Inzaghi leaves Inter after Champions League final thrashing

Simone Inzaghi has left his position as manager of Inter Milan, the Serie A club said on Tuesday, after a humiliating 5-0 loss in the Champions League final against Paris St Germain capped a trophyless season. Inter suffered a dismal end to their campaign with Saturday's thrashing in Munich coming after they finished second in Serie A, one point behind champions Napoli, and were knocked out in the Coppa Italia semifinals 4–1 on aggregate by city rivals AC Milan. Inter face a race against time to appoint a new manager before the Club World Cup, with their campaign getting underway against Mexican side Monterrey on June 17. "The time has come for me to say goodbye to this club after a four-year journey, during which I gave everything," Inzaghi said in a separate statement. Inzaghi won six trophies at Inter: one Serie A title, two Coppa Italia triumphs and three Italian Super Cups. "I want to dedicate one last word to the millions of Nerazzurri (Inter) fans who cheered me on, cried and suffered in difficult moments and laughed and celebrated in the six triumphs we experienced together," he added. "I will never forget you." Italian media reported that Inzaghi will join Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal and will lead them in the Club World Cup in the United States. Inter confirmed that the decision for Inzaghi to leave the club was taken by mutual agreement earlier in the day. "I would like to thank Simone Inzaghi for the work done, for the passion shown and also for the sincerity in today's discussion, which led to the common decision to separate our paths," club president Giuseppe Marotta said in a statement. La Gazzetta dello Sport reported that Como's Cesc Fabregas and Olympique de Marseille's Roberto De Zerbi are potential candidates to replace Inzaghi at Inter. Several managers have left their clubs since the Serie A season wrapped up. Marco Baroni left Lazio after leading the club to a disappointing seventh-placed finish, paving the way for Maurizio Sarri's return a year after resigning. Atalanta are also searching for a new coach after Gian Piero Gasperini confirmed his departure on Saturday. Massimiliano Allegri returned as AC Milani coach for a second stint on Friday after the club sacked Sergio Conceicao after a season that saw them fail to qualify for any European competition.

A new fried chicken joint has opened in Abu Dhabi and it looks so tasty

BonBird has touched down in Abu Dhabi – and it's bringing buckets of hype (and actual buckets of chicken). If you've ever stood in a queue in Dubai for fried chicken served with oodles of flavour, chances are you've heard of BonBird. Now, the UAE-born brand is officially one of Abu Dhabi's new restaurants, setting up shop in Gardens Plaza, Khalifa City – and Abu Dhabi's fried chicken scene just got a serious upgrade. The new 60-seater spot is open daily from 10am to 1am, and it's got everything from burgers and wraps to big, saucy bowls and old-school buckets of the crispy stuff. Expect seasoning that doesn't hold back (hello, BonBird Chicken Salt and the XXX Hot) and a no-nonsense menu that reads like it was designed by someone who's actually eaten fried chicken in the early hours of the morning. BonBird might be dressed up like a trendy East London chicken shop, but there's more to it than neon signs and industrial lighting. It was launched by Yolk Brands in 2023 and has already gone international, with outposts in Qatar, Pakistan, and Oman. Next stop: the UK – with 50 locations in the works. As for the Abu Dhabi branch, it's pretty chill. Easy parking off Ahmed Bin Abulaziz Al Mubarak Street, open till late, and delivery is available via Deliveroo and Talabat if you'd rather eat your chicken horizontally on the sofa (no judgements here). Now open. Daily 10am-1am. Gardens Plaza, Khalifa City, @ More going on in Abu Dhabi You can now get a robotaxi from Zayed International Airport Trips to the airport just got an upgrade Abu Dhabi's best restaurants: Everywhere you should eat at least once Your dinner inspo is sorted 20 incredibly fun ways to explore Abu Dhabi after dark The city is at its most fascinating once the sun goes down

Among the newest additions in East Asia is SEN/KA TOKYO by The Crest Collection, set to open in the second half of 2029, marking the brand's debut in Japan. Also contributing to growth in the region are two developments in China: Hong Yuan Hotel by The Crest Collection, which opened in Haikou, Hainan Province, at the end of last year, and a property slated to open by mid-2026 in Wuhan's Donghu New Technology Development Zone, commonly known as Optics Valley. In the Middle East, Al Mahra Resort by The Crest Collection – the brand's first resort and its debut in the United Arab Emirates – will open in early 2027, to be followed by the brand's first property in Saudi Arabia, opening in Riyadh in 2028. This expansion into East Asia and the Middle East builds on the brand's growing traction in Southeast Asia. La Clef Bangkok by The Crest Collection, set to open in mid-2025, will become the brand's fourth property in the region, following the 2023 debut of The Grand Mansion Menteng by The Crest Collection in Indonesia, The George Penang by The Crest Collection in Malaysia and The Robertson House by The Crest Collection in Singapore. Meanwhile, the brand's seven other operational and pipeline properties are located across Europe, where The Crest Collection was first established in 2016. ADVERTISEMENT Ms Serena Lim, Chief Growth Officer, Ascott, said: 'Interest in luxury stays continues to rise in Asia and the Middle East, driven by travellers seeking meaningful connections to the region's rich culture and heritage. The Crest Collection meets this aspiration with its 'A Story Behind Every Door' brand promise, delivering culturally immersive experiences enriched by each property's distinctive identity, while enabling owners to tap into the strength of Ascott's global commercial ecosystem. Supported by our flex-hybrid model and multi-typology brand strategy, The Crest Collection is highly conversion-friendly, adapting seamlessly across serviced residences, hotels, resorts and other accommodation types. By tailoring solutions to the unique demands of each location, our market-driven approach empowers us to respond to evolving traveller expectations with agility and deliver sustained value for owners.' The luxury travel sector is projected to grow from US$1.4 trillion in 2024 to US$2.2 trillion by 2030, driven not just by affluence among the wealthy but also by younger travellers who are willing to pay top dollar for meaningful experiences[1]. With luxury travellers drawn to destinations that excite, along with surprising environments and experiences that speak to their individuality[2], it is clear that the true essence of luxury lies in celebrating unique stories rather than uniformity. Ms Tan Bee Leng, Chief Commercial Officer, Ascott said: 'Curating experiences that resonate with the expectations of the most discerning travellers has become the currency of modern luxury. Our most affluent guests are seeking emotional connection, personal transformation and cultural resonance. By integrating heritage narratives with thoughtfully curated hospitality, The Crest Collection offers our guests a luxurious and storied experience rooted in the unique identity of each property and its locale. Guests are immersed in a richly storied environment – from copper screen partitions in the lobby and architecture echoing Song-era design, to Chinese paintings depicting maritime trade scenes in the restaurant, all reflecting Haikou's historic role as a hub of global cultural and commercial exchange. Al Mahra Resort by The Crest Collection located on Marjan Island, Ras Al Khaimah, takes its name from the Arabic word 'mahra', referring to a young female horse – a symbol of youthful grace, strength and noble spirit in Bedouin heritage. Reflecting these qualities, the 539-key beachfront resort will blend Arabian heritage with contemporary design, offering guests an experience rooted in the UAE's rich equestrian and cultural legacy. The Crest Collection will also make its debut in Saudi Arabia when it opens in Riyadh, offering bespoke hospitality in the Kingdom's capital with a stay experience inspired by local culture.
