Morton, Minnesota, woman seriously injured in UTV crash

Mar. 19---- The driver of a side-by-side utility vehicle suffered serious injuries Tuesday after it overturned on a rural road northwest of Morton.
According to a news release from the
initial investigation showed that Edna Wertish, 75, of Morton, was traveling eastbound on 720th Avenue in a Polaris Ranger when she apparently lost control and entered the ditch, causing the UTV to overturn.
According to the Sheriff's Office, she was the sole occupant, and emergency responders found her conscious and receiving care from bystanders. Wertish was extricated from the vehicle and transported by ambulance to the CentraCare — Redwood Hospital in Redwood Falls before being transferred to a trauma center for treatment of serious injuries.
The accident was reported at 5:02 p.m. Tuesday in the 32000 block of 720th Avenue in Henryville Township.
The Renville County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Morton Fire Department and Medical Response Unit and CentraCare Ambulance — Redwood Falls.

May 24---- An 89-year-old man received life-threatening injuries in a single-vehicle crash on Highway 29 north of Benson at 8:57 a.m. Saturday. The man was transported to CentraCare — St. Cloud Hospital for treatment. According to a from the a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling southbound on Highway 29 when the vehicle went off the road into the lefthand ditch, where it struck an embankment and vaulted. The driver, Keith William Hein, of Montevideo, received life-threatening injuries from the incident. The airbags did deploy, and Hein was wearing a seat belt at the time of the incident, according to the Minnesota State Patrol report. According to the report, responding agencies included Swift County Sheriff's Office, Benson Police Department, Lifelink, Benson Fire Department and CentraCare Ambulance.

When first responders arrived at the scene, they found that a Polaris Ranger utility vehicle and a Ford SUV had collided.
