I can't imagine Mullin in a different kit -Reynolds

Wrexham co-owner Ryan Reynolds says he cannot imagine seeing Paul Mullin wearing a different kit after the striker completed a loan move to Wigan Athletic.Mullin has joined the League One side for the 2025-26 season, but says he feels "sad" and "disappointed" to leave Wrexham having spent most of their promotion-winning campaign to the Championship on the sidelines.Reynolds says it will be strange seeing Mullin playing elsewhere, given the 30-year-old's huge contribution to the Red Dragons' rise from the National League to the second tier in successive seasons."I can't imagine seeing Mulls on loan and in another kit," said the Hollywood actor on social media."We wouldn't be where we are without his heart, skill and work ethic."We love you."
Mullin scored 110 goals in 170 games in all competitions for Wrexham after joining from Cambridge United in 2021, but was axed from the squad altogether for the final few months of the 2024-25 campaign."It was sad to leave there how it's ended," Mullin told Wigan's website."That happens in football - you leave clubs - but just the way it's gone has been quite disappointing."But one door closes, another one opens. I'm ready for a new chapter." Many Wrexham fans remain puzzled why Mullin could not even make the bench in the final few months of last season, even after the January arrival of forwards Sam Smith and Jay Rodriguez. But supporters and pundits have been keen to pay tribute to a man who leaves - for now at least - with legendary status at the Stok Cae Ras.Former Wrexham midfielder Waynne Phillips saying Mullin is "one of the greatest to have worn the red of Wrexham"."So many happy memories in the four years, and I've been privileged to have commentated on so many wonderful moments," said the BBC Wales pundit."Like all Wrexham fans, I wish Paul Mullin all the very best."

England U21s will be ready for the dreaded penalties, insists Lee Carsley ahead of Young Lions' Euros semi-final against the Netherlands

Lee Carsley vowed that England have left no stone unturned if it comes to penalties in their Under-21 Euros semi-final against the Netherlands. Back in 2007 it was the Dutch who had the last laugh against England in the semi-finals when they got the better of it in a 13-12 epic shootout. But England have improved at shootouts across all levels and Carsley is not worried if their place in the finals comes down to kicks from 12 yards. 'There's definitely more of an awareness of penalties,' Carsley said. 'And the technique and structure that goes behind a penalty shootout, we've definitely done a lot of research. 'We are at the point now where the talking about it and practising it is totally different then to stepping up and taking one. 'We are fortunate now that we have a lot of England players that take penalties for their clubs which really helps.' Former seniors boss Gareth Southgate placed a great deal of emphasis on the research of shootouts and while Carsley is hoping to avoid it, England will be fully prepared for the highest stakes if it comes to it. 'It is very difficult to replicate the walk from the halfway line to the penalty spot, especially if you are not used to it,' he added. 'There is definitely more of an awareness of how important, not only penalties are but set-pieces in general. 'It's definitely something Gareth really pushed which filtered down the pathway, which is so important because the amount of resources that would have been thrown at the senior team to be the best at penalty shootouts and have that awareness of how important they are has definitely trickled down the pathway and we have got the benefit of that.' England have scored one penalty out here through Elliot Anderson and conceded one against Spain through Javi Guerra but in Jay Stansfield, Omari Hutchinson, Harvey Elliott, James McAtee and Jonathan Rowe they aren't short of willing volunteers to step up. As for Dutch goalkeeper Robin Roefs, he is not buying into England's penalty confidence. 'Yes, we prepare for this every game,' he said. 'We're definitely ready for them.'
