Egypt condemns Israeli closure orders to UNRWA schools in East Jerusalem - Foreign Affairs
Egypt strongly condemned on Wednesday the Israeli occupation's closure orders for six schools operated by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in East Jerusalem.
In an official statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Egypt considered this move a blatant and unacceptable violation of international law and reaffirmed full support for UNRWA, its efforts, and the vital services it provides across all areas of operation, including in East Jerusalem.
The ministry further emphasised that the UN agency's vital services to Palestinian refugees cannot be replaced or undermined. It stressed Egypt's rejection of the ongoing systematic campaign targeting UNRWA and its mandate.
The statement also underscored Egypt's insistence on safeguarding the rights of Palestinian refugees and the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, including their right of return.
On Tuesday, according to Palestinian news agency WAFA, Israeli occupation forces forcibly entered six UNRWA-affiliated schools in the neighbourhoods of Shuafat, Silwan, Sur Baher, and Wadi al-Joz, announcing plans to close the facilities.

Iran, US to Resume Nuclear Talks in Muscat on June 15
Ahmed Emam Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the sixth round of nuclear negotiations between Tehran and Washington will take place on June 15 in Muscat, the capital of Oman. The announcement was made late Monday by Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei in an official statement. The update follows remarks made a day earlier by former U.S. President Donald Trump, who told reporters after a phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that the upcoming talks with Iran were scheduled for June 12. The discrepancy in dates was not immediately addressed by either side. To date, the United States and Iran have held five rounds of indirect talks, previously hosted in both Muscat and Rome. The negotiations aim to find common ground on Iran's nuclear program, with Tehran seeking relief from economic sanctions in exchange for curbing certain nuclear activities. Iran insists that any agreement must respect its right to the peaceful use of nuclear energy. The talks remain fraught with tensions. U.S. envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, recently told ABC News that uranium enrichment remains a 'clear red line' for the Trump administration. 'We cannot allow it,' he said. 'Enrichment enables weaponization.' While Washington has in the past signaled a possible tolerance for low-level enrichment, recent statements from U.S. officials suggest a hardening stance, reflecting the widening gap between the two sides. The new round of negotiations comes amid a prolonged stalemate since the United States' withdrawal from the 2015 nuclear agreement in 2018. Despite multiple efforts to revive the deal, progress has been slow, with both Iran and the U.S. setting new conditions for re-engagement. Observers say the upcoming meeting in Muscat could be a critical moment for determining whether diplomacy can still prevail—or whether the two sides are headed toward deeper confrontation. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt News Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly Inaugurates Two Indian Companies Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War Arts & Culture Zahi Hawass: Claims of Columns Beneath the Pyramid of Khafre Are Lies News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks News Shell Unveils Cost-Cutting, LNG Growth Plan Videos & Features Video: Trending Lifestyle TikToker Valeria Márquez Shot Dead during Live Stream Technology 50-Year Soviet Spacecraft 'Kosmos 482' Crashes into Indian Ocean

Lavrov: Russian Military Operation to Continue in Ukraine
Nada Mustafa Russian Foreign Minister (FM) Sergey Lavrov announced that Russia's special military operation will continue following talks with Ukraine in Istanbul. However, he stated that Moscow remains open to facilitating humanitarian issues through diplomatic means. According to Russia's TASS news agency on Monday, Lavrov criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for failing to retrieve the bodies of Ukrainian soldiers in a timely manner, despite agreements reached during the Istanbul negotiations. Earlier, Vladimir Medinsky, Assistant to the Russian President and head of the Russian delegation to the talks with Kyiv, stated that Russia had launched a humanitarian initiative involving the remains of 6,000 Ukrainian soldiers. This initiative also included the exchange of prisoners of war and individuals under the age of 25, as outlined in the Istanbul agreements. However, Medinsky claimed that 'Moscow's goodwill was met with silence from the Kyiv regime,' accusing Ukraine of indefinitely postponing the proposed exchange. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt News Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly Inaugurates Two Indian Companies Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War Arts & Culture Zahi Hawass: Claims of Columns Beneath the Pyramid of Khafre Are Lies News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks News Shell Unveils Cost-Cutting, LNG Growth Plan Videos & Features Video: Trending Lifestyle TikToker Valeria Márquez Shot Dead during Live Stream Technology 50-Year Soviet Spacecraft 'Kosmos 482' Crashes into Indian Ocean
