Leading jockeys Firdaus, Fazli intensify battle for supremacy

Published on: Saturday, June 21, 2025 Published on: Sat, Jun 21, 2025 Text Size: Jockey Firdaus (with 15 wins to date) on Triten. Kota Kinabalu: This Sunday's Race 2 (Initiation) over 1,100m sandtrack is a decent field of 9 starters with All is Well marked early as favourite. First Time has demonstrated consistency and should pose a serious threat. Roxette is industrious at this level. With season leading jockey Firdaus on board, she can fight for top position. Two wins behind Firdaus, jockey Fazli D has decent chance to narrow the gap on board the promising Honey Prize. Race 3 (Class 5) over 1,000m sandtrack is the highlight race. Kokorriko, Lucky Lady II and Fight Again are expected to challenge one another. Hunter Champ is honest-type and has ability to keep pace behind the leaders and attack in the final phase. Advertisement Diva is up-and-coming with two 'prep' runs at higher Class 5 competition and looks ready this time. Placing is within her reach. Race 4 (Class 5) over 1,000m sandtrack sees Brilliant Crystal ready to see off Tambalang's speed-kings Amoyy and Apin Apin Prince. Quality-types Cooler Than Ice and Brave Guard can be considered for minor placings. Royal Sabah Turf Club's (RSTC) Kinabalu Light is entered for Race 11 (Class 5A) over 1,600m at Selangor Turf Club this Sunday. Up against a congested field of 13 other runners, Kinabalu Light has his work cut out. This race is too close to call with Kick and Run Buddy Run at top of the list. Superbowl should find Class 5 competition less intensive and has experience to fight for first position. Chinese Dream is wily and talented type, a minor placing is within his means. Another RSTC runner Vittoria Perfetta is entered for Race 12 (Class 5B) over 1,600m. Hardworking jockey PH Seow is on board which should give Vittoria Perfetta a decent run. Top Confidence is favourite with two impressive wins and a second position in his last three runs. Forest Gold and Tigarous round up the selections. For detailed racing information for Tambalang and Off-Course races, visit RSTC's website or Facebook. * Follow us on our official WhatsApp channel and Telegram for breaking news alerts and key updates! * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news?
