Outloud music festival in Boston celebrates LGBTQ+ community during Pride Month
The Outloud music festival is coming to Boston this weekend, featuring high-energy performances from pop artists like Kim Petras and "RuPaul's Drag Race" star Trixie Mattel to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community.
The festival has taken off in West Hollywood, but Boston represents its East Coast debut, just in time to wrap up Pride Month in the city.
Performers will take the stage in East Boston at Suffolk Downs on Saturday. The former horse racing track reopened as a music venue a few years ago.
"Coming together and facing challenges"
Jeff Consoletti is Outloud's founder and he grew up in Milford. He tells WBZ-TV that this is "an exciting project to come home with."
"LA has been a great home for me, but you know I love my Boston and New England roots," he said. "I really also recall my first live concerts, whether it was like attending events at the old Foxboro or Great Woods. The young producer in me really like connected to just regionally how the area comes together to celebrate music."
Consoletti said Massachusetts felt like a "great East Coast home" for Outloud because of the state's longtime commitment to LGBTQ+ people. Boston recently declared itself a "sanctuary city" for transgender people and the broader LGBTQ+ community.
"We as a community can't take a step back. We have to show a commitment to one another, to solidarity, to coming together and facing challenges," Consoletti said. "That's really what Outloud stands for. It is important to create spaces where community can thrive."
Other artists in Saturday's lineup include Flo Milli, Rebecca Black, G Flip, Frankie Grande, Oompa, Big Body Kweeng, Hannah Rad and Math3ca. Tickets can still be bought online, starting at $69.

'I have been blessed with… I don't know, maybe it's just one pioneer seeing something that I am doing that, in the long term, will be looked back [at] and be understood,' MGK said, before quickly adding: 'Not calling myself a pioneer, but him.' Despite not knowing many specifics, it is possible to paint a pretty broad picture of the MGK-Dylan relationship. Earlier this year, Dylan, seemingly out of nowhere, posted on a video on Instagram of MGK rapping at a record store. One (very believable) theory as to how the singer-songwriter stumbled across the clip in the first place was floated by Dylan scholar Ray Padgett, who suggested on Bluesky, 'All because the dude has the same name as an old gangster Bob was googling.' Then in May, evidence emerged of an in-person meeting when MGK attended the Los Angeles stop of Willie Nelson's Outlaw Festival Tour, which Dylan is a part of. The day after the show, MGK tweeted not-so-cryptically, 'i met and had a conversation with someone last night that i never thought i'd get the honor to meet all because of a video of me rapping in a music store 10 years ago. i love music.' MGK released the Lost Americana trailer earlier this month. The clip features a montage of home movie-style footage, with Dylan delivering koans such as, 'Lost Americana is a personal excavation of the American dream — a journey to find what's been lost' and, 'From the gold neon diners to the rumble of the motorcycles, this is music that celebrates the beauty found in the in-between spaces. Where the past is reimagined and the future is forged on your own terms.' Lost Americana is set to arrive Aug. 8. The album marks MGK's first in three years following 2022's Mainstream Sellout. The musician has yet to reveal the full track list for the album, but it will feature his recent single, 'Cliché.' Lou Christie, ‘Lightnin' Strikes' Pop Crooner, Is Dead at 82
Lou Christie, who with his heartthrob persona and piercing falsetto rode high on the mid-1960s pop charts with hits like 'Lightnin' Strikes' and 'Two Faces Have I,' while transcending teen-idol status by helping to write his own material, died on Wednesday at his home in Pittsburgh. He was 82. His family announced the death on social media, saying only that he died 'after a brief illness.' With his perky doo-wop-inflected melodies and his gymnastic vocal range, Mr. Christie was at times compared to Frankie Valli of the Four Seasons. Like Mr. Valli, Mr. Christie hit his stride as the Beatles, the Rolling Stones and the other guitar groups of the British Invasion were starting to shatter the handsome-teen-crooner archetype personified by the likes of Fabian and Frankie Avalon. 'They started disappearing,' Mr. Christie once said of such singers in an interview with the site Classic Bands. 'It was so interesting that I kept going. I hit the end of that whole era. 'I've always been between the cracks of rock 'n' roll, I felt. The missing link.' Eli Manning 'jumps' Tom Brady at Fanatics Fest
Tom Brady made quite the entrance at Fanatics Fest on Friday in New York. He discarded and spat on a New York Jets jersey while walking the walk to WWE Superstar Cody Rhodes' entrance music.
