Lawsuit Accuses Tyler Perry of Sexual Assault
The filmmaker and media mogul Tyler Perry is being sued for $260 million for sexual assault by an actor who starred in 'The Oval,' one of Mr. Perry's television series.
Derek Dixon, who played the character Dale on the show, claims in a lawsuit that Mr. Perry subjected him 'to escalating sexual harassment, assault and battery, and professional retaliation when Mr. Dixon did not reciprocate Mr. Perry's unwanted advances.'
Lawyers for Mr. Perry and Mr. Dixon did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Matthew Boyd, a lawyer for Mr. Perry, said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter that the lawsuit was a 'scam.'
'Tyler will not be shaken down and we are confident these fabricated claims of harassment will fail,' Mr. Boyd said.
According to the lawsuit, which was filed on Friday in a Los Angeles court, Mr. Dixon met Mr. Perry in 2019, when Mr. Dixon worked for an event company that had organized a party for the filmmaker. The two exchanged numbers, and Mr. Perry initially offered him career advancement, Mr. Dixon said.
Soon afterward, Mr. Perry began sending Mr. Dixon sexually suggestive text messages, according to the lawsuit, which included images of messages sent between the men.
In one episode mentioned in the lawsuit, in 2020, Mr. Perry invited Mr. Dixon to his home in Douglasville, Ga., near Atlanta, where the two had drinks and Mr. Dixon spent the night in a guest room. During the night, Mr. Perry got into bed with Mr. Dixon and began 'rubbing Dixon's body around his inner thigh in a highly sexual and suggestive manner,' according to the lawsuit. Mr. Dixon jumped out of bed and told Mr. Perry that he 'wasn't that sexual,' according to the lawsuit.
Afterward, Mr. Dixon ignored Mr. Perry's texts, until Mr. Perry offered him a role in 'The Oval,' according to the lawsuit.
The lawsuit also describes an incident in 2021 when Mr. Dixon spent the night at Mr. Perry's house, and claims that when Mr. Perry asked for a good night hug, he pulled down Mr. Dixon's underwear and 'began to vigorously grab, grope, and play with Dixon's buttocks in a sexual manner.'
Mr. Perry has built a media empire with an array of popular television shows and movies depicting Black life in America, including the 'Madea' film series, in which he also stars. In 2019, he opened a 330-acre studio complex in Atlanta where major studios often film movies and television shows, including 'Pitch Perfect 3,' 'The Walking Dead' and 'Black Panther.'

MDSO releases name of man fatally shot by deputy after chase
The Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office has released the name of the man who was fatally shot by a deputy Tuesday after a brief chase. Just after 5 p.m., when deputies with the Robbery Intervention Detail attempted to stop a yellow Corvette near NW 66th Street and NW 22nd Avenue due to illegal window tint, the driver, identified as 24-year-old Kristofer Laboy, sped off, according to the sheriff's office. Brief chase and deadly shooting "The vehicle fled the scene, and with the assistance of the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office aviation unit, deputies tracked the Corvette to a dead end near NW 85 Street and NW 4 Court," Sheriff's spokesman Argemis Colome said. Laboy, who was the only one in the car, then got out. Investigators said he was armed as he approached the deputies' vehicles and that's when Deputy Kelvin Cox shot him. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue arrived and declared him dead at the scene. No deputies were injured during the incident and a Laboy's gun was recovered. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is now leading the investigation, which is standard protocol in police shootings. Cox is a 23–year veteran of law enforcement.

Trump admin deploys 2K more troops to blue city for anti-ICE riots
The Department of Defense is sending thousands more National Guard troops to protect federal property amid anti-Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) riots in Los Angeles. "By direction of the Secretary of Defense and in coordination with U.S. Northern Command, 2,000 additional California Army National Guard soldiers have been activated in a Title 10 status to support the protection of federal functions, personnel, and property in the greater Los Angeles area," according to a Tuesday release from U.S. Northern Command. The release says that the 49th Military Police Brigade will be sent to serve alongside the 79th Infantry Brigade Combat team and the 2nd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, under the direction of Task Force 51, which is commanded by Maj. Gen. Scott M. Sherman. The task force, which has been the subject of controversy since it was deployed to the West Coast city after an eruption of violence stemming from immigration operations carried out by ICE, will now be comprised of 4,100 National Guardsmen and 700 active duty Marines. Gov. Gavin Newsom last week sued the Trump administration for deploying troops to California in the first place, accusing the president of having "commandeered" 2,000 of the state's National Guard members "illegally, for no reason" without consulting with California's law enforcement leaders. "The INCOMPETENT Governor of California was unable to provide protection in a timely manner when our Ice Officers, GREAT Patriots they are, were attacked by an out of control mob of agitators, troublemakers, and/or insurrectionists," Trump said on TRUTH Social in response to the lawsuit. "MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN! On Thursday, U.S. District Judge Charles Breyer ruled in favor of Newsom. An appellate court is currently reviewing the matter. Northern Command said that the troops will not be used in a civilian law enforcement capacity, but rather they will "provide Task Force 51 with adequate numbers of forces to provide continuous coverage of the area in support of the lead federal agency." "The soldiers are completing training on de-escalation, crowd control, and use of the standing rules for the use of force in advance of joining the federal protection mission," the release said. About two weeks ago, riots erupted in Paramount, California, just south of Los Angeles, after ICE conducted immigration sweeps in the city. Those riots quickly spread north, leading to several nights of showdowns between law enforcement and unruly bad actors. Stores in downtown Los Angeles were broken into and looted, and much of the downtown area was vandalized with anti-ICE and anti-Trump graffiti. Several "Kill Trump" messages were graffitied in the city's downtown. The U.S. Secret Service told Fox News Digital last week it was "aware" of the threatening messages. Meanwhile, violent behavior continues to flare up. A mob of 100 looters ransacked an AutoZone in southern Los Angeles early Monday morning, resulting in the reported loss of $67,000 in merchandise. Detectives are investigating whether the looting episode is related to a "street takeover." Fox News Digital reached out to Newsom's office for comment.
