Family remembers Rockdale County High School senior shot and killed
Around a hundred family and friends gathered in Conyers Saturday afternoon for a balloon release in memory of 18-year-old, Justin Etienne.
Etienne died Wednesday at Denny Dobbs Park in Newtown County after being shot and killed during a Senior Skip Day event.
Police said Jarvis Hinton Jr., 16, of Covington, is facing charges of murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a person under the age of 18 and reckless conduct.

'A lot of this senseless gun violence needs to stop,' Etienne's father, Hugh Neil said. 'Young kids are not living to 20.'
Saturday, family, and friend shared memories of Etienne during the memorial at Earl O'Neal Park.
'Everyone said my son was the nicest kid ever,' said Etienne's mother, Tierra Neil. 'He was the most caring, genuine, he did not deserve this.'
His parents say Justin was a senior on the soccer team at Salem High School.
He had already been accepted to Georgia State University, but they say he was waiting on his SAT scores Friday to see if he got into Kennesaw State.

Now, they say instead of planning where he is going to college. They are now planning a funeral.
'I wish I was there to stand in front of those bullets to take it for my child. Y'all might as well kill me too,' said Tierra Neil. 'I don't even know how I'm going to get through this.'
His family is still planning his funeral services. The family set up a GoFundMe to help them pay for it.

The news of the passing of Allison Eichner last Wednesday was confirmed by two European news organization and a GoFundMe drive back home in Connecticut. This GoFundMe has been created to support Dan, Sean, and Joey — to help with funeral expenses, immediate needs, and to provide some peace of mind as they begin to find their way forward.' According to Irish Star reporting, Eichner 'died after being hit by a car near the Giant's Causeway in Northern Ireland on Tuesday' and 'was struck by a car near a hotel in Bushmills, Co Antrim. The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service said they treated her at the scene before rushing her to Causeway Hospital. She later died.' According to the Irish Star reporting, one person was taken into custody and was cooperative following the collision. According to the news site Independent, 'Cathy Stewart, 66, a special needs teacher from Benton, Illinois, lost control of an electric vehicle as she parked it outside a hotel in Bushmills.' Steward appeared in Northern Ireland court last week after being charged with causing death by careless driving, according to the Independent. According to Independent reporting on Friday, 'The vehicle was described as having 'suddenly bolted forward' into furniture, striking Allison Eichner, aged in her 40s and from Connecticut, on Wednesday afternoon.' 'CCTV footage of the collision was obtained from the hotel, and it shows a Ford Transit being parked in the disabled parking bay after which the passengers get out and make their way into the hotel entrance,' the constable told the court, according to the Independent. 'The driver's door appears to open slightly as though the driver was exiting the vehicle, however the vehicle moves forward slowly, and then suddenly bolts forward colliding with a light fixture, outdoor dining furniture and the victim who was sitting beside her brother on a bench. 'Her brother jumped out of the way but unfortunately the injured party sustained the full impact of the vehicle. 'The defendant was cautioned at the scene and gave an account consistent with the CCTV. The defendant stated she believed she had turned the car off before attempting to exit and as it rolled forward she tried to apply the foot brake however instead she hit the accelerator causing the collision,' the Independent reported. The constable said Stewart 'cooperated fully and appeared remorseful.' The constable said it was a rental vehicle, and Stewart had never driven an electric or hybrid vehicle before. Stewart was given bail, according to the Independent reporting.

A flight attendant impersonator scammed tickets for more than 120 flights
A 35-year-old man was convicted last week of scoring free airline flights by posing as a flight attendant dozens of times since 2018. Tiron Alexander was convicted by a federal jury of wire fraud and entering a secure area of an airport under false pretenses. Authorities said he took advantage of airline policies that allow pilots and flight attendants on competing carriers to fly free as 'non-revenue' passengers. According to the U.S. attorney's office, he fraudulently booked more than 120 flights on four airlines to Atlanta, Dallas, Las Vegas, Los Angeles and other destinations. Of those flights, 34 were on Spirit Airlines. In a news release, prosecutors said he claimed to work for seven airlines, providing about 30 badge numbers and dates of hire to book flights through a website available only to flight crew. He still had to provide his name and birth date to get a boarding pass. 'That information is how he was ultimately caught, with his fraudulently secured flights piling up in Spirit's log books until it was large enough for the airline to take notice,' court documents say. The Transportation Security Administration said it started investigating Alexander in 2023. 'While Alexander was able to board flights by fraudulently obtaining a boarding pass, he underwent all applicable TSA security procedures, including ID verification and physical screening, and did not pose a threat to other airline passengers,' the agency said in a statement. 'TSA remains dedicated to the security of the flying public and will continue to support the prosecution of those who break air travel laws.' A federal grand jury handed down the indictment in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida in October, but Alexander wasn't taken into custody until February. He was arrested trying to fly from San Francisco to Australia, according to court records. Alexander most recently worked for American Airlines in customer service, court documents say, but had been suspended without pay for about a year when he was arrested. His employment history, as detailed in filings, shows a long interest in aviation. He worked as a flight attendant for two regional airlines between 2013 and 2015. He had since tried to return to the skies, applying to the Alaska Airlines pilot academy in 2022 and for flight attendant jobs at Alaska and Delta in 2024. Prosecutors declined to comment; Alexander's public defenders did not respond to emails requesting comment Wednesday. Alexander was convicted of four counts of wire fraud, each of which could carry a maximum of 20 years in prison, and one count of entering a secure airport area under false pretenses, which has a maximum sentence of 10 years. Each count can also come with a top fine of $250,000. He is scheduled to be sentenced in August, according to the Justice Department's news release. It is not the first time a flier has pulled one over on an airline. Con man Frank Abagnale Jr. said he posed as a pilot as a teenager for free flights, a feat that got him portrayed by Leonardo DiCaprio in the movie 'Catch Me if You Can.'
