Local police department honors man who saved woman's life on I-26 overpass
NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – A Lowcountry police agency honored a local citizen Thursday for saving a woman's life in December.
Rudolph Lafleur was presented with the Civilian Achievement Award for his actions on Dec. 28, 2024, when he saved a woman attempting to jump from the interstate.
That day, officers received reports from a concerned citizen about a woman leaning over the edge of the I-26 overpass on Ashley Phosphate Road.
Lafleur was driving in the area when he saw the woman who looked like she was going to jump. He immediately jumped out of his car and grabbed her around the waist to prevent her from jumping.
'He then assisted the officers in safely bringing her back over the guardrail and helped them escort her to a patrol vehicle, ensuring she was secured for her own safety,' the department posted in a statement on social media.
Congratulations, Mr. Lafleur!

‘Grinch' who allegedly stole, prowled cars on Christmas in Camas arrested
