
$12bn investment deals at Gateway Gulf Bahrain
A total of 32 landmark announcements and deals over $12 billion were announced at the second edition of Gateway Gulf 2024, which ran on November 3 and 4 in Bahrain.
Organised by Bahrain Economic Development Board (Bahrain EDB), the forum was attended by 250 ministers and business leaders from around the world and highlighted significant trade and investment opportunities in Bahrain and the wider Gulf, as the region's economies increasingly drive growth in non-oil sectors.
In finance, Al Salam Bank (ASB) announced the launch of ASB Capital, a newly established Category 3A asset management firm licensed by the Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA). Investcorp announced key investment related initiatives, and SICO Bank introduced diversified investment products. J P Morgan Payments announced plans to hire technologists in Bahrain. Additionally, Singapore Gulf Bank announced the launch of corporate banking services for the global digital economy.
Highlighting Bahrain's digital transformation momentum, Array Innovation signed three new partnerships with the National Bank of Bahrain (NBB), Aluminium Bahrain (Alba), and the Labour Fund (Tamkeen) to promote advanced enterprise software, analytics, artificial intelligence, and machine learning solutions. Beyon unveiled its visionary digital city and signed a development agreement with Edamah.
In manufacturing, Alba and Daiki Aluminium reaffirmed their commitment to establishing a sustainable aluminium dross processing facility in Bahrain. Racing Force Group and Bahrain International Circuit announced the completion of the Bell Racing Helmets factory extension and ground-breaking for its new open manufacturing production (OMP) facility. Meanwhile, Bapco Energies also announced reaching a decisive milestone of expanding its refining capacity in compliance with the latest sustainability regulations under Bapco Modernisation Program (BMP).
Key projects were announced by Edamah, the real estate arm of Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company, including the opening of its latest resort Hawar by Mantis. Infracorp, a leading company specialised in infrastructure investment and sustainable development, revealed an agreement with Kempinski to launch Harbour Heights Kempinski Hotel and exclusive branded residences in the heart of Manama's exclusive Bahrain Harbour.
Government announcements included details from Bahrain's Ministry of Industry & Commerce about a National Industrial Development Fund and SMEs Development Fund. The Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning outlined plans for the development of 3,000 residential units and apartments in Khalifa City, while Mumtalakat, Bahrain's sovereign wealth fund, signed several partnership agreements across key verticals of their portfolio. – TradeArabia News Service

1,000 students join Injaz Bahrain's Young Entrepreneurs Competition
More than 1,000 students from local high schools and universities showcased their skills and talent at the 17th annual Young Entrepreneurs Competition hosted by Injaz Bahrain. The event, held at Crowne Plaza Bahrain under the patronage of Sheikha Hessa bint Khalifa Al Khalifa, Chairperson of Injaz Bahrain, marked a significant milestone in fostering entrepreneurial spirit and innovation among Bahraini youth. This year's competition carries added significance as Injaz Bahrain celebrates its 20th anniversary — marking two decades of empowering young minds and nurturing the kingdom's future business leaders. The event featured a diverse array of 20 student companies, with 10 each from high school and university and levels. The students participated in intensive assessments, team-building activities, and inspiration sessions over two days, culminating in a grand Awards Ceremony that recognised outstanding achievements across various categories. This year, the competition also introduced five signature awards to highlight exceptional achievements. These include the Excellence in ESG Award by Bapco Energies, Best Booth and Brand Award by BASREC, Rising CEO Award by bni, Best Financial Performance Award by CrediMax and Excellence in Technology Award by NBB. Distinguished individuals served as judges in both the High School Track and the University Track, including representatives from prominent organisations including Dana Alhaddad from Beyon; Eng Jassim Darwish from GPIC; Nezar Habib from stc Bahrain and Yasser Al Khaja from Investcorp Holdings in the High School Track; Abdulaziz Tawfeeqi from Infracorp; Ali Alaradi from BDB; Amin Sultan from Alba; and Marwa Aleskafi from Tamkeen in the University Track. Tamkeen Announces New Intake for 'Mashroo3i' Program
The Labour Fund (Tamkeen) announced the opening of applications for a new intake of its 'Mashroo3i' program, designed for individuals with innovative ideas who aspire to enter the world of entrepreneurship. The program aims to strengthen the Kingdom's entrepreneurial ecosystem and encourage Bahraini youth to transform their innovative ideas into successful ventures. Through this program, Tamkeen offers Bahrainis with feasible business ideas, idea-stage startups, or early-stage startups the opportunity to join an intensive advisory program focused on developing key entrepreneurial skills.
