Ryan Coogler has no 'intention' of making Sinners sequel
Washington DC [US], June 2 (ANI): After the blockbuster success of 'Sinners', the fans of this horror-drama have been earnestly hoping for its sequel as per the current trend in the film industry.
The director of the movie, Ryan Coogler, has now expressed his intentions of not making a sequel to the movie, reported Variety.
In a recent interview with Ebony Magazine, as quoted by Variety, Coogler, who has helmed mega-franchise blockbusters like 'Black Panther' and 'Creed,' said he "never" thought about making a follow-up to his enormously successful vampire thriller, 'Sinners'.
The director shared the inspiration behind his movie while highlighting that his "intention" was always to make a "holistic and finished" thing.
"I've been in a space of making franchise films for a bit, so I wanted to get away from that. I was looking forward to working on a film that felt original and personal to me and had an appetite for delivering something to audiences that was original and unique," said Coogler as quoted by Variety.
He continued, "I wanted the movie to feel like a full meal: your appetisers, starters, entrees and desserts, I wanted all of it there. I wanted it to be a holistic and finished thing. That was how I was asked all about it. That was always my intention," as quoted by Variety.
In a recent sit-down with Variety, Coogler elaborated on how "Sinners" perfectly aligns with his favourite type of movies.
While talking about 'Sinners', the director said, "This film is very much me. I love anything supernatural. I'm in. I like stories about communities, about neighbourhoods, about archetypes. And I love period anything. So, when you layer those things together, that does it for me," as quoted by Variety.
According to the outlet, 'Sinners' recently crossed 350 million USD at the global box office, which places the movie in the top 10 highest-grossing movies of the year.
The film follows brothers Smoke and Stack, both played by frequent Coogler collaborator Michael B. Jordan.
As the enterprising twins return to their home in Mississippi to open a music hall, they find their new business under siege by a horde of vampires.

Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], June 3 (ANI): A valiant effort from Royal Challengers Bengaluru set a fighting 191-run target for Punjab Kings in the title clash of the 18th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in Ahmedabad on Tuesday. Counter-attacking knocks from Jitesh Sharma (24 from 10 deliveries) and Virat Kohli (43 from 35 balls) powered RCB to 190/9. Still, Arshdeep Singh (3/40) and Kyle Jamieson's (3/48) searing three-wicket hauls denied Bengaluru a 200-run mark. After being put to bat by Punjab, Arshdeep deployed short-length approach ploy and Phil Salt embraced the opportunity with both hands in the opening over. He hammered the ball over the long leg and sent the ball sailing over the boundary rope for a maximum. On the fifth delivery, Salt swivelled the ball across the line, and the ball marginally fell short of the rope and bounced away for a four. With Salt coming in and all guns blazing, Bengaluru ended with 13 runs in the opening over. With runs flowing swiftly, Salt (16) took the aerial route in the next over against Kyle Jamieson but couldn't get the desired distance. Punjab Kings' batter Priyansh Arya scripts massive milestone in IPL 2025 final
Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], June 3 (ANI): Punjab Kings' young sensation Priyansh Arya shattered Devdutt Padikkal's record for the most runs by an uncapped Indian batter in a debut Indian Premier League (IPL) season. Priyansh came out to open for Punjab in the final of the 18th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the world's largest cricket stadium, the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. In pursuit of Bengaluru's daunting 191-run target, Priyansh provided a quick-fire start and struck 24 from 19 deliveries, laced with four boundaries. He finished the season with a tally of 475 runs from 17 appearances at 27.94. The 24-year-old surpassed Padikkal's tally of 473 for most runs by an uncapped Indian batter in the debut IPL season. It took a stunner from Phil Salt at the edge of the boundary rope off Josh Hazlewood on the final delivery of the fifth over. He tried to flick the ball away for a maximum, but his attempt was intercepted by the English top-order batter. Salt released the ball in the air before crossing the boundary rope and then returned to the field to complete the catch. Even though Priyansh provided the required tempo, Punjab failed to gun down Bengaluru's competitive total. Throughout the chase, Punjab kept itself in the affair but kept losing wickets at regular intervals, which hurt their chances of lifting their maiden title. At the end, PBKS fell six runs short, which ensured that the wait for the title continued for Punjab, who reached their first final in 11 years under the exceptional leadership of Shreyas Iyer and head coach Ricky Ponting. While it was agony for Punjab, skipper Rajat Patidar steered RCB to its first trophy in 18 years. With the end of adding the coveted IPL title to RCB's trophy cabinet, the special moment was met by tears in Virat Kohli's eyes. (ANI)
