UEFA Conference League: Chelsea beat Real Betis to become the first club to win all major European titles
Chelsea have written their name in the history of European competitions after winning the UEFA Conference League. The London-based club became the first to win all five UEFA men's senior club tournaments following their 4-1 victory against the Spanish side Real Betis.
Abde Ezzalzouli scored for Real Betis within 10 minutes of the match getting underway and led the game throughout the first half. However, a strong performance from Chelsea's goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen kept the score within the Premier League side's reach.
In the second half, Chelsea looked more confident on the ball and operated it through the open spaces on the flanks, which was not seen in the first 45 minutes. A quick counter from the right flank saw Cole Palmer make a majestic run and deliver a pinpoint curler towards a running Enzo Fernandez, who headed it into the net.

Thereon, the match was completely in Chelsea's hands. Minutes later, Nicholas Jackson gave the lead to the two-time UEFA Champions League title holders. Jadon Sancho and Moises Caicedo also joined the party and settled the match, writing the name of the club in a unique part of the history of the UEFA competitions.
Chelsea went from nearly getting knocked out in the qualifiers to lifting the trophy
Chelsea's European trophy hunt almost ended in August 2024. English clubs do not have to go through playoff rounds except in the Conference League. Chelsea secured a 2-0 victory over Swiss club Servette in the first leg of the playoff round.
In the second leg, Servette made a comeback and scored two goals to tie up the aggregate score, but a consolation goal from Chelsea helped them secure a shaky victory in the dying minutes of the match. This could have ended the European campaign for Enzo Maresca's Chelsea side.

From losing to Servette to beating an in-form Real Betis, it was a journey that will help Enzo Maresca dream bigger with his side.
Winning the UEFA Conference League trophy was a historic feat for the Blues. Success in UEFA's newest club competitions means that Chelsea now have a unique combination of European trophies, having already claimed the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League and UEFA Super Cup in addition to the discontinued UEFA Cup Winners' Cup.
Chelsea have now won nine men's UEFA club competitions, positioning them eighth in the all-time rankings behind Real Madrid (26), AC Milan (17), Barcelona (14), Liverpool (13), Bayern München (12), Juventus (11) and Ajax (10).

'We Are In It Together': MI's Post For Captain Hardik Pandya Goes Viral
Last Updated: Hardik Pandya led the Mumbai Indians in 15 matches of IPL 2025 and won nine of them. He finished the season with 224 runs and 14 wickets. Mumbai Indians' campaign in the ongoing 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) came to an end on Sunday (June 1). The Mumbai-based franchise suffered a heartbreaking defeat by five wickets against Punjab Kings in the second qualifier match played at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. MI, after being invited to bat first by PBKS, posted a total of 203 runs on the board for the loss of six wickets, but the Shreyas Iyer-led side rode on his unbeaten 87-run knock to chase down the 204-run target in 19 overs for the loss of five wickets. The win over MI helped PBKS book a place in the IPL 2025 final, where they will take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Ahmedabad on Tuesday (June 3). A day after MI's hopes of winning their sixth IPL title ended, the franchise took to X to share a post for captain Hardik Pandya, who faced criticism from certain sections of fans for his ordinary performances in this year's IPL. In a tweet for Hardik, which is now going viral on the internet, MI wrote, 'MI's proud of you and the grit the team showed throughout the season. Through wins and through losses, we are in it together, HP." MI's proud of you and the grit the team showed throughout the season. Through wins and through losses, we are in it together, HP 💙 #MumbaiIndians #PlayLikeMumbai #TATAIPL — Mumbai Indians (@mipaltan) June 2, 2025 In the 2025 edition of the IPL, Hardik led MI in 15 matches and won nine of them. He, however, failed to do much with the bat and ball and finished the season with 224 runs and 14 wickets. MI fans and team management had high expectations from Hardik in the second qualifier match against Punjab Kings, but he could only manage to score 15 runs from 13 balls after coming out to bat at No. 5 and conceded 19 runs in his quota of two overs. On the other hand, PBKS captain Iyer scored an unbeaten 87 runs from 41 balls with the help of five fours and eight sixes. Iyer's super show with the bat helped PBKS qualify for the IPL final after 11 years and also become the first team in the world to chase down a total of more than 200 runs against the Mumbai Indians in T20s. The 30-year-old right-handed batter also became the first captain in the world to qualify for the IPL final with three different teams. If PBKS manage to get the better of RCB on Tuesday, then he will become the first captain to win IPL titles with two different teams. First Published:

Max Verstappen vs George Russell: World champion accused of 'deliberate' collision, now one point away from race ban
Mercedes driver George Russell has accused Formula One world champion Max Verstappen of deliberate crash during Sunday's Spanish Grand Prix. Verstappen has now accumulated 11 penalty points in a 12-month period. read more Max Verstappen was penalised after colliding with George Russell at the Spanish Grand Prix. Image: Reuters Formula One world champion Max Verstappen is one penalty point away from a race ban after being punished for driving into Mercedes rival George Russell during Sunday's Spanish Grand Prix. In addition to a 10-second time penalty, dropping the Red Bull driver from fifth to 10th, stewards handed Verstappen three penalty points on his super-licence. That took his tally to 11 for a 12-month period, with 12 points triggering a one-race ban. Two of those points expire at the end of June but there are two races before that. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD The Red Bull driver had clashed twice with Russell at the restart following a late safety car period at the Circuit de Catalunya. The pair made contact first at Turn One when Verstappen, who was defending fourth place on hard tyres against a rival on quicker softs, was pushed wide but stayed ahead. He was then told by Red Bull to hand back the place. Stewards noted Verstappen 'was clearly unhappy with his team's request. 'At the approach to Turn 5, Car 1 (Verstappen) significantly reduced its speed thereby appearing to allow Car 63 (Russell) to overtake,' they added. 'However, after Car 63 got ahead of Car 1 at the entry of Turn 5, Car 1 suddenly accelerated and collided with Car 63.' 'INTENTIONAL RETALIATION'? The incident, as well as an earlier clash with Ferrari's Charles Leclerc, triggered accusations of road rage and a return to the 'Mad Max' days of old, before Verstappen's four world titles. 'It looked like a very intentional retaliation. Wait for the opponent, go ramming into him, just like you felt the other guy rammed into you at Turn One,' said Mercedes' 2016 world champion Nico Rosberg on Sky Sports television. 'That's something which is extremely unacceptable and I think the rules would be a black flag, yes. If you wait for your opponent to bang into him, that's a black flag.' McLaren's Lando Norris, who finished second, watched a replay in the cool-down room and commented: 'I've done that before in Mario Kart.' STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD Russell told reporters he did not know what Verstappen was thinking. 'It felt very deliberate. It is something I have seen numerous times in sim (video) racing and i-racing and never have I seen it in a Formula One race so that was something new,' added the Briton. 'It is a shame because Max is one of the best drivers in the world but manoeuvres like that are totally unnecessary. It lets him down and it is a shame for all of the young kids looking up to us, aspiring to be Formula One drivers. 'It is something you see in go-karting but never in F1. It doesn't make sense to crash into somebody and risk damaging your own car and risk a penalty. And he could have come back to fight for the podium.' Verstappen, who had accused Leclerc of ramming into him, accepted the two had different opinions. 'I'll bring some tissues next time,' the Dutch driver said when told of Russell's concerns.
