After heavy rains bring flash flooding to the Pittsburgh area, cleanup efforts begin
Friday evening was a flat-out dangerous time to be outside as heavy rains hit the region and brought fast, flash flooding.
Now, on Saturday, a ton of cleanup lies ahead.
The streets were flooded in Wall Borough, leaving many to grab whatever they could and get out, leaving the mess behind.
That mess included sheds being damaged, cars submerged, and even a natural gas line being exposed.
Valley Avenue in Wall Borough turned into a river as torrential waters rushed down the street, leaving residents shocked and stunned.
"[It] looks pretty bad, the roads tore up, I have water coming through the walls of my basement and into my living room," said Pattie Marshall, a resident of Valley Avenue.
The severe weather swept through the Pittsburgh area, not just on Valley Avenue, but others, leaving the same results: flash flooding and water rescues.
Meanwhile, in Wall Borough, the streets were covered with debris, damaged homes, sheds that were pulled off their foundations, and vehicles pushed into fences.
Luckily, emergency crews were able to move in quickly and get the road reopened.
No injuries were reported during the flooding, but now, many are left with damaged homes and a big cleanup effort ahead of them.

Strong, severe storms to bring large hail, high winds and heavy rain to North Texas this weekend
Happy Saturday! First Alerts are in effect starting Saturday evening through Monday due to the heat and storm chances. This weekend, highs will reach the mid-90s, but with all the moisture in the atmosphere, the heat index value will be in the triple digits. Be sure to drink plenty of water and take frequent breaks in the shade if you're planning on doing any vigorous outdoor activities. The heat and moisture at the surface combined with an upper-level northwesterly will allow for storms to move through North Texas Saturday night. By Sunday night, a cold front will initiate more storms that will continue into Monday. The Storm Prediction Center has highlighted a level 2 out of 5 threat for Saturday overnight and a level 3 out of 5 for Sunday night. Sunday's threat will be much more widespread, with the potential for a significant threat of severe weather. Large hail and damaging winds are the primary threats, but all modes will still be possible. As for the next week, the cold front stalls on Monday across central Texas. This will initiate more storms as well as cause an active forecast. Stay tuned for the latest forecast updates!

Strong storms possible Saturday afternoon
We've had dense fog to start the day and a Dense Fog Advisory will expire at 9AM. There is a widespread area of rain and some thunder to our west. This area of rain looks to mainly impact our southern counties through the morning hours. Scattered storms are expected to develop this afternoon and early evening. A few of these storms could be strong to severe with gusty winds the main concern, but an isolated, weak tornado can't be ruled out. Temperatures on Saturday will be in the mid 70s. We will see a break in activity overnight and through much of the day on Sunday. In fact, on Sunday, we could see clouds decrease through the morning allowing for decent sunshine and temperatures to climb into the mid to upper 80s. A weak front will bring another chance of strong to severe storms later on Sunday afternoon and through the evening hours. The threat is highest to the west of the metro. Gusty winds are the main concern again, with a lesser threat of hail and tornadoes. Once this front clears the region we will have a nice break from the active pattern. Dry with sunshine and temperatures in the 80s Monday through much of the work week. Rain chances return late in the week. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Drone video, photos show damage from tornadoes in Lubbock, Texas
At least 20 tornadoes ripped through New Mexico into the Texas border town of Lubbock, leaving more than 10,000 residents in West Texas without power, the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal, part of the USA TODAY network, reported Thursday night. Just after noon local time on Friday, June 6, the Lubbock Power and Light outage map reported more than 40 active outages amid flash floods and property damage. The National Weather Service (NWS) reported multiple tornadoes hit the area late on Thursday, resulting in flooding and wind damage focused in Hockley and Lubbock counties. As residents attempted to clean up the damage Friday morning, NWS warned of another round of severe thunderstorms in the evening with the possibility for wind gusts up to 90 mph, hail up to softball size, localized flash flooding, and tornadoes. Photos and videos coming out of the Western Texas county show flooding, flipped structures and destroyed roofs. See drone footage of the aftermath in the video above.
