Ex-Celtic duo among five 'contenders' for Dundee job
Tony Docherty was relieved of his duties in the north east last week in a surprise announcement.
The 54-year-old guided the club to a top-six Scottish Premiership finish in his first season at the helm.

Just after the end of his second, however, he was sacked despite helping Dundee escape falling into a relegation play-off place on the final day of the league campaign.
The Dens Park side are now in the hunt for a replacement. Technical adviser Gordon Strachan and general manager John Nelms are 'leading the hunt' for a new boss, claims SunSport.
It is said that there are five contenders for the job: Maloney, Brown, Charlie Adam, Temuri Ketsbaia, and Andy Woodman.
Maloney most recently took charge of Wigan Athletic. He spent over two years at the club, managing over 100 matches.
The 42-year-old previously had a spell at Hibernian, too, and was assistant to Roberto Martinez in the Belgium set-up.
Brown, meanwhile, is currently in his second managerial role. The Celtic legend spent over 12 months at Fleetwood before joining Ayr United in January of last year.
His side missed out on Scottish Premiership promotion this season as they fell out of the play-offs at the quarter-final stage, losing 2-1 on aggregate to Partick Thistle.
Brown and Maloney played together at Parkhead for three years.

He scored 18 goals in 37 Scottish Premiership appearances as the Hoops retained the league title in Brendan Rodgers' first season back as manager. O'Riley had been a revelation at Celtic Park following his £1.5million switch from third tier English side MK Dons back in January 2022 under Ange Postecoglou. His performances quickly caught the attention and by the time the summer transfer window came around last year, it looked like an uphill battle for Celtic to keep the fans' favourite at Parkhead. And so it turned out, as in late August, O'Riley sealed a Scottish record £25m-plus transfer to Brighton and he signed a five-year contract. The big move began in nightmare fashion for the Denmark international. He made his debut in an EFL Cup clash against Crawley the day after completing his move but lasted just nine minutes. A horror tackle resulted in O'Riley having to undergo ankle surgery and he wasn't able to return to action until November. He made his comeback in style, netting a late winner for the Seagulls in a memorable 2-1 win over Manchester City. All in all, however, it was a frustrating season for O'Riley. Carlos Baleba has been a first pick in the German boss' midfield, while January signing Diego Gomez has also slotted in since his arrival from Inter Miami. The likes of Yasin Ayari, Brajan Gruda and Jack Hinshelwood have also been used more regularly. That's meant O'Riley has largely been restricted to a substitute's role although he did mange a few more starts towards the end of the season, starting six of the last eight matches. O'Riley netted from the spot in the final day 4-1 win over Tottenham after coming off the bench. He's already been linked with an exit from Brighton this summer, with unnamed clubs from England, Germany and Italy credited with an ongoing interest in him. Now, Sky Sports claim that Everton are 'keen' on signing O'Riley should Brighton be willing to let him leave. The report says that there is 'uncertainty' surrounding his future but that the Seagulls also believe O'Riley can play a significant role next season. Meanwhile, Everton have also been linked with a move for Rangers star Mohamed Diomande. The 23-year old joined the Light Blues on an initial loan deal from Danish club Nordsjaelland in January 2024, before the move was made permanent last summer. And he wouldn't be surprised if he's already been on the phone to his old pal Scott Brown to tap him up for a Parkhead return. Tierney has signed a pre-contract agreement to return to Parkhead and he'll officially be a Celtic player from July 1 when his Arsenal deal expires. He spent six years at the Emirates and leaves a popular figure – although perhaps not quite as popular as he is in the east end of Glasgow. Nomadic striker Kazim-Richards was a fleeting teammate of both Tierney and Brown in 2016 and he believes his imminent return to Parkhead was always on the cards – even if he hadn't been hampered by injuries and kicked on like many hoped he would. And, speaking to he reckons the 27-year-old will now fancy his chances of becoming one of Brendan Rodgers' best players. "I think that regardless of whatever happened in KT's career, if he went on to become the best left-back in the world, he would have always returned to Celtic one day. He would have always gone back home. "Obviously, he's been heartbreakingly unlucky with his injuries. He could have been a massive player for Arsenal – they spoke about him as a future captain, everyone loves him there – but sometimes you don't have the luck in your career. Celtic is Kieran and Kieran is Celtic. He loves Celtic. "He might be thinking to himself, you know what, while I'm still young - and I don't want to go back when I'm 34, 35, 36 - I can go back and still massively impact the club I love for the next five or six years. I can go there and be one of Celtic's best players. I can play in the Champions League with my boyhood club. I can win more titles. "The one thing I can say about him is, even if he would have had an absolute blinder at Arsenal, even if he wasn't plagued by injury, he'd always go back home. "I wouldn't surprise me if he's been calling his mate Scott Brown and asking him if he would want to go back! KT and Broonie were like butter on bread. "You know when it's minus 50 outside and he's in a T-shirt, he gets that from Broonie. I love KT. I hope it all goes well for him because he deserves it." Scott Brown reveals the one Celtic booking he 'didn't deserve' as chuckling hero has no complaints about the other 145
Brown has few complaints about the bookings he received as a player... But this one still rankles Scott Brown was shown 146 yellow cards in his Celtic career – but there was only one of them he didn't deserve in his eyes. And it was arguably the most famous one of them all. The former Hoops captain was no stranger to the referee's book with his tough-tackling style and wind-up merchant approach putting him on the wrong side of many an official over the years. It was part of what made him an icon in the eyes of fans, of course, and the now- Ayr United boss has few regrets over doing whatever it took – after all it helped deliver an incredible 22 major trophies. But there's one booking that still rankles. The one he was shown for getting in the face of El-Hadj Diouf. The image of Brown standing in front of the Rangers forward with his arms spread out is a famous one. It occurred in 2011 when Brown put Celtic into the lead against Rangers in a Scottish Cup tie and made a beeline for Diouf who didn't take it well. And speaking on Frank McAvennie's Let Me Be Frank podcast, Brown said: 'I got booked for that. Honestly. That's probably the only booking I didn't deserve. 'We were having a go all season, to be fair. It was every game, then, was he still there that season afterwards? I can't remember how long he was there. 'But it was actually quite good banter. I liked somebody who gave me something back.'
