STAMFORD, Conn. – Jan. 30, 2025 – NBC Sports presents coverage of the 2025 Guinness Men's Six Nations, beginning tomorrow, Jan. 31, with all three opening round matches of one of the world's oldest rugby championships streaming exclusively on Peacock this weekend.
Opening round coverage this weekend begins with 2024 runners-up France visiting Wales on tomorrow live at 3:15 p.m. ET on Peacock, while Saturday's slate includes Italy hosting Scotland at 9:15 a.m. ET and defending champion Ireland visiting England at 11:45 a.m. ET.
All matches throughout the 2025 Guinness Men's Six Nations – which culminates with the final three Round 5 matches on Saturday, March 15 – will stream live exclusively on Peacock. Television coverage throughout the tournament includes same- or next-day encores across NBC and CNBC.
Ireland won the 2024 Six Nations tournament - its 16th outright title and sixth of the Six Nations era (since 2000). Runners-up and 2022 champions France, featuring 2024 top point scorer Thomas Ramos, aim to win their second tournament in four years after finishing runners-up the last two, while Italy, featuring 2024 player of the tournament Tommaso Menoncello, look to build on the momentum from last year's fifth-place finish, which snapped eight consecutive years of sixth-place finishes.
The 2025 Six Nations tournament features five of the current top ten men's teams in the World Rugby Rankings: No. 2 Ireland, No. 4 France, No. 6 Scotland, No. 7 England, and No. 10 Italy, with Wales on the cusp at No. 11.

Alex Corbisiero, who played for England in the Six Nations Championship in 2011 and 2012 (England won the Six Nations title in 2011), Nate Ebner, a member of the 2016 U.S. Olympic rugby sevens team and three-time Super Bowl champion with the New England Patriots, and former USA Sevens captain Brian Hightower will host studio coverage throughout the tournament.

Wimbledon increases prize money after players called for improvements in revenue distribution
Wimbledon is raising its prize money by 7% for this year's championship, bumping the total up to 53.5 million pounds ($72.59 million). On Thursday, the All England Lawn Tennis Club announced a significant increase, which has nearly doubled the $40.60 million prize money from 2015. Singles champions will see an 11.1% increase from last year, when Carlos Alcaraz and Barbora Krejcikova won the men's and women's singles titles. This year's victors of the individual tournaments will receive the highest prize across all Grand Slam competitions, a staggering 3 million pounds ($4.07 million). Advertisement Players who are eliminated in the first round of singles competition will see a 10% increase from last year, while doubles prize money goes up 4.4%, mixed doubles 4.3% and wheelchair and quad wheelchair 5.6%. Wimbledon made the adjustments after athletes campaigned for improvements in the Grand Slam prize money to ensure a more impartial revenue distribution. AELTC chair Deborah Jevans said, per ESPN, that the club "Listened to the players. We have engaged with the players. "But the focus on just the prize money at the four events, the Grand Slams, does not get to the heart of what the challenge is with tennis," Jevans added. "The challenge with tennis is the fact that the players don't have an offseason, which they want; they have increasing injuries that they're speaking about." Jevans also noted how Wimbledon is willing to work with the tours to continue working toward better compensation for the athletes. Advertisement The Wimbledon Championships will start on June 30 and run through July 13. Apart from paying the players more, AELTC is taking more steps to improve the Wimbledon experience this year. First, the tournament is moving when finals games are played. The club said the doubles finals on July 12 and 13 would start at 1 p.m. local time (8 a.m. ET), while the singles finals begin at 4 p.m. local time. Additionally, this year's tournament will be the first to feature the electronic line-calling system over line judges. According to AELTC CEO Sally Bolton, "the time is right to move on" from the old system and join other tournaments using modern technology. "They're extra eyes and ears, the assistant to the chair umpire. We've got about 80 of those across the Championships," Bolton said, per ESPN. "They'll also provide one of the parts of our resilience in the event that the electronic line calling system goes down at any point in time."

Simone Biles apologizes for heated exchange with Riley Gaines over trans athlete participation
Two-time Olympic all-around champion Simone Biles has apologized for getting personal in a heated online exchange with former collegiate swimmer turned anti-trans athlete activist Riley Gaines. Biles, an 11-time Olympic medalist and the most decorated gymnast of all-time, initially responded to a post by Gaines on the social media platform X after Gaines called a player on a Minnesota high school softball team 'a boy.' Biles wrote that Gaines was 'truly sick' and a 'straight up sore loser,' comments Biles later retracted. Biles wrote that the current system in sports doesn't adequately address the balance between competitive equity and inclusivity and the discussion of the topic can lead to 'frustration and heated exchanges.' 'It didn't help for me to get personal with Riley,' Biles wrote. Biles clarified that her main objection was that Gaines opted to single out an underage athlete, when that athlete has no control over what Biles called a 'flawed system.' 'I believe sports organizations have a responsibility to come up with rules supporting inclusion while maintaining fair competition,' Biles posted. 'We all want a future for sport that is fair, inclusive, and respectful.'
