Donald Trump has signed an executive order to keep TikTok running in the US for another 90 days to give his administration more time to broker a deal to bring the social media platform under American ownership.
'As he has said many times, President Trump does not want TikTok to go dark. This extension will last 90 days, which the administration will spend working to ensure this deal is closed so that the American people can continue to use TikTok with the assurance that their data is safe and secure,' White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a statement on Tuesday.

After Trump shared that he'd won at least 20 club championships at the 14 golf courses he owns, sportswriter Rick Reilly — who authored the 2019 book 'Commander in Cheat' — poured cold water on the bold assertion. 'Trump's going around telling people he has won 20. But that's 100 percent a lie,' Reilly told Vox. 'I actually played with him once, and he told me how he does it: Whenever he opens a new golf course, because he owns 14 and operates another five, he plays the first club champion by himself and declares that the club championship and puts his name on the wall.' As Wednesday's conversation switched gears to the rising tensions in the Middle East, Trump swiftly stopped short of confirming the United States' role in the conflict. "I can't say that," he said. "I may do it, I may not do it. Nobody knows what I want to do. But I can say this: Iran's got a lot of trouble and wants to negotiate." Though Trump appeared uninterested in discussing Iran, the 79-year-old was more than happy to talk about the nearly 100-foot-tall flagpoles that were being installed on the north and south lawns of the White House. 'It is my Great Honor to announce that I will be putting up two beautiful Flag Poles on both sides of the White House, North and South Lawns. It is a GIFT from me of something which was always missing from this magnificent place,' Trump wrote on Truth Social. Edward Walsh sworn in as US ambassador to Ireland
American businessman Edward Walsh has been sworn in as the new US ambassador to Ireland. The ceremony took place in the Oval Office with US President Donald Trump this evening, Mr Walsh is the founder and president of a New Jersey-based construction and project management company. Mr Walsh is a member of Trump National Golf Club Bedminster, one of Mr Trump's golf resorts, where he has won the club championship. He will move to the US ambassador's residence in Phoenix Park in Dublin soon. Edward 'Ed' Walsh was introduced as a very close friend of the US president during a Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing last May. "To our friends in Ireland, you're getting one of the closest friends President Trump has and that will benefit you because when Ed picks up the phone President Trump will answer," said Republican Senator Lindsey Graham.

Trump used the opportunity to begin talking about his mass deportation efforts. "We're taking them out by the thousands. Murderers, drug dealers, people that are mentally insane, from insane asylums," Trump began. His comments come as undocumented people could be deported to Guantanamo Bay in Cuba in Trump's intensified war on illegal immigrants. The construction workers, who helped erect two 88-foot-tall flagpoles, one on the North Lawn and one on the South Lawn, at Trump's direction, shook their heads. "If there were, we'll find out," Trump continued. "Your whole life will be destroyed because of this press conference. They'll destroy these people. I didn't want to tell them that before they stood up," Trump said. "Don't worry, I think you're gonna be OK," he told the workers. The president received swift backlash for the comments on social media as Americans were left stunned. One incredulous person wrote on X: "He said this…to the people…putting up his flagpoles?!?" A second responded: "Cruelty is fun for him." "He. Is. Insane," another said. One claimed the cruel joke indicated a cognitive decline. "He's a cruel, demented man. Some people with dementia become very mean-spirited," they wrote. Another agreed, adding: "He is deranged and consumed with cruelty." Some said the workers should have put down their gear and left after the insulting remarks. On Tuesday, Trump said in a post on Truth Social that the flagpoles were a gift from him to the White House. He wrote: "It is my Great Honor to announce that I will be putting up two beautiful Flag Poles on both sides of the White House, North and South Lawns.
