Nimrit Kaur Ahluwalia was sexually molested in SC: 'He Touched My Butt, tried to put hand inside my...'
Nimrit Kaur Ahluwalia, who is best known for her portrayal of 'Meher Kaur Dhillon' in Choti Sardani , opened up about a shocking incident of facing sexual abuse in her past. At the age of 19, while interning as a law student, she had visited the apex court for a hearing. She mentioned that the place was jampacked, and a man who was standing behind her, tried touching her inappropriately. At first, she though it might have happened mistakenly, but she was shocked what happened further.
Nimrit changed her location quickly and moved to another corner of the courtroom. However, the man continued to follow her. She was terrified when he not just touched her butt again, but also tried to put his hand inside her shirt.
In a conversation with Hauterrfly, Nimrit revealed, 'I felt someone's hand on my butt first. I thought I was overthinking it because everyone was in close contact. I looked back, and this guy was looking straight ahead—not making eye contact or even acknowledging my presence. I started getting a little anxious, and thought, okay, let me just change my position. Then, I felt someone touch my hand and it was the same guy again. He had moved from behind along with me, then again he did that to touched my butt. I could feel tears well up in my eyes, I was in such a state of shock.'
Then, a female lawyer at the court observed Nimrit in an uncomfortable state. She firmly took a stand on Nimrit's behalf, and smacked the man's face for her behaviour. When chaos erupted within minutes, Police officials were then called and the matter was handed over.
Getting sentimental while talking about it, Nimrit also thanked the female lawyer for supporting her that day. 'It's just that you mentally feel like you're in a safe space because you're standing in the Supreme Court—and yet, it still happened,' she added.
Meanwhile, on the professional front, Nimrit made her film debut opposite Guru Randhawa, with Shaunki Sardar.

Vishalgad Urs not held, yet 1,300 devotees went to fort for prayers at dargah

Kolhapur: Around 1,300 devotees visited Vishalgad to offer prayers at Hazrat Peer Malik Rehan's shrine on Sunday. The traditional four-day Urs, scheduled to begin on Sunday, was cancelled following restrictions by the state archaeology department. The Bakrid qurbani proceeded according to Bombay high court guidelines. While the Urs typically draws thousands of attendees, recent campaigns by right-wing organisations against encroachments have led to reduced attendance. The previous year's event was marred by violence over encroachment issues. The animal sacrifice ritual was conducted under strict protocols, requiring enclosed private premises. The area was surrounded by metal sheets to ensure compliance. Devotees from various regions queued early to climb to the fort, presenting identification such as Aadhaar cards for registration. The administration limited visits between 9am and 5pm, prohibiting overnight stays. All 1,300 registered visitors completed their darshan/prayers within the stipulated time. Sub-divisional officer Sameer Shingate, of the Pannala division, said: "Everyone left the fort before 5pm. Police bandobast and scrutiny will remain in place for three more days." Although the dargah trust officials proposed a modest Urs celebration, authorities implemented a complete prohibition. Kolhapur's superintendent of police Yogeshkumar Gupta said the administration has challenged the HC ruling permitting animal sacrifice at the fort in the Supreme Court. Right-wing groups opposed the HC decision, demanding the prohibition of both Urs and animal sacrifice at the historic 11th-century fort. These groups celebrated the administration's decision to ban the Urs as their success. Citing lack of evidence, Telangana high court acquits three in drugs case

Hyderabad: The Telangana high court quashed a drugs case registered in 2022 at Bolarum against three people, including a BPO employee and his friends. While hearing a petition filed by the trio, the high court observed that they could not be held responsible based solely on the confession of the other accused, especially in the absence of any corroborative evidence. Hence, the continuation of criminal proceedings against the trio is nothing but an abuse of the process of law, the court said while quashing the FIR. Delivering the judgment, Justice K Sujana noted that the police failed to collect any evidence linking the petitioners to the alleged crime apart from the confession of another accused. The police also did not send the seized mobile phones of the three petitioners to the FSL for analysis, nor were their blood samples sent for medical examination to prove that they consumed the alleged drugs, the judge remarked. 'In view of the observations based on the Supreme Court judgments, the trio cannot be held liable for the alleged crime,' said Justice Sujana. The prosecution contended that the accused were transporting hash oil from Visakhapatnam and supplying it to users in the city. The police caught two individuals, and six hash oil tins and Rs 1,500 cash were also seized from them. However, counsel for the petitioners argued that no drugs were found in possession of the petitioners, nor were they involved in sourcing any prohibited narcotic drugs. 'Falsely implicated' 'They were falsely implicated in the case solely based on the confession of one of the accused. Even according to the Supreme Court in the Tofan Singh vs State of Tamil Nadu case, this evidence is not admissible,' the counsel for the petitioner argued.

Phone tapping: Prime accused Prabhakar Rao lands in Hyderabad, expected to appear for questioning today

Former Special Investigation Bureau (SIB) chief T. Prabhakar Rao, who is prime accused in the phone tapping case, anded in Hyderabad from the USA on Sunday night, and he is expected to appear before the West Zone police in Hyderabad on Monday for questioning. An official close to the investigation confirmed that Mr Rao landed in Hyderabad after the Supreme Court granted him protection from arrest, ordering the accused to appear before the investigating officer within three days of receiving the passport/travel documents. This comes after Mr Rao's passport was revoked by the Indian authorities and a Red Corner Notice was issued against him due to his prolonged absence for interrogation in the phone tapping case. Mr Rao has been citing ill health to stay in the US after the case was registered by Punjagutta police of Telangana more than a year ago. The phone tapping scandal surfaced after former Special Intelligence Branch (SIB) DSP Praneeth Rao was arrested on March 13, 2024. Panjagutta police detained him from his residence in Rajanna-Sircilla district, following a complaint by his superior, Additional SP D. Ramesh, who alleged that Rao had unlawfully intercepted the phone calls of several high-profile political leaders and officials.
