Ongole: Prakasam district joint collector Ronanki Gopala Krishna emphasised that yoga leads to mental development and a healthy lifestyle. He attended the special yoga programme held as part of the Yogandhra- 2025 campaign at Kothapatanam Beach on Sunday.
Speaking at the event, he highlighted the state government's proactive steps toward achieving Healthy Andhra Pradesh and ensuring health security for all citizens.
He said that recognising the significance of yoga as India's heritage treasure, the United Nations declared June 21 as International Yoga Day in 2014, and the country has since celebrated ten International Yoga Days. He said that as Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in a yoga programme in Visakhapatnam, Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has called for the participation of two crore people across the state.
In Prakasam district, the JC announced that yoga events have already been held at tourist destinations like Mallavaram and Tripurantakam. He announced that the programme at Kothapatanam Beach witnessed participation from approximately 2,000 people. He informed that upcoming events include a special Yogandhra programme at Pakala Beach in Singarayakonda mandal on next Sunday, June 15th, and another programme on the 20th featuring around 10,000 self-help group members.
Gopala Krishna said that the district aims to involve at least ten lakh people in yoga practice programmes, with extensive yoga training sessions being conducted by special trainers within the jurisdiction of village and ward secretariats. He emphasised that incorporating 45 minutes of daily yoga practice into one's routine can lead to a lifetime of health and happiness, improving overall health indicators.
Cultural programmes organised during the event provided excellent entertainment to the participants.

The Collector said that more than 5,000 yoga master trainers were deployed across the district to ensure seven yoga sessions per village secretariat. He highlighted yoga's role in combating stress and managing ailments like hypertension, diabetes, and other disorders. SP Manikantha Chandolu said that practicing yoga daily can boost one's immunity and overall health, while adding that even 30 minutes of yoga could do miracles.

Rajamahendravaram: As part of the month-long Yogandhra-2025 campaign, a special yoga session was conducted for senior citizens on Sunday marking the 14th day of the state-wide initiative. The event noted the importance of yoga in promoting physical health, mental well-being, and spiritual growth among the elderly. Speaking on the occasion, District Revenue Officer (DRO) T Sitarama Murthy said that yoga is a powerful tool that helps reduce anxiety, relieve stress, and bring mental calm, especially in old age. He pointed out that the daily practice of yoga could prevent many age-related ailments and even help address some health issues that do not respond to conventional medication. Yoga Guru Shiva explained key techniques of yogic practices to the senior participants, including Brahma Sadhana, Dhyana Dharana (concentration techniques), mantra chanting, and meditation. Women from the Brahma Kumaris organisation also shared their spiritual perspectives on yoga and how it can aid inner peace and self-realisation. Several officials and experts participated in the event, including Superintending Engineer of the Electricity Department T Tilak Kumar, District Agriculture Officer S Madhava Rao, AYUSH doctors Dr K CH Ramesh, and AYUSH Nodal Officer P Kezia. The event witnessed active involvement from elderly citizens who appreciated the initiative for their well-being.
