Fat Brain Toys recalls rollers tile toys due to magnet ingestion hazard
Fat Brain Toys has issued a recall for its PlayTab Rollers Tile toys, citing a serious magnet ingestion hazard that could lead to severe injury or even death. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the recall on May 15, 2025, after determining that the toys violate federal safety regulations for toy magnets.
The recall affects approximately 5,100 units sold in the United States and about 380 units sold in Canada. The PlayTab Rollers Tile toys were sold individually or as part of the PlayTab Sensory Set 3 between July 2024 and November 2024. These toys feature blue, red, and green rubberized rollers designed for children to touch and spin.
The hazard arises from the potential for the magnets within the rollers to become loose. If a child swallows more than one magnet, the magnets can attract each other or other metal objects inside the digestive system, leading to serious injuries such as perforations, twisting, or blockage of the intestines, infection, blood poisoning, and even death.

As of the recall date, no injuries have been reported. However, due to the severity of the potential hazard, parents and caregivers are urged to take immediate action.

Johnson Health Tech Trading, which acquired Boxflex's assets after the company filed for bankruptcy in March 2024, has received 12 reports of the dumbbells' plates dislodging during use, according to a recall notice from the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). Nautilus, which was Bowflex's previous owner, received 337 reports of plates dislodging during use, including 111 that led to injuries like concussions, abrasions, broken toes, or bruises, according to the notice. Before these reports, our thorough testing had found the SelectTech 552s to be the best value adjustable dumbbells, but we have since updated our buying guide. If you own these popular adjustable dumbbells, it's fair to have questions. Here's what you need to know. The Bowflex 552 and 1090 adjustable dumbbells are being recalled. The dumbbells were sold in pairs and single units in the black colorway and have handles, weight plates, and a molded plastic tray. The 552 dumbbells adjust from 5 to 52.5 pounds, while the 1090 dumbbells adjust from 10 to 90 pounds. Both dumbbells use manual adjustment knobs to change the weights. The model and serial number of the recalled dumbbells are printed on a sticker on on the bottom of the molded plastic tray. You also might have picked them up online at and from 2004 through May 2025. They had cost between $200 and $800. If you have the recalled dumbbells, CPSC recommends that you stop using them and contact Johnson Health Tech Trading. If you purchased your dumbbells after Johnson Health Tech Trading acquired the company (i.e. after March 2024), you can receive a refund of the purchase price in the form of a voucher, or a replacement for your dumbbells. If you bought your dumbbells before that, you can request a pro-rated voucher and a one-year JRNY digital fitness membership. You'll be sent a pre-paid shipping label to return the handle and base for each returned dumbbell. "We are working diligently to reach owners of the 552 and 1090 dumbbells—regardless of whether the units were purchased from the now defunct Nautilus or from our company," Johnson Health Tech Trading told Men's Health in a statement. "We stand behind the integrity of our products and remain committed to supporting our customers throughout their fitness journey," the statement continues. 50,000 Smoke Detectors Recalled Due to Carbon Monoxide and Fire Risk—See If Yours Is Affected
The Consumer Product Safety Commission has recalled about 50,000 smoke detectors due to a malfunction that may prevent them from alerting consumers to fires and carbon monoxide leaks, posing a potentially deadly risk. The recalled smoke detectors are the Apollo America Combination Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detectors with model number "51000-600" labeled on the back. On the front of the recalled product states "Replace by" followed by a date ranging from June 2034 to October 2034. The recalled smoke detectors were manufactured and sold for $50 to $100 online, door-to-door, and through telephone sales by Vivint between June 2024 and October 2024. According to the CPSC, there have been no reported injuries or incidents, but these detectors "pose a risk of smoke inhalation, carbon monoxide poisoning or death."
