and
statehood
in the Union Territory.
The NC meeting led by its president
Farooq Abdullah
in presence of J&K Chief Minister
Omar Abdullah
also welcomed the ceasefire between India and Pakistan and urged the two countries to uphold peace.
"The Working Committee unanimously reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to the restoration of J&K's special status. The Committee reiterated that this is central to the aspirations and dignity of the people and must be addressed without further delay and we will continue to fight for its restoration," read the resolution. The Working Committee also urged the Government of India to restore full statehood to J&K immediately, as promised on the floor of the Parliament and repeatedly echoed in the public domain and also as committed by the constitution bench of the Supreme Court.

"The Committee welcomed the announcement of a ceasefire and called upon both the countries to uphold peace and explore long-lasting, peaceful solutions to end violence," read the NC resolution. The NC also cautioned the GoI that arbitrary arrests, harassment of youth, targeted use of bulldozers and intimidation of legitimate media voices will only alienate the very people who have stood firmly for peace and against violence.
The Working Committee strongly condemned the horrific Baisaran attack that claimed the lives of 26 innocent individuals, including a young Kashmiri, Syed Adil Hussain Shah. It also denounced the continued cross-border shelling that took the lives of 23 innocent civilians.

The
NC working committee
appreciated the spontaneous and overwhelming support of the people of J&K in unequivocally condemning the Baisaran attack. It also acknowledged the compassion and hospitality extended to tourists who found themselves stranded in the Valley during challenging circumstances. "GoI should recognise and respect this powerful expression of solidarity and not squander the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity extended by the people of J&K," read the resolution.
The NC expressed serious concern over the reports of harassment faced by students, traders, and residents from J&K in various parts of the country. "It strongly condemned their selective targeting in the aftermath of recent events and called upon all state governments to ensure the safety, dignity, and protection of the lives and property of all people from J&K living or working in other parts of India," NC members said. They also reiterated the party's unwavering commitment to the promises made in its manifesto.

Teary Farooq Abdullah takes emotional train journey on Srinagar-Katra Vande Bharat: ‘Waited many years for this dream'

The president of Jammu and Kashmir's ruling National Conference, Farooq Abdullah, welled up with emotion as he came out of the Srinagar-Katra Vande Bharat train on Tuesday, and said that his dream of seeing Kashmir connected with the rest of India via rail has come true. 'I am very happy today to see a dream, for which I have waited many years, coming true,' he said, with tears in his eyes, after disembarking at Katra. 'I cannot explain how much my heart is overwhelmed with joy that my eyes are filled with tears on seeing that the day I have been waiting for for years has come true,' Abdullah said. Accompanied by his grandsons, Zamir and Zahir, the former J&K chief minister reached Katra en route to the Vaishnodevi shrine in Trikuta Hills. He expressed hope that with the rail link to Srinagar, pilgrims coming for darshan at the Vaishnodevi shrine would also travel to Kashmir in large numbers and visit the Amarnath shrine in the South Kashmir Himalayas. He said the train would not only provide connectivity, but also boost love and friendship between the two regions of Jammu and Kashmir. Pointing out that Amarnath pilgrims could come to Kashmir on the train in large numbers, he said, 'Our people can also comfortably travel to other parts of the country in it. The people of Kashmir will benefit from it as their fruit and other produce will reach other parts of the country in a short time.' Wearing a cap and black sunglasses, the veteran leader was also accompanied in the train by J&K minister Satish Sharma and chief minister Omar Abdullah's adviser, Nasir Aslam Wani, as well as National Conference chief spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq. At Katra railway station, Farooq Abdullah was received by Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary and National Conference provincial president Rattan Lal Gupta. 'Mata ne bulaya hai (Mata Vaishno Devi has called me),' said Abdullah while leaving Katra railway station to go to the shrine. He and his grandchildren will be at the shrine during the arti rituals in the evening, and will stay the night in the area, NC provincial president Rattan Lal Gupta said, adding that they would go to Jammu on Wednesday.

Collective responsibility for ensuring peaceful Amarnath Yatra: Mehbooba

Srinagar, June 10 (UNI) Former Chief Minister and PDP President, Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday said that it was the collective responsibility of every Kashmiri in ensuring a peaceful and secure Amarnath Yatra beginning from July 3. Mehbooba said this during her visit to the tourist resort of Pahalgam in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir. Pahalgam was struck by a brutal terrorist attack on April 22, leaving 25 tourists and a local dead. During the Amarnath Yatra, Pahalgam serves as the traditional base camp for the yatris '…Amarnath Yatra is about to start. That's why I called all our workers on the route of Amarnath Yatra. I told them that the people of Pahalgam have to take care of Amarnath Yatra so that the Yatra goes well,' Mehbooba told a gathering at the tourist resort. She highlighted the historical role of Pahalgam's residents in fostering communal harmony. 'The people of Pahalgam have kept Hindu-Muslim unity alive in the country. For centuries, the people of Kashmir and Pahalgam have welcomed Amarnath Yatris with open hearts, and this legacy will continue with the same spirit and sincerity,' she said. Mehbooba underscored that the security of Amarnath Yatris is a shared responsibility, noting, no matter how many security forces are deployed, the actual responsibility for a peaceful Amarnath Yatra lies with every inhabitant of Pahalgam. She said once the Amarnath Yatra will be peaceful, people will regain their confidence and tourism will start again. The PDP chief also urged Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and the Lieutenant Governor to take swift action to reopen popular tourist destinations such as Chandanwari, Aru Valley, Betab Valley, and other parks in Pahalgam. She questioned the delay in their reopening, stating, 'I want to ask Omar sahab, no one stops you from giving jobs to retired people or transferring officers as you wish. If you can exercise your authority freely in these matters, why can't you ensure these parks are open for the public?' 'We, in the opposition, can only raise our voice. But if you, despite being in government, only make statements, what's the difference between you and us?' she asked UNI MJR GNK

Jihadist Brigades Within Pakistan Army Pose Growing Threat To Global Security: Sources

Last Updated: Brigade 313, validated by Lashkar and Jaish in Pakistan, operates as Al-Qaeda's military arm in the region, reflecting deep ties to Pakistani jihadist networks. Pakistan's army has multiple brigades apart from the notorious Brigade 313, dedicated to global jihad and internal operations, top Intelligence sources have told CNN-News18. These brigades, equipped with conventional warfare capabilities and asymmetric tactics, pose significant threats to regional stability and global security. Established in 1956 with assistance from the US Army Special Forces, the Special Services Group (SSG), initially named the 19th Baluch Regiment, is a key component of these brigades. Sources confirm that the SSG operates under a hybrid warfare doctrine, combining conventional special operations with sabotage. The SSG excels in proxy warfare through militant affiliates and political control mechanisms, such as coups. It undertakes foreign internal defence, regional surveys, direct action, counter-terrorism, and unconventional warfare, intelligence sources reveal. Another crucial unit is the 111th Infantry Brigade, renowned for its expertise in orchestrating coups, as per top intelligence sources. This brigade played pivotal roles in toppling governments in 1958 for Ayub Khan, in 1977 for Zia ul-Haq, and in 1999 for Pervez Musharraf. Besides safeguarding the Prime Minister, President, and Army GHQ, they possess significant leverage over civilian administration, often employing blackmail, sources assert. Brigade 313, validated by Lashkar and Jaish in Pakistan, operates as Al-Qaeda's military arm in the region, reflecting deep ties to Pakistani jihadist networks and international terrorist groups, according to intelligence sources. Formed in 2008, Brigade 313 consolidated multiple Pakistani militant groups under Al-Qaeda's command due to their advanced warfare techniques and Maulana Masood Azhar's connections to groups based in Nangarhar. Top intelligence sources highlight that Brigade 313 employs unconventional methods like terrorism, infiltration, and cyber-attacks rather than traditional military engagements. Although closely associated with ISI, they operate independently of the regular army. Motivated by extremist Islamist ideology, they utilise religious symbolism to recruit and justify violence, spreading propaganda such as Gazwa-E-Hind via social media, sources confirm. Brigade 313 targets Kashmiri youth through encrypted apps and religious propaganda to build sleeper cells and incite lone wolf attacks, according to intelligence. They produce high-quality, well-edited videos consumed by Kashmiris, having access to advanced audiovisual media facilities. First Published:
