I just played Street Fighter 6 on Switch 2 — and I can't believe how good it is
Mario Kart World is a fantastic Nintendo Switch 2 game, but the game I'll be playing most on the console is Street Fighter 6. Yes, I've already spent 206 hours on the PS5 edition, but I've been having a blast playing it on Nintendo's latest console/handheld hybrid. Why? Because of the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro controller. That might come as a surprise if you're a fighting game fanatic like me. Hell, writing this is weird for me too! I still prefer using the best fight sticks, but the updated Switch 2 Pro controller isn't bad for playing fighting games. Sure, it doesn't have a six-button layout like the Hori Wireless Fighting Commander Octa Pro, but the Switch 2 Pro controller gets the job done. If you're hesitant about playing Street Fighter 6 on Switch 2, don't be. Not only does it look and perform phenomenally, but it controls like a dream, especially with a Switch 2 Pro controller. I'll explain why. The Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller is practically guaranteed to be the most in-demand Switch 2 accessory, and it packs a suitable upgrade over its predecessor adding a headphone jack, the new "C" button, and customizable back buttons. Additional retailers: Best Buy | GameStop Before moving on, let me break down what Street Fighter 6 on Switch 2 has to offer. Out of the box, you get all of the characters, stages and balance updates released for seasons 1 and 2. You'll have to pay for the inevitable season 3 (which should arrive this summer), but getting seasons 1 and 2 at no extra charge is a nice deal. Content-wise, you'll have access to everything in the game's three core modes: World Tour, Battle Hub, and Fighting Ground. There's also a pair of Switch 2-exclusive offline modes called Gyro Battle and Calorie Contest. The former has you using the Joy-Con's gyro controls to perform attacks, while the latter has you furiously shaking the Joy-Con to burn in-game calories to get a high score. While I appreciate that the Switch 2 has two exclusive modes, I likely won't indulge in them since they seem like too much work. But that's fine since there's so much other content to engage with. Content I can use the Pro controller with! The Switch 2 Pro controller isn't a huge upgrade from the original Switch 1 model, but its minor adjustments make for a better overall peripheral. The most notable update comes in the form of two programmable back buttons, but the slightly slimmer design and matte-like texture are just as nice. Nintendo also says the analog sticks are less likely to suffer from stick drift. The Pro controller doesn't have an ideal button layout for Street Fighter 6 since the controller doesn't have six face buttons. However, since the four face buttons are so large, pressing them is very easy, even when you have to press two simultaneously. The shoulder buttons are simple to reach and also feel nice to press. Overall, the buttons are extremely responsive. I usually struggle with cross-shaped D-pads like the one on the Switch 2 controller, but I had little trouble performing motion inputs for special and super moves during my playtime. The D-pad isn't that large, which allows me to easily cover it with the joint of my thumb. I sometimes misperform inputs, but I'm sure my accuracy will improve as I become more accustomed to this D-pad. The controller is relatively light but still has enough weight to prevent it from feeling cheap. The aforementioned texture feels good against my palms and helps me maintain a solid grip. It's just a well-built peripheral that's a joy to use for hours on end, even for fighting games. Street Fighter 6 1-2 Fighters Edition will features 26 characters and 20 stages. You'll fight your way to the top with all new content and game modes exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2 like Local Wireless One on One and Avatar retailers: GameStop Dedicated fight pads and fight sticks are still best for playing fighting games like Street Fighter 6. However, it might be a while before officially licensed Switch 2 fighting game controllers start arriving. You might have luck pairing a Switch 1 fight stick/pad to the new console, but compatibility isn't guaranteed. Thankfully, the Switch 2 Pro controller is excellent for playing fighting games on Nintendo's new system. I expected to love the Switch 2 Pro controller since I'm a fan of the previous model. What I didn't foresee is how well the new controller would work with Street Fighter 6. Again, I've sunk hundreds of hours into Capcom's fighter, but I'm down to spend even more time beating the snot out of opponents just to continue using the Pro controller. It really is a fantastic peripheral for fighting games on Switch 2.

Playboi Carti Nearly Hits No. 1 Following 67,000% Sales Surge

That's not uncommon for projects that shift release dates, as sometimes, even the biggest names in pop and hip-hop can change plans at the last minute and decide to drop a full-length with just a few days' notice. That typically means physical copies will arrive later. Music became available on CD more than two months after it hit streaming sites, and a vinyl edition is slated to arrive later in June. The release of the hugely successful title on CD helps push it back onto a number of rankings, and it nearly earns the rapper his first champion on one Billboard tally. Music reappears on this week's Top Album Sales chart, the ranking of the bestselling EPs and full-lengths in the United States. It breaks back onto the list and settles in the runner-up spot, which marks a new career high point for Carti on this roster. The only project preventing him from securing his first career No. 1 is I'm the Problem by Morgan Wallen. That set easily conquered the tally last time around and refuses to budge. The country project may lead the charge on the Top Album Sales chart for several more frames. While it didn't get to dominate the sales-only roster, Music did bring Carti back to the summit on the Billboard 200. Before its return, Music already stood as Carti's loftiest winner on the Top Album Sales chart. The set opened at No. 3 back in late March, coming in behind Hot by Le Sserafim and Mayhem by Lady Gaga, which dipped to the runner-up space in its second frame on the tally. When Music debuted, it beat the No. 5 high point that Whole Lotta Red reached in June 2021. Music experienced a massive sales spike thanks to its CD release. The week before it became available on a physical format, the title sold just under 100 copies. The following frame, it shipped 17,500 CDs and digital downloads (per Luminate) — a growth of more than 67,000% in just a few days.

Nintendo Switch 2 Hands-On: Bigger Screen, Faster Chip Live Up to the Hype
(Bloomberg) -- The arrival of Nintendo Co.'s Switch 2 marks the biggest consumer tech product release of 2025 so far, with legions of gamers now unboxing and trying the new $450 gaming console for the first time. Like the first edition, the Switch 2 has a versatile design, allowing it to be used as a portable handheld or placed in a dock where it will function as a living-room system. This time, it's capable of outputting 4K resolution and more impactful HDR video to your TV screen. For now, Mario Kart World and enhanced versions of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom are the best visual showcases of what the Switch 2 is capable of, along with third-party launch titles like Cyberpunk 2077. The improved graphical fidelity and higher frame rates, made possible by the Switch 2's Nvidia Corp.-made processor, are easily noticeable once you've started up a game. When it comes to performance, Nintendo's console still lags behind Sony Group Corp.'s PlayStation 5 and Microsoft Corp.'s Xbox Series X, both heavier-duty systems designed to be used exclusively in the home. But for Nintendo fans, the in-game worlds of beloved characters like Mario and Link have never looked better. Unboxing the device will be a familiar experience to owners of the original Switch, and that feeling remains true as you begin using it. The significantly larger 7.9-inch display is much easier on the eyes — a blessing for the eyesight of anyone who's grown up alongside Nintendo's gadgets — and has a sharper 1080p resolution. It's also far more fluid than the screen on the original version; this model supports a maximum refresh rate of 120Hz, which makes Mario Kart World feel all the more chaotic (in a fun way). These upgrades help offset the fact that the Switch 2 uses an LCD display instead of a punchier OLED panel. The upsized screen means you're also getting bigger Joy-Con controllers, which makes handheld mode a far more ergonomic experience. The buttons are also larger than before. Everything about the Switch 2 feels less cramped. One of the best changes Nintendo made relates to how the Joy-Cons connect to the console: They now attach magnetically instead of sliding down onto the hardware with a rail mechanism. Magnets inside the console firmly latch onto steel buttons on each Joy-Con. The hold is strong without any of the flimsy wobbling that some users complained about on the original Switch. Disconnecting the Joy-Cons is as simple as pressing the release button on the back of each one. Nintendo's thoughtful improvements continue elsewhere: The Switch 2 has a second USB-C port, which can be used for accessories (or just more flexibility in how you charge the device). There's now a screen lock feature to prevent other people from using your console — something that would have been nice to have on the original. The speakers, while not best in class, are a vast upgrade over the hollow, thin sound that came from the Switch OLED Model, released in 2021. The console's software interface is similar to the first Switch with some new splashes of color and sound effects thrown in. Nintendo's eShop store for digital game purchases is also more responsive than the sluggish experience on the original console. The buzzy launch drew long lines at retailers including Best Buy Co., GameStop Corp., Target Corp. and Walmart Inc. The era of spending hours waiting in line for the latest iPhone is long gone, but the debut of a new video game console is still a rare enough event that Nintendo fans didn't think twice about driving to retailers in the middle of the night to secure a Switch 2. It will take more testing and longer play sessions to gauge whether the Switch 2's more powerful processor has an adverse effect on battery life — or if there are any performance issues with the large library of backward-compatible Switch titles available for this new hardware. But at the outset, the device makes a strong first impression. Nintendo played it safe with the Switch 2, but that's precisely what many customers were looking for: It's a bigger, faster, more polished version of a wildly successful gadget.
