Alabama forward, former Top 10 recruit reportedly enters NCAA transfer portal
According to multiple reports late Saturday night, Alabama Crimson Tide forward and former top recruit Derrion Reid has entered the NCAA transfer portal after one season in Tuscaloosa.
The fourth Crimson Tide player to do so this offseason, Reid joins the trio of Mouhamed Dioubate, Jarin Stevenson, and Naas Cunningham to depart Alabama since the conclusion of the 2024-25 season.

A key member of Alabama's 2024 recruiting class, Reid came to Tuscaloosa among the highest-rated recruits in the program's history, ranked as the nation's No. 10 overall player in the cycle according to the 247Sports Composite recruiting rankings. Reid, a five-star prospect, was also considered the No. 2 overall power forward in the class.
Once at Alabama, Reid made an immediate impact with the Crimson Tide this past season, starting 3-of-24 games to average 6 points and 2.8 rebounds per game on 45% shooting from the field. Reid, who also shot 26.3% from three, as well as 57.9% at the free throw line, dealt with injuries throughout the season, and missed a large portion of SEC play prior to returning in the NCAA Tournament.

Indiana shot 45.8% from the field and 40.7% from beyond the arc as the Fever connected on 11 3-pointers. Meanwhile, Chicago shot just 32.7% from the field and 20.0% from the 3-point line. Reese finished with only four points on a 2-of-7 shooting night. The former LSU star grabbed 12 rebounds. The Fever are now 2-0 in Commissioner's Cup play. Kamilla Cardoso and Rebecca Allen led Chicago with eight points apiece. Indiana returns to action on Tuesday at Atlanta (5-3) from Gateway Center at 6:30 p.m. CT. The two teams have split the season's first two meetings with Atlanta winning in Indiana on May 20, 91-90, and the Fever winning at Atlanta on May 22, 81-76. Clark will be reevaluated on June 9 and could possibly return at Atlanta. "I feel like I've made a lot of progress and I feel good, and I'm not going to rush coming back. It's just not worth it. Having Underwood will make a big difference, but Michigan will need to have talented players around him. One anonymous Big Ten coach thinks that there should be more focus on the running backs. 'The focus is on [Bryce] Underwood, but it should be on finding new backs to go with him,' the coach said, according to an article from On3. The one offensvie position group that Michigan should be feeling really good about is the RBs, so it's a bit surprising to see a Big Ten coach have that take. Speaking of the Crimson Tide, Michigan also picked up Alabama transfer Justice Haynes, who was one of the best RBs in the transfer portal. The Wolverines had a solid month on the recruiting trail in May, and they are hoping to see the momentum carry over into the summer. One player that is high on Michigan is four-star defensive lineman Alister Vallejo. Vallejo is down to three schools: Michigan, Notre Dame and Kansas. Alister Vallejo is a four-star recruit, according to 247Sports. He is the #203 player in the 2026 class, the #32 DL and the #31 player in the state of Texas. Vallejo currently attends Liberty Hill High School in Liberty Hill, TX. Kansas is closest to home, but Michigan and Notre Dame have better football programs. Advertisement 'Verifiably big with requisite frame to survive and potentially thrive in the trenches at the high-major level,' Vallejo's scouting report reads.
