Yahoo06-02-2025

A new interactive and immersive experience is set to open in London.
The Minecraft Experience: Villager Rescue will open on April 4, 2025, at the new venue Corner Corner in Canada Water.
The experience will be the first of its kind in the UK and Europe and will allow fans to experience a real-world Minecraft adventure.
Visitors will enter seven Minecraft rooms and help rescue the village under siege from a zombie attack.
(Image: Minecraft) They will take on the role of heroes and must work to rescue the villagers and gather the essential ingredients to cure them before time runs out.
Armed with only their wit and a handheld Orb, known as the Orb of Interaction, players will embark on an epic journey through breathtaking biomes in search of the resources needed to craft a life-saving potion.
(Image: Minecraft) Kayleen Walters, head of franchise development at Mojang Studios, said: "After a successful debut in Dallas, TX this past autumn, we're excited to bring our first-ever immersive touring Minecraft Experience to its next stop in London.
"We are thrilled to offer players and fans new ways to engage with the Minecraft brand starting this April.
"Finding ways for our community to express their love for Minecraft both in-game and out is always top of mind for us, and we can't wait for more of our global community to attend the Minecraft Experience."
(Image: Minecraft) Visitors begin their 45-minute journey by entering the forest.
Guided by two unique characters—Tobin and Dayo—they will learn to use the Orb of Interaction, a glowing interactive handheld device which guides the user from room to room.
Moving into the village, they will receive their quest and embark on a rescue mission with a team of fellow Minecrafters.

On this interactive scavenger hunt, adventurers will journey through multiple Minecraft biomes while collecting resources and interacting with iconic mobs – some more friendly than others.
Minecrafters can gush over pandas and dolphins as well as face skeletons, spiders, and – of course – creepers.
Once they complete their quest, they can celebrate their heroic feat at the Minecraft Experience Trading Post with a crafty memento from the adventure.

McDonald's goes behind the scenes to hype fan-favorite Snack Wrap return

This story was originally published on Marketing Dive. To receive daily news and insights, subscribe to our free daily Marketing Dive newsletter. McDonald's is hyping up the July 10 return of the fan-favorite Snack Wrap to menus with a multichannel campaign, per details shared with Marketing Dive. The fast-food giant will release a TV commercial that spotlights consumers' social postings about the menu item, which was phased out nationally in 2016. The campaign also includes social posts, out-of-home ads and a Snapchat activation. To further build excitement, the brand launched a throwback web portal that features never-before-seen and behind-the-scenes content about the Snack Wrap and its return. Chicago-headquartered McDonald's announced the return of the Snack Wrap with a brief press release reminiscent of fellow Chicago icon Michael Jordan's famous fax about his return to basketball. In 1995, Jordan wrote 'I'm back;' in 2025, President of McDonald's USA Joe Erlinger wrote about the menu item, 'It's back.' The playful, culture-minded approach appears to inform the rest of the marketing around the Snack Wrap. A microsite resembles an old-school desktop screen, complete with Snack Wrap wallpaper and several folders, including 'The Fandom' (fan emails begging for the return of the item) and BTS (behind-the-scene images from a TV ad shoot). Additional folders (Promo Codes, Playlist, Merch Concepts, et cetera) are still under wraps. The campaign includes a fan-focused TV commercial that will roll out on July 10 and social posts and high-impact OOH placements boasting the return date. In addition, a Snapchat activation includes a first-to-market Reminder Ad that lets app users opt-in to receive both in-app and push notifications timed to the return of the Snack Wrap. Plus, an augmented reality experience will turn Snaps into branded news broadcasts about the return. The social media-heavy play connects with consumers where they have been requesting the return of the Snack Wrap. Other restaurant chains including Taco Bell and Chipotle have acknowledged and encouraged fan interaction on social media when returning items to menus. The Snack Wrap will return to participating restaurants nationwide as a permanent item in both spicy and ranch varieties. McDonald's longtime AOR Wieden+Kennedy New York spearheaded the effort, with creative by Golin, Agency 123, Alma, Boden, IW Group and Translation; digital marketing by Publicis Groupe; paid media by Admerasia, Publicis Groupe and Navigation Blvd; and support by additional agencies. McDonald's saw U.S. same-store sales drop 3.6% in Q1 2025 but has worked to overcome macroeconomic headwinds through culturally minded campaigns and a balance of value offerings and loyalty deals. The Snack Wrap campaign's multichannel approach resembles that of McDonald's efforts from recent years, including its celebration of Grimace's birthday and recent tie-ups with Minecraft and Pokémon. The chain has previously marketed limited-edition fan favorites like the McRib. McDonald's Japan Sales Boosted By Minecraft, Chiikawa Crazes

McDonald's Holdings Co. Japan saw a sales surge in May, helped by Happy Meal toys linked to two global crazes — the Minecraft movie and beloved character franchise Chiikawa. Same-store sales jumped 14.7% year-on-year, the largest monthly increase since December 2022. An array of toys, released in collaboration with A Minecraft Movie and Chiikawa, were well-received by customers, a McDonald's Japan spokesperson told Bloomberg News. Other factors helped too, such as a drink upsizing campaign.

New playground for kids of all abilities opens in south Wichita

The city of Wichita opened its first accessible playground on Wednesday, marking the first of a series of planned improvements to L.W. Clapp Memorial Park. At a ribbon-cutting late Wednesday morning, city leaders celebrated the opening of the playground and the installation of a piece of public art. 'This space is designated so that children of all abilities can play together side by side,' Reggie Davidson, Wichita Park and Recreation director, said. 'It's a place where everyone feels welcome, where every child belongs.' The art, a sculpture titled Voxel Clouds, was created by Brooklyn-based artist Osman Akan. Made up of steel and glass boxes, it is inspired by the video game Minecraft and by playgrounds of earlier decades, said Sonia Greteman, chair and creative director of the Greteman Group, a Wichita-based public arts consultant group that worked with the city. A dog park located on the other end of the park, which was supposed to open at the same time, remains closed to the public. It is littered with debris following flooding on Tuesday but city leaders said that after some cleanup, it will also open for use. Megan Lovely, the city's communications manager, said Wednesday afternoon that there is not yet an estimate for when it will open. The playground, dog park, sculpture and improved trails make up an initial phase of the city's upgrades to the park. The Wichita City Council approved the full scale $28 million plan in 2021. It includes restaurant and farmer's market spaces, a bandshell and an 'aviation hill' for spectators to watch planes flying to and from McConnell Air Force Base. This phase of the improvements cost about $6 million, according to the city's Capital Improvement Program. Clapp Park, formerly a golf course, is west of Oliver between Harry and Mount Vernon. Local residents and City Council member Mike Hoheisel, who represents District 3, where the park is located, said the area needed a safe place for kids to play. Jerry McGrew, a member of the District 3 advisory board who has lived across the street from the park for 25 years, said it was important to residents that the park remain a green space amid the improvements. 'This is what we need,' McGrew, a self-proclaimed 'nature lover,' said. McGrew said the area is 'a metropolis, all concrete and street lights.' 'But this is right in the middle of the city,' he said, praising the park's walking trails. 'It's comfortable, it's safe.' David Collier, another local resident, said he's excited to take his dog to the park when the dog park opens. 'I won't have to go all the way to a different dog park to have my dog enjoy the open spaces safely,' Collier said. Hoheisel said that part of the planning process involved consulting students at nearby Griffith and Colvin elementary schools. 'That's always great to bring the kids and the youth in and let them have some say in their playgrounds as well,' he said. 'Childhood is something we only get to experience once, and it is a fleeting experience. The memories made help develop us into who we become and what we give back to society as a whole. And every child should get a chance to enjoy being a child, especially when it comes to access to safe places to play.' Hoheisel said the city aims to increase the amount of accessible spaces for children, like the new playground. Previously, the only ADA-compliant playground in the area was at Sedgwick County Park. 'A parent on the south, north or east side shouldn't have to load up their child and drive over to the west side at Sedgwick County Park just so their child can play,' Hoheisel said. 'We're continuing to work on increasing accessibility to all residents in all areas, but it's appropriate that we celebrate the steps we make.'
