Pooja Bhatt was ‘abusive' on the set of Dhokha, Muzammil Ibrahim says he was mistreated: ‘I used to have nightmares'

Muzammil Ibrahim made a name for himself as a supermodel before he decided to debut as an actor. He made his debut with the film Dhokha, which was produced by Mahesh Bhatt and directed by Pooja Bhatt. In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Muzammil opened up about the extremely difficult time during the shoot when he was mistreated and disrespected by Pooja. Muzammil shared he had nightmares about going to work and did not expect this kind of behaviour at all. During the interview, Muzammil shared, 'I was called unprofessional during that time by Pooja Bhatt. She had a temperament, an attitude which was very disrespectful for actors. Bhatt saab used to like me a lot because I was a good actor. I was just a kid that time, around 20, and the way I was treated on that set I cannot even begin to say… it was so heinous. I was respectful, but I had expectations. But the way I was mistreated I had no expectations after that. She used to verbally abuse a lot.'
Muzammil shared that he didn't do Raaz 2 after the experience on Dhokha. He added, 'I was so scared, I was nightmarish. I was a supermodel in India, respected in a very different way and the way I was treated there… Mahesh Bhatt saab saw what was happening and tried to tell her not to do that as well. But it escalated when Bhatt saab was not on set. I used to hear such stories on set where Pooja said that actors should be like dogs and should sit when told. I come from a small family and I was so scared, the articles that were written to sabotage me… I did not want to attach myself to that situation. I used to have nightmares and used to pray that I survive the whole day. I went through a lot of depression.'
Pooja Bhatt's Dhokha opened to positive reviews, with Muzammil receieving particular praise. The film also starred Tulip Joshi, Anupam Kher and Gulshan Grover in pivotal roles.

Thug Life box office collection day 2: Kamal Haasan film sees big drop, Hindi version wiped out by Housefull 5

Thug Life box office collection day 2: Mani Ratnam and Kamal Haasan's much-hyped reunion after 37 years has not quite panned out the way the two stalwarts would have hoped for. Thug Life, their new film, has opened to lukewarm reviews and is not faring too well at the box office. On Friday, the second day of its release, the film saw a major drop. (Also read: Mani Ratnam fans get nostalgic for Nayakan, Thalapathi, Guru after lukewarm response to Thug Life) According to Sacnilk, Thug Life earned ₹7.50 crore in all languages on Friday, a steep 55% drop from its opening day figure of ₹15.50 crore. This takes its two-day India total to ₹23 crore. Interestingly, Akshay Kumar's comedy Housefull 5, which released on Friday, earned that much on its opening day itself. The release of Housefull 5 was also detrimental to Thug Life's business in the Hindi-speaking regions. Billed as a pan-India film, Thug Life was heavily marketed in the north as well. However, it opened its Hindi business at a paltry ₹65 lakh. Trade insiders predict the number for day 2 to be somewhere in the ₹25-30 lakh range. This means that Thug Life may struggle to even reach ₹5 crore net in Hindi in its lifetime, a rather disappointing figure for a star of Kamal Haasan's stature. But Thug Life is not doing too great in Tamil either. Its ₹23-crore two-day haul is far below Kamal Haasan's last box office hit, Vikram. The Lokesh Kanagaraj film had earned ₹60 crore net in its first two days upon release in 2022. Even Indian 2, the box office disappointment that was released last year, had fared better, netting ₹44 crore in its first two days at the ticket window. Clearly, Thug Life has a lot of catching up to do if it wants to stay afloat. Thug Life has notably suffered due to a non-release in Karnataka following Kamal Haasan's controversial statement on the Kannada language. Thug Life also features Trisha, Silambarasan, Joju George, Ashok Selvan, Nasser, Abhirami and others. The music for the film is by maestro AR Rahman while the cinematographer is Ravi K Chandran and editor is A Sreekar Prasad.

'Thug Life' box-office report: Kamaal Haasan's magnum opus scores lower than 'Vikram ' and 'Indian 2' on day 1, loses momentum on day 2

Kamal Haasan and Silambarasan 's much-anticipated crime drama Thug Life, helmed by acclaimed filmmaker Mani Ratnam , had a fair opening at the Indian box office . Despite debuting on a non-holiday Thursday, the film managed to attract a sizeable audience, though it is anticipated that Friday collections may dip before possibly rebounding over the weekend. However, when stacked against Kamal Haasan's previous high-grossing releases, Thug Life started off on a relatively subdued note. Early box office tracking data from Sacnilk revealed that Thug Life garnered a net domestic earning of ₹17 crore on its opening day. While this figure reflects a healthy turnout given the regional ban in Karnataka, it still lags behind Haasan's earlier films. Pre-release ticket sales were reportedly strong, with advance bookings amounting to approximately Rs 13.89 crore net. Unfortunately, the momentum didn't carry into the film's second day. Preliminary estimates show that Friday collections dropped to around Rs 7 crore. As of now, the total earnings across the first two days hover around Rs 23 crore—a figure that signals a modest start for a film of this scale. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like An engineer reveals: 1 simple trick to get all TV channels Techno Mag Learn More Undo Comparing opening-day revenues, Thug Life delivered Kamal Haasan's weakest first-day performance among his latest trio of films. His recent venture, Indian 2, directed by Shankar, despite receiving lukewarm feedback, pulled in Rs 25.6 crore net on Day 1. Meanwhile, Vikram, which was a massive box office success directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, opened to a record Rs 32.05 crore, cementing its place as one of Haasan's most financially successful projects. Thug Life's prospects were further dampened by a statewide ban in Karnataka, prompted by a controversial statement Haasan made regarding the Kannada language. While the movie saw releases in other regions, early viewer responses have been a mixed bag. Critics and audiences are divided in their reception, suggesting a challenging road ahead for the film's box office trajectory. About the Film Released in 2025, Thug Life is a Tamil-language action-crime drama directed by Mani Ratnam, who co-authored the screenplay with Kamal Haasan. The movie was jointly produced by Raaj Kamal Films International, Madras Talkies, and Red Giant Movies. Alongside Haasan and Silambarasan, the ensemble cast includes Trisha Krishnan, Abhirami, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Ashok Selvan, Joju George, Nassar, Ali Fazal, Rohit Saraf, and Baburaj. The film marks the first collaboration between Haasan and Ratnam since the iconic Nayakan in 1987.
