The demonstration plant, constructed at CMSG's mine in northern Chile, began construction in February 2025 and delivered its first copper cathodes just three months later. The plant has operated continuously since commissioning, showcasing the speed, reliability, and scalability of Ceibo's leaching process. This process integrates seamlessly with existing infrastructure, enabling faster and more efficient copper recovery than conventional methods, while unlocking resources once considered too challenging or uneconomical to process.

Ceibo's advanced leaching technology leverages cutting-edge chemistry, data analytics, and AI-driven modeling to enhance copper recovery from primary sulfide ores such as chalcopyrite. By enabling copper extraction from ores previously considered too difficult to process on-site, Ceibo's solution addresses the industry's shift from oxide to sulfide ores and supports a more efficient, lower carbon production process.
If scaling is successful, CoTec believes that Ceibo's technology will deliver significant economic and environmental benefits, including faster project timelines, lower operating costs, and reduced environmental footprints. Megan Ellis / Android Authority For a long time I wondered if I was simply immune to the productivity benefits of to-do list apps since they didn't actually help me complete my goals in the long-term. It seemed like if I wasn't able to complete a task right away, it would disappear into the ether, never to be seen again or ultimately completed. Then a colleague suggested TickTick to me in 2018. The app impressed me so much that I use it to this day even though more recent productivity apps have launched on the market — it has become one of the free apps I can't live without. NaN % TickTick continues to be the best to-do list app for me Megan Ellis / Android Authority A common problem I encounter when using productivity apps is that they try to do too much at once and it actually takes some time to set them up and get acquainted with their features. Considering I have ADHD, an app that can help me keep organized makes my life easier. But at the same time, I get overwhelmed when there's too much information to take in and too much to learn in a short period of time. It also means that when a task is not front-and-center, I will often forget about it. You can't count on me to open an app daily to check my reminders if it's not already in my daily routine. That's where TickTick excels — it's simple and intuitive and doesn't force you to get to grips with all of its features at once. You simply install the app and start adding tasks right away. These tasks can be as simple or as complicated as you want them to be. You can also assign them to specific lists if you want to organize your tasks further. For example, I have lists for Shopping, Work, and Personal items. Other features include a calendar view (though some calendar views are locked behind a paywall), a habit tracker, an Eisenhower Matrix tab, and a newly launched countdown feature. But I mostly use it for the reminder features, in conjunction with other free apps that keep me organized. When I set reminders, they also live in my notification bar, even if I dismiss the initial popup. This takes care of the problem of needing a task to remain front-and-center. Whenever I check my phone, the list of daily tasks is there waiting for me. The feature that keeps me coming back Megan Ellis / Android Authority Besides its simple yet powerful interface, there's another feature that keeps me coming back to TickTick — the ability to snooze my notifications. This is the first thing that set apart the app for me and it ensured that even if I couldn't get to a task right away, I would be reminded of it later. You could argue that this just feeds into my habit of procrastinating, but more often than not, it gives me the time to prepare for the task and get started. For example, I may get a reminder to email someone when I'm not currently at my desk — so I can snooze it for 15 minutes while I finish my coffee and turn my PC on. If I realize I won't be getting to my task that day, I can snooze it to ping me the next day instead. This is perfect on days where something interrupts my schedule or I end up with an unexpected migraine and can't complete my tasks for the day. This mostly has to do with my own personal preferences and keeping my software subscriptions to a minimum. There was a time I was subscribed to the app's premium plan, but I ended up canceling my subscription because I wasn't using the premium features enough to justify the cost. I think that TickTick's premium version is one of the better options out. That said, I do think that TickTick's premium version is one of the better options out there if you're looking for a to-do list app that can integrate with other software and sync multiple calendars. The annual plan costs $35.99, making it more affordable than many of its alternatives. With the premium version, you get access to more calendar views, the filter feature, more lists, more active tasks, the Constant Reminder feature, and more attachments per day. Since I value TickTick's simplicity, its free plan does more than enough for me. I am also able to sync my smartphone's local calendars without needing the premium plan. But if you like TickTick and you just want to extend its functionality, then I'd recommend trying out its premium version. Are there any TickTick alternatives out there? Each to-do list app has its strength and weaknesses, but I find that TickTick is the most feature-rich while also addressing the specific pain points I have with reminder apps. Then again, you could always get ChatGPT to send you reminders.

IEEE Puerto Rico MOVE Shows Technical Volunteers Can Benefit Humanity
In May I had an opportunity to visit Puerto Rico for an IEEE Governance Committee meeting and while I was there, I visited the IEEE volunteers who are behind the IEEE Puerto Rico MOVE. MOVE is an IEEE activity to provide technology and communication support to the Red Cross and other groups involved in disaster response activities around the world. IEEE reached out to Jen Castillo, then Puerto Rico IEEE Section chair, about how it could help Puerto Rico after the damage from Hurricane Maria in 2017. IEEE in general, the IEEE Foundation, the Humanitarian Activity Committee and various IEEE friends helped local volunteers in Puerto Rico by raising money and sending over 500 solar lamps to be distributed through impacted areas on the island. This experience led to discussions with IEEE USA and Mary Ellen & Garyson Randal, who founded IEEE's MOVE program with support from IEEE-USA in 2016, about doing something with MOVE in Puerto Rico. MOVE partnered with the American Red Cross to provide outfitted trucks for communications and other technical support to disaster areas. The American Red Cross had an existing Chapter in Puerto Rico and as a consequence, five years ago a number of local IEEE volunteers became ARC volunteers and MOVE PR began. Due to the support needed and the local conditions in Puerto Rico after major hurricanes, the volunteers decide to develop a more compact approach than the MOVE trucks used in the continental USA. The plan was to create modular kits that have similar capabilities to the trucks but in a smaller and portable configuration, which allow deploying with them anywhere in the island. The picture below shows some of these MOVE modules in the group's storage area in San Juan. The protective boxes are labeled with numbers, so volunteers can quickly grab all the boxes with the same numbers as a kit to take with them to support the ARC at the disaster sites. MOVE PR modular kits Tom Coughlin With the support of MOVE USA, the MOVE PR volunteers were able to create three kits with capabilities for providing power by using inverter battery banks that use solar panels to generate electricity, and equipment that allows people without access to power to charge small devices, such as mobile phones. To tackle the communication problems that comes after events like hurricanes, the MOVE USA Radio team Helped MOVE PR volunteers to become licensed ham radio operators and provided radio equipment for each of the modular kits including a portable antenna designed by MOVE USA volunteers. The three modular kits enable the creation of a reliable communication network that could cover the whole island when they are deployed at key locations around Puerto Rico. Another difference for MOVE PR from MOVE USA is that since the island is not very big, volunteers could switch off at a disaster site every few days, rather than the week-long or greater deployments for many disasters in the continental USA. During these past 5 years MOVE Puerto Rico has supported ARC in various Disaster Response Operations around the island by supporting the Disaster Technical Services team with everything related to technology support during those operations: equipment management, networking support and power generation using these kits. In addition, when not involved in disasters MOVE volunteers provide technical support to the local ARC. Another key part of MOVE is to spread the message of the importance of STEM education through outreach events that promote technical careers and their impact on society. Along with that message, MOVE shows how IEEE supports student development within these STEM related careers and how it can become their professional home. MOVE Puerto Rico chair, Francisco Carrero, said that, 'Living in Puerto Rico and having experienced various hurricanes and how climate change is affecting our island, I found purpose on volunteering in the MOVE Program and it has been a fantastic way to use my technical knowledge and skills learned from my engineering profession to help my community. I definitively agree with IEEE mission: 'To foster technological innovation and excellence for the benefit of humanity.' I can say that the MOVE Program from IEEE gave me the satisfaction of paying forward to the world the blessings that I have received and the sense of gratification of making a difference in my community.'
