SEWA implements $29m water projects in Kalba

Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA) is implementing a number of projects in Kalba city at a cost of up to AED107.435 million ($29.25 million), as part of its efforts to improve and develop water transmission and distribution networks in the emirate of Sharjah.
The project aims to keep pace with the increasing demand for water to meet the needs of various development projects in the city, SEWA said.
Youssef Al Hammadi, Director of Kalba Department at SEWA, said that projects include extending the water network in the new Kalba Industrial Area at a cost of AED5 million and the first phase of the project will be completed this month. The second phase will begin after the area is prepared by the strategic partners, namely, the Planning and Survey Department and Kalba Municipality, to extend services there at a cost of AED3,665,111.
The project to extend a main water line from the industrial area to Al Buhaira neighbourhood area has also been completed at a cost of AED5 million and work is underway to extend a main water line to Wadi Al Helo area in addition to a new pumping station at a cost of AED43.769 million and the project is expected to be completed this month.
Work is also underway to extend a water line to the Jabal Aldeem project and new pumping and lifting stations at a cost of up to AED50 million. This project is scheduled to be completed by December 2025.

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is set to hold its 79th online auction for exclusive number plates, offering 350 distinctive plates consisting of three, four, and five-digit combinations for private vehicles, classic vehicles, and motorcycles. The auction includes plates bearing codes H through Z, covering the following categories: H I J K L M N O P Q R S T U V W X Y Z Registration for the auction opens on Monday May 19 2025, and will remain open for five days only. The auction will go live on Monday, May 26, 2025. All sales are subject to a 5 per cent Value Added Tax (VAT), and all participants must hold a valid traffic file in the Emirate of Dubai. To participate, bidders are required to submit a security cheque payable to RTA amounting AED5,000, along with a non-refundable participation fee of AED120. Payments can be made at the Customer Happiness Centres in Umm Ramool, Al Barsha, and Deira, or via credit card through the RTA website. The auction terms also require successful bidders to complete payment within 10 working days from the auction's closing date. Payments can be made at authorised service provider centres as follows: cash for amounts up to AED50,000, and certified cheque or credit card for amounts exceeding AED50,000. Transactions may also be completed at Customer Happiness Centres or via the RTA's website.

PureHealth reports 3% rise in Q1 net profit to $137.5m

PureHealth Holding, a leading healthcare group in the Middle East, reported a revenue increase of 8% year-on-year to AED6.6 billion ($1.8 billion) driven by growth across all of PureHealth's segments. EBITDA grew 5% year-on-year to AED1.1 billion and net profit grew 3% year-on-year to AED505 million ($137.49 million) in Q1-2025.
