Noshir Gowadia
The United States deployed its B-2 Spirit bombers in Sunday's strikes on three key nuclear facilities in Iran. The aircraft, sometimes also referred to as the 'Stealth' bomber, has an Indian connection - a US citizen of Indian origin was involved in the development of the plane's propulsion system.
The engineer, Mumbai-born Noshir Gowadia, was later sentenced to over 30 years in prison for sharing classified military information with China, with which Beijing developed a cruise missile exhaust system to make Chinese cruise missiles resistant to detection.
Noshir Gowadia and the B-2 Spirit bomber
According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Gowadia, now 81, was first arrested in October 2005 on a criminal complaint which alleged that he "wilfully communicated" national defense-related information to a person "not entitled to receive it."
As per information produced during the trial, Gowadia worked with Northrop Grumman Corporation - the makers of B2 bombers - for almost 20 years, from approximately 1968 to 1986. During this time, he contributed to the development of the unique propulsion system and low observable capabilities of the B-2; the naturalized US national also continued to work on classified matters as a contractor with the with the United States government until 1997, when his security clearance was revoked.

Noshir Gowadia and visits to China
Evidence displayed at the trial showed that Gowadia visited China six times between June 2003 and July 2005 to provide defense services in the form of design, test support and test data analysis of technologies for the purpose of helping Beijing build a cruise missile system by developing a stealthy exhaust nozzle.
At the time of his arrest, Gowadia had been paid at least $110,000 by the Chinese.
The sentencing
Gowadia was found guilty in August 2010, following six days of deliberation after a trial spanning nearly four months in Honolulu. In January 2011, he was handed a jail term of 32 years.

France charges Briton over staged Disneyland 'marriage' with child

AI- Generated Image PARIS: France charged a British citizen with offences including money-laundering and identity theft after he allegedly organised a bizarre ceremony at Disneyland Paris where he played the role of the groom in a fake marriage with a nine-year-old girl, prosecutors said Tuesday. He is suspected of hiring the theme park before it opened to the public on Saturday for the staged wedding event, in a contract worth 130,000 euros. The man, who has not been named but has a criminal record in the UK for sexual assault offences, has in addition to his charges also been named as an assisted witness - a step before being indicted - in a probe into suspected corruption of a minor, prosecutors said. The incident initially caused grave alarm when staff alerted police that it could have concerned an illegal child marriage, with the purported "bride" a nine-year-old Ukrainian girl. It later turned out to have been entirely staged but authorities immediately launched an investigation. The British man played "the role of the groom after being professionally made up to display a face completely different from his own", the prosecutor for the Meaux region Jean-Baptiste Bladier told AFP. French judicial authorities were informed by their British counterparts that the man "has been convicted in the past, notably for sexual offences against minors", he added on Tuesday. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Memperdagangkan CFD Emas dengan salah satu spread terendah? 'Significant irregularities' The authorities have designated a 24-year-old Latvian who played the role of the bride's sister at the event as an assisted witness. The prosecutor said investigations showed the "marriage" was in fact "a fictitious ceremony intended to be filmed privately". The Briton is suspected of "recruiting, with the help of a Latvian citizen, other Latvian nationals to ensure the smooth running of the event, as well as around 100 French extras, who were falsely presented to Disneyland Paris as wedding guests", the prosecutor said. The Ukrainian child, who arrived in France two days before the event, suffered "no violence, either physical or sexual" and "was not forced to play the role" of bride, the prosecutor had said at the weekend. According to the prosecutor, Disneyland Paris was deceived, with "the organiser impersonating a Latvian national and using false documents to secure the contract to hire the park". The event was scheduled to take place between 5:00 am and 7:00 am local time, outside public opening hours, on the privatised premises "at a total cost of 130,000 euros", according to a police source who asked not to be named. But Disneyland Paris emphasised in a statement sent to AFP on Sunday that the event had been "immediately cancelled" by its teams "after the identification of significant irregularities."

'Cobra Kai' star Martin Kove accused of BITING and attempting to kiss co-star Alicia Hannah-Kim; Here's why he wasn't arrested

C obra Kai actor Martin Kove, best known for his role as the villain John Kreese, was accused of biting and attempting to kiss his co-star Alicia Hannah-Kim during a fan convention. The incident occurred during a meet-and-greet session at the pop culture convention in Puyallup. According to a police report obtained by Deadline, Hannah-Kim alleged that Kove unexpectedly grabbed her arm and bit it 'almost drawing blood' as she walked past his table. When she cried out in pain, he reportedly kissed her arm and attempted to grab it again. In a written statement to police, the actress described the bite as unprovoked and forceful, noting that the mark left behind was already 'turning blue and bruising.' Photos of the injury were taken and attached to the official police record. Her husband, actor Sebastian Roche, who witnessed the incident, confronted Kove soon after. In her statement, she recalled that Kove was 'furious and outraged' when she calmly told him his behaviour was unacceptable. Kove allegedly dismissed the act as playful, saying he thought it was funny and that they 'play fight all the time on set.' The Puyallup Police Department Officer Eric Barry, investigating the matter on-site wrote in his report, "Martin Kove admitted to biting Alicia's arm and said he did it out of jest." by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Brass Krishna Idols For Prosperity & Protection In Life Luxeartisanship Shop Now Undo The actor, however, was not arrested as Hannah-Kim ultimately chose not to press charges. She did request that a formal informational report be filed and asked for photographic documentation of the bite. Kove and Hannah-Kim were part of a group of Cobra Kai cast members in attendance at the high-profile event, including Mary Mouser, Tanner Buchanan, Rayna Vallandingham, and Patrick Luwis. Summer Con 2025 also hosted stars from Daredevil: Born Again, original Star Trek icons like William Shatner and Walter Koenig, and wrestling legend Chris Jericho. Kove rose to fame as the villainous Kreese in the original Karate Kid trilogy and reprised the role across all six seasons of Netflix's Cobra Kai. Hannah-Kim joined the franchise in Season 5 as Kim Da-Eun, a fierce South Korean sensei.

Operation Midnight Hammer: How US Bombed Iranian Nuclear Sites Without Detection

It was an unprecedented attack years in the making, with some last-minute misdirection meant to give the operation a powerful element of surprise. US pilots dropped 30,000-pound bombs early Sunday on two key underground uranium enrichment plants in Iran, delivering what American military leaders believe is a knockout blow to a nuclear program that Israel views as an existential threat and has been pummeling for more than a week. American sailors bolstered the surprise mission by firing dozens of cruise missiles from a submarine toward at least one other site. Dubbed Operation Midnight Hammer, US officials say the plan was characteriSed by a "precision strike" that "devastated the Iranian nuclear program," even as they acknowledged an assessment was ongoing. For its part, Iran denied that any significant damage had been done, and the Islamic Republic pledged to retaliate. Taking off from the US heartland, B-2 stealth bombers delivered a total of 420,000 pounds of explosives, aided by an armada of refueling tankers and fighter jets - some of which launched their own weapons. US officials said Iran neither detected the inbound fusillade, nor mustered a shot at the stealthy American jets. The operation relied on a series of deceptive tactics and decoys to maintain the secrecy, US officials said hours after the attack, which was preceded by nine days of Israeli attacks that debilitated Iran's military leadership and air defenses. A decoy plan Even before the planes took off, elements of misdirection were already in play. After setting parts of the plan in motion, Trump publicly announced Thursday that he'd make a decision within two weeks on whether to strike Iran - ostensibly to allow additional time for negotiations, but in actuality masking the impending attack. One group of B-2 stealth bombers travelled west from Missouri on Saturday as decoys, drawing the attention of amateur plane spotters, government officials and some media as they headed toward a US air base in the Pacific. At the same time, seven other B-2s carrying two "bunker buster" bombs apiece flew eastward, keeping communications to a minimum so as not to draw any attention. Air Force Gen. Dan Caine, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said at Sunday's briefing that it was all "part of a plan to maintain tactical surprise" and that only "an extremely small number of planners and key leaders" knew about it in Washington and Florida, where U.S. Central Command is based. After 18 hours of furtive flying that required aerial refuelling, the armed B-2 Spirit bombers, each with two crew members, arrived on time and without detection in the Eastern Mediterranean, from where they launched their attack runs. Before crossing into Iran, the B-2s were escorted by stealthy US fighter jets and reconnaissance aircraft. A graphic released by the Pentagon showed the flight route as passing over Lebanon, Syria and Iraq. It was unclear whether those countries were notified of the US overflight in advance. Most US lawmakers were also kept in the dark, with some Republicans saying they were provided a brief heads-up by the White House before the strike. "Our B-2s went in and out and back without the world knowing at all," Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth told reporters Sunday. A multifaceted attack About an hour before the B-2s entered Iran, Caine said that a US submarine in the region launched more than two dozen Tomahawk cruise missiles against key targets, including a site in Isfahan where uranium is prepared for enrichment. As the US bombers approached their targets, they watched out for Iranian fighter jets and surface-to-air missiles, but encountered none. At 6:40 pm in Washington and 2:10 am in Tehran, the first B-2 bomber dropped its pair of GBU-57 massive ordnance penetrators on the deeply buried Fordo uranium enrichment plant. It was the first time these so-called "bunker busters" had ever been used in combat. Each 30,000-pound bomb is designed to burrow into the ground before detonating a massive warhead. The Fordo site received the bulk of the bombardment, though a couple of the enormous bombs were also dropped on a uranium enrichment site at Natanz. The US bombs fell for about half an hour, with cruise missiles fired from submarines being the last American weapons to hit their targets, which included a third nuclear site at Isfahan, Caine said. Both Iran and the UN nuclear watchdog said there were no immediate signs of radioactive contamination around the sites. A look at the numbers The mission included: - 75 precision-guided weapons: these included 14 GBU-57 "bunker buster" bombs deployed by the seven B-2 Spirit stealth bombers, and more than two-dozen Tomahawk cruise missiles launched from a U.S. submarine. - 125 aircraft, including the B-2 bombers, fighter jets and refueling planes. A female pilot Hegseth said Sunday that "our boys in those bombers are on their way home right now." But a U.S. official said one woman was among those piloting the B-2 bombers. The official spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak about the mission publicly. A bit of history Caine said the use of the bunker-buster bombs made the mission historic, as did other elements. "This was the largest B-2 operational strike in US history, and the second longest B-2 mission ever flown, exceeded only by those in the days following 9/11," he told reporters Sunday.
