Time of India3 hours ago

In a bid to make travel easy and offer better connectivity, there has been a major development in the name of Gorakhpur Link Expressway. Travellers and commuters in eastern Uttar Pradesh will now be able to enjoy a smooth journey as the highly anticipated Gorakhpur Link Expressway is set to open on June 20, 2025.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will inaugurate this 91.35-kilometer corridor that is set to change travel in the region by significantly cutting down travel times.
Connections Across Eastern UP
The new expressway connects Jaitpur village in Gorakhpur district to Salarpur village in Azamgarh. Once operational, travellers will be able to reach from Gorakhpur to Lucknow in about 3.5 hours, down from over five hours previously. This improved connectivity also benefits those heading to key cultural and business hubs such as Varanasi and Prayagraj, making travel more convenient and efficient.
Safety Features
Safety is at the forefront of the Gorakhpur Link Expressway's design. A dedicated safety fleet comprising SUVs driven by trained ex-servicemen will patrol the expressway, providing quick assistance in emergencies. Ambulances will be stationed every 45 kilometers, along with cranes and hydra vehicles ready to respond to vehicle breakdowns or accidents promptly.
The expressway will be equipped with an Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS) featuring CCTV cameras, speed monitoring devices, and automatic number plate recognition technology.

Amenities and Infrastructure
The expressway's robust infrastructure includes four lanes (expandable to six), seven flyovers, 34 bridges, and numerous underpasses for vehicles and pedestrians, ensuring a safe and uninterrupted journey. Facilities such as two toll plazas and utility centers equipped with petrol and CNG pumps, restaurants, and vehicle servicing points will cater to travelers' needs along the route.
Boosting Tourism
The expressway is expected to spur economic development by supporting industrial growth near Gorakhpur with the upcoming 5,500-acre Greater GIDA industrial township. This development promises new jobs and investment opportunities, further contributing to the region's prosperity and making it a more attractive destination for business and leisure travelers alike.
Travellers planning trips through eastern Uttar Pradesh can look forward to a safer, faster, and more comfortable journey starting this June.

Prayers for safe return: 20 of a family from Dariyabad on pilgrimage stranded in Iran

1 2 3 4 Prayagraj: About 20 members of a Dariyabad-based family from Sangam city, who had gone on a pilgrimage to Iran on May, remain stranded in the west Asian country amid escalating tensions with Israel. The group includes majority of elderly people and two minors. They were supposed to return on June 13. However, due to Israel's strike on Iran and the subsequent cancellation of flights, the family members were shifted from Tehran to Qom city and are anxiously awaiting return. The worried family members in Sangam city are connecting with the embassy and officials concerned for the safe return of their kin. Dariyabad resident Sameer Naqvi told TOI: "As many as 20 members from the family, including my mother Huma Nazin (58), Syeda Begum (grandmother), uncle, aunt, and others, are currently stranded in Qom city of Iran. They have taken shelter in a basement, and we are in constant touch with them since the strife began." Sameer, a software engineer, added: "We are worried and running from pillar to post for their safe return as most people of the group are elderly and have a limited stock of medicines and money." Sameer claimed that family members are facing a language barrier in Iran, as majority in Iran speak Persian (Farsi) and are unable to understand Hindi or English. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like What She Did Mid-Air Left Passengers Speechless medalmerit Learn More Undo "Moreover, we are finding it difficult to send them money in Iran due to the ongoing crisis. We appeal to the Indian govt to bring them back at the earliest," said Sameer adding that the group was getting just one time meal in Iran. The group is among over 150 people from different localities of Sangam city stranded in strife-torn Iran. They include students, families and working professionals who travelled to Iran for education, business, and religious pursuits. Indian authorities, along with the embassy in Tehran and local state officials, are closely monitoring the situation and coordinating safe arrangements for those stuck in the region. As of now, most people from Sangam city and adjoining districts stranded in Iran are reported to be safe, and their families are hopeful that with the govt's intervention, they will be brought back soon.

Gemini Daily Horoscope Today, June 19, 2025: Feel deeply—then let it move on

Today, emotions may rise like waves—some unexpected, some familiar. But the stars advise, feel them, don't stay in them. Do not build your home inside sadness, anger, or doubt. You have the power to witness your feelings without becoming them. The day supports emotional awareness, not emotional overwhelm. The more you allow emotions to pass through gently, the more peaceful you become. This is a day for soft strength, not struggle. Gemini Love Horoscope Today In love, you might feel emotionally sensitive. If in a relationship, don't hold back how you feel—but also don't demand instant solutions. If single, a past connection may stir old memories. Feel what comes, but don't let it anchor you again. A new connection will only grow when your heart is light, not carrying old weight. Love today needs softness. Let the feelings come and go like clouds—not like storms that stay. Gemini Career Horoscope Today Career may bring emotional reactions today. Maybe someone's comment or feedback touches a nerve. Instead of reacting fast, take a breath and give space before answering. What feels personal might not be. Focus on work, and let your feelings flow naturally without getting trapped in them. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Here's A List Of Cheapest Steel Suppliers (See The List) Steel Suppliers | search ads Search Now Undo Write down thoughts if needed. Gemini Money Horoscope Today Financially, you may feel a mix of worry and desire today. Maybe you want to buy something to lift your mood or avoid a money talk that feels uncomfortable. Pause before spending. Emotional spending rarely satisfies. Sit with the feeling—maybe the real need is security, not shopping. Be honest about your money emotion today, not just the numbers. If you hold calm now, a better opportunity will come soon. Detach your finances from emotional waves, and peace will follow. Gemini Health Horoscope Today Health today depends on emotional regulation. You may feel a tight chest, shallow breathing, or digestive imbalance if you suppress feelings. Let emotions move through you in safe ways. Cry if needed, walk in nature, or write what you feel. Avoid spicy or cold foods—they may trigger internal heat. Keep the body cool, the breath steady, and the thoughts soft. Don't stay in one emotion too long. Healing comes when you stop attaching to every mood. Be gentle with your heart. Social security shock for Americans: Retirement trust fund could run dry by 2035, report warns

The Social Security Board of Trustees issued a new warning that the trust fund that helps pay retirement benefits could run out of money by 2033, potentially slashing monthly payments for future retirees, as per a report. The Social Security Board of Trustees' annual report showed that only 77% of scheduled benefits will be payable at that time, as per CNBC. Social Security at Risk Social Security's combined trust funds, which include the Old-Age and Survivors Insurance and Disability Insurance trust funds, are expected to have only revenue to pay scheduled benefits and administrative costs until 2034, as per CNBC. The projection indicated that 81% of the combined benefits will be payable at that time, according to the report. ALSO READ: Barron Trump's $40 million crypto windfall? Disability Insurance Fund Stable for Now, Medicare at Risk The Disability Insurance Trust Fund will be able to pay full benefits until 2099, and Medicare's Hospital Insurance trust fund, which is associated with Medicare Part A and pays for certain health care services, will be able to pay full benefits only until 2033, reported CNBC. Live Events Calls for Action from Leadership Social Security Administration Commissioner Frank Bisignano said that the financial status of the trust funds is a 'top priority' for the Trump administration, and he also urged Congress to 'protect and strengthen' the trust funds for the millions of Americans who will rely on the program 'now and in the future,' quoted CNBC. AARP CEO Myechia Minter-Jordan said, 'Congress must act to protect and strengthen the Social Security that Americans have earned and paid into throughout their working lives,' adding, 'as America's population ages, the stability of this vital program only becomes more important,' as quoted in the report. FAQs Is the Disability Insurance fund safe? Yes. It is projected to pay full benefits until at least 2099. Will I still get Social Security after 2033? Yes, but unless changes are made, you might only receive around 77% of your expected benefits, as per CNBC report.
