Haryana CM praises PM's 'transformative leadership' over Congress-era's indecisiveness

Chandigarh, Jun 10 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister, Nayab Singh Saini, addressing a press conference on the completion of 11 years of the Modi Government, praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership for "steering the nation from a time of indecision and inefficiency to an era of dynamic governance, national pride, and global recognition". He described the last 11 years as the most transformative phase of independent India, where each citizen has felt the presence of a decisive, sensitive, and effective government. "Today's India is led by Vision, Not Vote-Bank Politics," he said. Saini said, while the previous Congress-led governments were often marked by hesitation, weak decision-making and misplaced priorities, PM Modi gave India a clear vision, a strong direction, and an unwavering commitment to public welfare and nation-first governance. Before 2014, "the country was engulfed in an atmosphere of gloom and distrust. Corruption, and ineffective leadership had blocked our progress. Those days were ruled by fear, nepotism, regionalism, and corruption, there was a complete lack of fair governance. But under the PM Modi's leadership, India witnessed a decisive and transparent administration," said CM Saini. Saini said that when PM Modi assumed office in 2014, our economy ranked 11th worldwide. He highlighted how under PM's leadership India's economy rose from the 11th to being the fourth largest global economy. He said that India's total exports reached $825 billion in 2024-25. Engineering exports grew from $73 billion in 2014-15 to $117 billion in 2024-25. Besides this, Defence exports have risen 34‑fold since 2014, reaching Rs 23,622 crore in 2024-25, compared to just Rs 1,521 crore before 2016. In the past 10 fiscal years, India attracted around US $668 billion in FDI, up from US $323 billion during 2000-2014, said the Chief Minister. UNI GS RN

Eyes filled with tears on seeing Kashmir getting connected with the rail network: Farooq

Srinagar, June 10 (UNI) National Conference President and former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Farooq Abdullah, on Tuesday travelled on the recently inaugurated Katra-Srinagar Vande Bharat Express along with other leaders and party MLAs. After the train ride, an emotional Abdullah said his heart was overwhelmed and his eyes filled with tears on seeing Kashmir finally getting connected with the rail network of the country. Abdullah boarded the train from Srinagar Railway Station to Katra early Tuesday and expressed his admiration for the train. "I am very happy to be travelling on this train to Katra. It is one of the biggest benefits for us,' said the former Chief Minister. Launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the two semi-high-speed trains connecting the Valley with Jammu's Katra town began operations on June 7. Since their inauguration, the trains have gained immense popularity among locals, pilgrims, and tourists, with bookings already at full capacity. Vande Bharat Express trains run between Srinagar and Katra via Banihal six days a week, except Wednesday. Abdullah emphasized that the Vande Bharat service offers a much-needed alternative to the Srinagar-Jammu highway, which is often unreliable due to landslides and weather-related disruptions. 'The road gets closed frequently, and airfares shoot up during such times. This train will spare people from those difficulties,' he said. Abdullah also noted that the train service will positively impact the tourism sector and the region's horticulture industry. J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah's sons, Zamir and Zahir, J&K Minister Satish Sharma, Chief Minister's advisor Nasir Aslam Wani, and National Conference Chief Spokesperson and MLA Tanvir Sadiq also accompanied Abdullah on his train ride. At Katra railway station, Abdullah called the train the biggest gift for the people as it will also strengthen "love and friendship" between the two regions. He congratulated all the workers and engineers who built the world's highest bridge on the Srinagar-Katra train link. UNI MJR BD

ET Market Watch: Sensex Ends Flat as Banks Drag, Nifty Holds 25,100

Transcript D-Street hit the pause button today! The Sensex slipped 53 points, closing at 82,391, while the Nifty managed to hold above 25,100 — up just 1 point! Why flat? Banking stocks dragged the mood down despite global optimism and RBI policy support. HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank cooled off after a 4-day rally — both down nearly 0.6–0.8%. But tech saved the day! Nifty IT jumped 1.7% — thanks to hopes of a U.S.-China trade thaw. Top gainers? Tech Mahindra, Infosys, HCL Tech – all up over 1–2%. Big movers: • RattanIndia Enterprises +19% • Reliance Power +10% • Adani Power +5% However, real estate slipped: Prestige, DLF, Lodha — all fell 1–3%. Globally? Markets are cautiously optimistic as U.S.-China trade talks extend into a second day. Fed rate cut bets are cooling. Traders broadly expect the Federal Reserve to hold rates steady at its policy meeting next week, with markets pricing in just 44 basis points of rate cuts by December. The Indian rupee closed at 85.6025 against the U.S. dollar on Tuesday, nearly unchanged from its previous close of 85.62, mirroring muted moves in most Asian currencies. Oil prices edged higher on Tuesday, supported by optimism around ongoing U.S.-China trade talks and expectations of a slight dip in Saudi Arabia's crude exports to China. Brent crude futures rose 16 cents to $67.20 a barrel while U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude gained 14 cents, or 0.2%, to trade at $65.43. Stay tuned. It's a wait-and-watch week — especially for Fed policy next week.
