Tax Day stress eating? April 15 food deals in Florida: Krispy Kreme, Burger King and more

It's Tax Day — although most Floridians have another couple of weeks to file — and restaurant chains across the country are offering customers freebies and discounts to celebrate the occasion and provide a little relief to the stress.
Whether you've already filed your taxes and are waiting on your tax refund, or need to file a tax extension, customers can get free or discounted treats at places like Burger King and Krispy Kreme, among others.
Tax Day always falls on April 15 unless that date falls on a weekend or holiday. This year, the date falls on a Tuesday. However, anyone in Florida who was affected by the hurricanes last year automatically gets an extension until May 1.

Buy any dozen doughnuts in a Krispy Kreme today and get a second Original Glazed dozen for just the prices of sales tax, the company said in a news release.
Anyone who orders a dozen online at the regular price for pickup or delivery can use the promo code "TAXBREAK" to get a second Original Glazed dozen for free, the company said.
There is a limit of two dozen per guest in-shop and a limit of one free dozen when ordering online.
'We know how stressful tax season can be, so we're making the last day to file your taxes a little sweeter with this great offer,' said Dave Skena, Krispy Kreme Chief Growth Officer, in the news release.

Today, Hooters customers can get one select appetizer for $4.15 when you apply your reward in the Hooters app at checkout at participating locations.
Customers can choose between mozzarella sticks, fried pickles, chips & queso, and buffalo shrimp, among other options.

Royal Perks members can get a 1-cent cheeseburger today with a $1+ purchase at participating Burger King restaurants.

Shake Shake is giving taxpayers a little more time. From now through April 27, Shake Shack customers can score a free single Black Truffle Burger, Black Truffle 'Shroom or Black Truffle Parmesan Fries with a purchase of $10.40 or more, using code "TRUFFLETAX" at checkout.
The Black Truffle menu is one of Shake Shack's best-performing limited-time menus of all time, according to the chain.

Potbelly shops nationwide are aiming to ease Tax Day blues by offering customers a free Original sandwich with the purchase of any Original or Big sized sandwich on Tuesday April 15, the company said.
