Very hot weekend ahead, possibly hitting 100 degrees
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — It's going to be another hot one today in the Grand Valley. Temperatures continue to approach 100 degrees, and it gets closer every day. Some breezes will kick around the region today wind wind speeds settling around 10 to 15 miles per hour. Tonight, expect mostly clear conditions with overnight lows in the low sixties. The first 100 degree day is projected to hit Grand Junction on Sunday.High pressure builds in bringing hot, dry, and windy conditions to the area for the weekend. Warnings have been elevated to critical fire weather conditions for the weekend. Temperatures remain five to 15 degrees above normal through the seven-day forecast.According to the National Weather Service, dry air will continue to move in today as high pressure sets up to our south. Broad southwesterly flow will keep warm temperatures in the picture with expected highs reaching 10 to 15 degrees above climatological norms. Some afternoon breezes of 20 to 25 mph will be common, especially up north. More of the same can be expected tomorrow, though more widespread gusty winds — along with low humidities — will cause localized critical fire weather conditions. This may be a recipe for Red Flag Warnings as well, but coverage will not be great enough to issue any products but this trend will continue as we head into the long term period as of right now.The main concerns over the weekend will of course be the heat. This, combined with gusty outflow winds, can really cause dry areas to act as significant fuel for fires especially north of I-70. Like previously mentioned, Sunday and Monday have a possible look at 100 degrees, which would be the first time this year the Valley has seen these conditions.Overall, expect an incredibly hot day ahead for the western slope.

The statement continued, "The number one thing we need from the Bonnaroo community is patience. Some of your fellow campers' sites are in rough shape. The rain has settled in areas and made certain parts of Outeroo difficult to manage." "We'd like to prioritize getting those folks as well as those with accessibility needs off The Farm as soon as possible this evening," read the statement. "To do this, we ask that if your campsite is in good shape or if you're in an RV or pre-pitched accommodation, please consider spending the night with us and we'll start working to get you out of here safely tomorrow." The festival organizers concluded, "We will continue to operate as usual in Outeroo including food vendors and all health and safety infrastructure. We have put our hearts and souls into making this weekend the most special one of the year, and cannot express how crushed we are to have to make this decision.
