Two killed after MPV crashes into divider in Tanjong Karang
TANJONG KARANG: Two men, including a senior citizen, were killed in an accident at Km 65.5 of Jalan Klang-Teluk Intan, near Jalan Bernam, Batu 10, yesterday morning.
Their vehicle is believed to have skidded and crashed into a concrete road divider.
Kuala Selangor district police chief Superintendent Azaharudin Tajudin said they received information about the incident at 9.37am.
He said preliminary investigations revealed the multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) was travelling from Teluk Intan, Perak, to Sentul, Kuala Lumpur.
"Family members informed us that both victims had gone fishing the previous night, and the accident occurred on their way back home.
"The 53-year-old driver lost control of the vehicle, which veered off to the left side of the road before crashing into the concrete divider. The MPV then landed in a drain," he said when contacted today.
Azaharudin added that due to the impact, both the driver and the 69-year-old passenger were thrown from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
Further investigations are ongoing under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
