3 former East Cleveland officers sentenced to prison
EAST CLEVELAND, Ohio (WJW) – Three former East Cleveland police officers were sentenced Monday afternoon for corruption-related crimes that happened from 2020-2023.
East Cleveland community members spoke out during the sentencing of former East Cleveland Commander Larry McDonald Monday morning.
Chardon man sentenced in ambulance crash that killed patient
Back in January, McDonald was found guilty by a jury on charges of tampering with evidence, obstructing official business, and dereliction of duty, among others.
Prosecutors said in March of 2023, McDonald was pursuing a motorist when the motorist's car crashed in Cleveland. Evidence showed McDonald left and didn't report the incident to dispatch.
In the end, McDonald was led from the courtroom in handcuffs after a judge sentenced him to four years in prison.
Next up, former East Cleveland sergeant Anthony Holmes.
Investigation into fire at popular Mexican restaurant Kaballos Mexican Kitchen & Bar in Middlefield
In 2024, a jury found Holmes guilty of tampering with records, fraud, interfering with civil rights and dereliction of duty. The charges stem from a police pursuit last year.
Prosecutors said Holmes struck the victim's vehicle and told another officer to say the victim had struck his vehicle. In the end, a judge sentenced Holmes to one year in prison.
Last, former East Cleveland police detective Ian McInnes.
Last year, McInnis was found guilty of felonious assault, assault, interfering with civil rights and dereliction of duty. Prosecutors said McInnis was involved with three different cases of assault during arrests.

In the end, McInnis was sentenced to two and a half years in prison.
A fourth East Cleveland officer, John Hartman, was supposed to be sentenced Monday as well. However, Hartman's sentencing was continued to a later date.

Riverdale man charged with sexually assaulting, giving alcohol to underage teen, documents say
Charges are allegations only. All arrested persons are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. RIVERDALE, Utah () — A 28-year-old man has been charged with sexually assaulting an underage teenage girl after giving her alcohol. Kyle Anthony Hird, 28, has been charged with two felony counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a 16/17-year-old and one misdemeanor charge of knowingly offering alcohol to a minor. According to documents, a juvenile victim contacted police on Feb. 3, 2025. She told officials that someone she knew from work, Hird, had invited her to his residence the night before. There, he gave her alcohol and sexually assaulted her, and she did not consent but 'was too intoxicated to stop' him. Daycare employee charged with sexually abusing children, documents say Using the victim's Snapchat, a Riverdale City Police officer contacted Hird and asked what had happened the night before. Hird allegedly responded that he would only speak about the incident in person, saying, 'Please understand I cannot get in trouble for anything, my kids can't [lose] their dads and s–.' Police located and interviewed Hird regarding what happened. He allegedly denied providing the minor victim with alcohol and said that no sexual contact had happened. However, Hird did acknowledge that he was aware of her age. A search warrant for Hird's DNA was filed and approved. On June 11, 2025, the forensic report from a Code R Kit (used to test for sexual assault) performed on the victim provided 'very strong support' that Hird's DNA was a match. Hird has been booked into the Weber County Jail and is currently being held without bail. East Nashville residents frustrated by recent car burglaries
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Neighbors in East Nashville said they're sick of petty crime in their community. In the last four weeks, there have been more than 80 reports of vehicle break-ins or vehicle thefts in just one portion of East Nashville, according to 'We don't feel safe. We're frustrated,' Yoko Ono said. Within the last two weeks, Ono's car was broken into twice, with the suspects breaking the same window. Parent says crosswalk at East Nashville elementary school is becoming dangerous Neighbors caught the apparent suspects on camera and agreed they looked like young adults or teenagers. 'From 11 p.m. to 3 a.m., it's their witching hour where they get to go out and get crazy because I guess there's nothing better to do in this area,' Victoria Ochoa said. According to Ochoa, community members start to see a spike in crimes like this after schools get out. 'I've lived here almost three years now. We do see an uptick during Christmas, during spring break, during Thanksgiving holiday, and especially summer,' Ochoa said.
