U.S. Open purse: How much will the winner will take home?

The winner of this year's U.S. Open, as Bryson DeChambeau did last year, will take home $4.3 million. That's part of the $21.5 million total purse, to be distributed among the 66 golfers remaining in the field. Advertisement Last place? A solid $41,254. This year's total purse is the same as last year, though it still dwarfs what Jack Nicklaus took home way back in 1962 when he claimed his first tournament and major victory at Oakmont — $17,500 out of a total purse of $73,800. Here's the complete breakdown of the payouts for the 125th U.S. Open.
