It's not just the family car getting recalls. Two Huffy toy ride-on vehicles have been recalled for potential burn hazards, the Consumer Product Safety Commission announced April 24.
About 23,500 ride-on versions of the familiar yellow Tonka dump truck were recalled because the controller can overheat, posing fire and burn hazards, the CPSC said.
Nearly 25,000 ride-on UTVs (utility task vehicles) sold exclusively at Walmart suffer from improper wiring, the agency said, which could cause the toy to catch fire.
The Huffy Corporation is offering a controller replacement for the truck and free repair for the UTV or a $40 reimbursement if you have the repair done by a third party. Either way, customers should stop using the vehicles immediately until the problem can be addressed.

Police investigating after stolen car crashes near Evergreen Park shopping center; 1 dead

Evergreen Park police said one person died in a crash when a stolen car plowed into another vehicle near a shopping center in Evergreen Park. As of 11:20 a.m., crews were working to reconstruct the two-car crash that was in the Walmart parking lot and on 95th Street, across from Evergreen Plaza. CBS Skywatch was over the scene, were a dark gray car with severe front-end damage was against the median and sidewalk separating the parking lot from 95th Street. A light gray car with severe side impact and back-end damage was in the corner of the parking lot. Police said officers responded to a report of a stolen car at the Speedway Gas Station on 95th Street. When they arrived, police said a woman got out of the car and went into the gas station while the man behind the wheel sped away. Police said the driver of the stolen car crashed into another car at 95th and Campbell. The car was going fast enough that it appeared to have sent the other car spinning into the Walmart parking lot, damaging or knocking over several trees in the process. The driver of the stolen car was taken to Christ Medial Center where he was pronounced dead, police said. The driver of the other car was taken to Little Company of Mary Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said. The woman who was with the man driving the stolen car was taken into custody at the gas station.

Walmart Expands Into Fuel—And It's More Than Just Gas

Walmart is rolling into the fuel business in a big way, and the move could reshape its rivalry with Costco. With plans to open more than 45 new gas stations across the U.S. this year, Walmart is flexing its muscles in a space traditionally dominated by warehouse clubs like Costco and Sam's Club. 'As EVs remain a long-term play, gas is still king,' said Joe Camberato, CEO of 'The switch to electric vehicles isn't happening overnight, and retailers know there's money to be made from traditional fuel for years to come.' Walmart's new gas stations, set to operate at stores without Murphy USA pumps, will boost its total fuel footprint to over 450 locations across 34 states, Quartz reported. The company is offering low prices at the pump and up to 10 cents per gallon off for Walmart+ members. It's a classic one-stop-shop strategy aimed at bolstering customer loyalty and driving foot traffic. 'Walmart's fuel expansion signals an effort to rival Costco's highly successful gas business, which made up around 12% of its total sales in 2024,' said Usha Haley, an international business expert at Wichita State University. The key difference? Walmart's stations are open to everyone, unlike Costco's members-only model. But Costco isn't standing still. Earlier this year, CEO Rob Vachris announced the company would extend hours at its members-only fuel centers, keeping most locations open until 10 p.m. It's a move designed to deepen loyalty and capture more sales as EV adoption remains watchers say the battle isn't just about gas. With inflation, tariffs, and supply chain disruptions hitting margins, retailers like Walmart and Costco are leaning into fuel as a reliable revenue stream. And with Walmart openly acknowledging that tariffs on Chinese goods could impact prices, low-priced gas is one way to keep customers coming back. 'The rise of EVs will eventually change the game,' said Manish Choudhary of SymphonyAI. 'But for now, these retailers are competing for a bigger slice of the fuel pie, and Walmart's latest move is a clear signal of intent.' If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission. As much as vehicles today have improved when it comes to safety, it goes without saying that the potential for collisions still remains. Since accidents can happen to even the most attentive of drivers, we recommend that everyone install a dash cam in their vehicle. Fortunately, one of Walmart's best sellers, the Nexpow T7J6 HD Dual Dash Cam, is currently marked down to $36 from its usual $80 list price. A dash cam (dashboard-mounted camera) is designed to capture footage through your windshield in the event of an incident. Drivers and insurance companies alike promote dash cams as a way to expedite claims when another vehicle is involved but no witness was present. In other words, it's your word against theirs, and a dash cam ensures the truth is documented on camera. This one from Nexpow stands out because it features two cameras — front and rear — a rarity at this price point. While the front camera records in 1080p full HD with a wide-angle lens and an f/1.5 aperture, the rear camera captures video at 720p with an f/1.5-aperture lens. Both are equipped with an onboard G-sensor, which tells the camera to start recording automatically when a collision is detected. It also works as a 24-hour parking deal is being offered exclusively online for a limited time. So, head to Walmart to grab the Nexprow T7J6 HD Dual Dash Cam while it's only $36!
