Fanduel owner cuts US profit forecast on gamblers' winning streak
DUBLIN :Fanduel-owner Flutter cut its forecast for full-year U.S. profit growth on Wednesday after a winning streak for gamblers hit earnings at the world's largest online betting company for the second quarter in a row.
Bookmakers tend to suffer when favourites win and Flutter expects U.S. core profit to be $180 million lower this year at $1.13 billion due to an unprecedented run of bettor-friendly results during the March Madness college basketball tournament.
Flutter nudged up its group-wide profit forecast to $3.18 billion from $3.16 billion in March following a $100 million positive foreign currency impact and a $120 million acquisition contribution not included previously.

Leinster to face Bulls in United Rugby Championship final
Irish side Leinster will face the Bulls from South Africa in the United Rugby Championship final at Croke Park in Dublin on June 14 after both recorded home semi-final victories on Saturday. "Can they (his players) play their best every week? Listen, they're not robots. There is an opposition that is fully motivated as well. It's about dusting ourselves off now, it was a very physical game and I'm sure the (final) will be too." The Bulls will play their third final in four seasons, but lost on both previous occasions to Stormers in 2022 and Glasgow. They scored three tries against the Sharks through wings Sebastian de Klerk and Canan Moodie, and centre Dan Kriel. "I am proud with the way we defended, we were under the pump and sometimes you need those moments to get into the game," Bulls coach Jake White said. "It is a third final in four years and hopefully we can learn from the mistakes we made in the other. We play really well away from home."

Brentford sign Liverpool goalkeeper Kelleher on five-year deal
Brentford have signed Irish goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher from Liverpool on a five-year contract, both Premier League clubs said on Tuesday. The 26-year-old will replace Dutch goalkeeper Mark Flekken, who joined Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen on a three-year deal. Kelleher's contract also includes an option for a 12-month extension, with British media valuing the deal at around 18 million pounds ($24.35 million). "I am very pleased to welcome Caoimhin to Brentford. We have scouted him in the past and were aware that he had a year to go on his contract with Liverpool this summer," Brentford's Director of Football Phil Giles said. PHOTO: AFP NEW YORK - Three-times Olympic gold medallist Gabby Thomas said she was verbally abused at the Grand Slam Track meet in Philadelphia last weekend, the latest incident of harassment the American has reported in 2025. Thomas, who won gold in the 200 metres, and 4x100m and 4x400m relays at the Paris Games, said in a post on X that a man followed her around the track while she took pictures for fans and signed autographs, shouting personal insults at her. "Anybody who enables him online is gross," wrote Thomas. Thomas' post was in response to another on X which contained a video of a person heckling Thomas while she was on the starting line, shouting "you're a choke artist - you're going down, Gabby". "I made Gabby lose by heckling her. And it made my parlay win," the social media user wrote, with a screenshot of two multi-leg bets on the FanDuel sportsbook platform. The track circuit said in a statement: "Grand Slam Track is conducting a full investigation into the reprehensible behavior captured on video. We are working to identify the individual involved and will take appropriate action as necessary. "We will implement additional safeguards to help prevent incidents like this in the future. Let us be clear, despicable behavior like this will not be tolerated." Thomas finished third overall in the short sprints group for the Philadelphia meet, the third in the novel circuit's inaugural season. One of American track's brightest stars, the 28-year-old Thomas catapulted to mainstream fame after her breakout performance in Paris, gracing the cover of American "Vogue" magazine and appearing on US talk shows.
