Saudi Arabia tops G20 countries in Safety Index

RIYADH — Saudi Arabia ranked first among G20 countries, according to data from the Global SDG Indicators Database and the Safety Index Publication for 2023 issued on Monday by the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT). The results showed that 92.6% of the Saudi population felt safe while walking alone at night in their residential areas.The results clarified the role of the relevant state sectors in achieving security enjoyed by Saudi Arabia's residents in all regions and governorates.This came in line with the efforts made to provide security, safety and a decent life in Saudi Arabia in many different areas, including economic, food, environmental, health, social, political, intellectual, technical and cyber security, to improve the services provided to achieve the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.Saudi Arabia is the first among the G20 in terms of the rise in the security index in the 2023 Sustainable Development Report.The Safety Index Bulletin is one of the outputs of the Family Socio-Economic Survey that was implemented during 2023.
The survey includes a number of indicators that serve the economic, social and family fields in Saudi Arabia, and is concerned with calculating the percentage of the population who feel safe while walking alone in their residential areas.

The MoU reflects shared goals to enhance resource efficiency and lower carbon emissions through a comprehensive, balanced and sustainable approach. Areas of cooperation include policy research and recommendations, partnerships with international organizations, participation in climate and CCE-related events, exchange of knowledge and best practices, and the development of climate policy frameworks, supported by regional and global climate networking activities.

Saudi Arabia imposes final anti-dumping duties on imports of steel pipes from China and Taiwan
Saudi Gazette report RIYADH — Saudi Minister of Commerce and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Authority of Foreign Trade (GAFT) Dr. Majed Al-Qasabi issued a decision to impose final anti-dumping duties on imports of longitudinally welded circular cross-section pipes of stainless steel, originating or exported from China and Taiwan. The decision to impose the final duties was published in Umm Al-Qura newspaper, the official gazette, on June 29. The final duties will be applied to imports of this product for a period of five years starting June 30, 2025. The minister also directed the Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority to impose and collect final anti-dumping duties on the product in question at rates ranging from 6.5 percent to 27.3 percent, according to the table included in this decision that contains details of the duties. The decision to impose the final anti-dumping duties comes in accordance with the Law of Trade Remedies in International Trade, which aims to protect the local industry from unfair trade practices in the Saudi market. This decision is based on the final results of an investigation that began on May 2, 2024, following a complaint filed by the local industry, in accordance with the regulations of the Law of Trade Remedies in International Trade. The objective of the law is to protect the domestic industry from the damage caused by dumped and subsidized imports, prevent a surge in imports, and protect the Kingdom's exports that are subject to trade-remedy measures.
