President Aoun: Israeli Strikes on Iran Threaten Middle East Stability
Lebanese President General Joseph Aoun said, 'The Israeli attacks this morning against Iran hurt not only the Iranian people but also all efforts to keep peace in the Middle East and neighboring countries, avoiding escalation.' In a statement issued Friday, Aoun noted that 'such attacks aim to undermine all current initiatives and mediations aimed at preventing the deterioration of the situation, which had made significant progress towards reaching realistic and just solutions that would remove the threat of war from the countries and peoples of the region.' Aoun called on 'the international community to take effective and swift action to prevent Israel from achieving its goals, which are no longer hidden from anyone and which, if they continue, threaten the most dangerous consequences.' He also offered his 'condolences to the Iranian leadership for the military and civilian leaders who were killed as a result of the Israeli attacks that occurred Friday morning,' wishing 'a speedy recovery for the injured.'
