A local police department is warning the community about a noticeable increase in a specific crime.

The Sugarcreek Township Police Department said they have noticed an uptick in car thefts and items being stolen from cars, according to a social media post from the department.

The department recommends that all residents lock their cars, take the keys inside, and keep valuable items out of sight.

Local sheriff's office to receive thousands in state funding
The Miami County Sheriff's Office will receive hundreds of thousands of dollars in state funding over the next two years. The sheriff's office will receive approximately $87,656.28 for these updates. The second grant will fund behavioral services in the jail for the next two years, according to Duchak. The Ohio Attorney General's Office will award the sheriff's office approximately $214,500 each year. This funding will pay the salaries of behavioral professionals and supplies. The Miami County Sheriff's Office is partnering with the Tri-County Board of Recovery and Mental Health Services to contract behavioral health professionals. Duchak said his office plans to onboard substance abuse disorder counselors and an addiction services coordinator, as the past several years have seen a 'dramatic' uptick in mental health and substance abuse disorders among the inmates. Former Bengals cornerback Adam 'Pacman' Jones arrested for disorderly conduct outside Cincinnati
Former NFL cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones was arrested near Cincinnati on Friday night, per multiple reports. Jones, who was best known for his time with the Cincinnati Bengals, was charged with public intoxication, disorderly conduct and assault of an officer. Jones was booked in Kenton County Jail, just outside of Cincinnati, just before 2 a.m. He was released Saturday on $100,000 bond, and has a court appearance scheduled for Monday. Jones was drafted by the Tennessee Titans in 2005 as the sixth overall pick out of West Virginia, and later went on to play eight seasons with the Bengals. But his NFL career was often marred by legal issues: Jones had a series of off-field incidents, including involvement in a shooting in Las Vegas, in his first two years in the league. As a result, Jones was eventually suspended by the league for the 2007 season, essentially marking the beginning of the league's personal conduct policy. Jones officially retired from the NFL in 2019, but his legal troubles continued. Just before his retirement, Jones was arrested for public intoxication and disorderly conduct in a casino in Indianapolis. In 2021, he was charged with assault in Hamilton County, OH after punching and kicking someone in the head until they were unconscious. Advertisement Jones was also arrested in 2023 after an incident on a plane, and was charged with misdemeanor alcohol intoxication, disorderly conduct and terroristic threatening. However, the former cornerback denied those charges, saying at the time that he was just requesting a different seat so he could charge his iPad. He was also arrested last November after the Mike Tyson-Jake Paul boxing match in Arlington, Texas, and charged with public intoxication, assault on a peace officer, evading arrest and resisting arrest.

8-year-old shot in South Fulton
The South Fulton Police Department said one person was arrested after a 8-year-old was shot Friday night. Officers responded to the 4300 block of Cascade Road and found an 8-year-old child with a gunshot wound to the leg. The police said initial findings indicate the shooting came after a large fight with several people.
