Utah activists from several groups unite in organizing efforts

SALT LAKE CITY () — In the wake of recent protests, several organizations came together in Salt Lake City on Sunday evening for a panel discussion on how demonstrators can work toward a common goal.
The panel was made up of representatives from five grassroots organizations: , , , , and .
Panelists discussed how their respective groups can collaborate and work together, despite the groups' differences.

'The more of us that can unite, the more of us that can find things that we agree upon that we can fight together on, that's where change happens,' Tasia Roth, organizer of Utah March, said.
The event was held at Ken Sanders Rare Books in downtown Salt Lake, and Store Manager Natalie Corey told ABC4.com about one of the duties of bookstores.
'Bookstores in SLC have a duty to the people that they provide knowledge to, and we understand that enough that we're here to serve our community,' Corey said.
Ken Sanders Rare Books has long strived to provide a space where these groups can come together and organize.
'You see all kinds of people represented here. These people exist in our state, despite their not being represented in the state majority,' Corey said. 'These people have voice, they have words that are deserving to be heard.'
Corey went on to say that Sunday's panel brought a value that goes beyond just one rally or demonstration. She said it helped people create a space to 'step outside' themselves and have a better understanding about the world.

The Food Justice Coalition is a group that helps deliver ready-to-eat meals while working to fight food insecurity in Utah. Nuanua Collective focuses on supporting the LGBTQ+ community and indigenous people.
Utah March says it marches 'For Human Rights,' while Mormons with Hope aims to '' through the work of activists and organizers who are part of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The Salt Lake Democratic Socialists focuses on working toward 'an inclusive and democratic society.'

( — This Saturday and Sunday, the City's Department of Youth, Parks and Community Enrichment is inviting the community to take advantage of the $1 neighborhood pool entry, the City of Sacramento said. On June 14 and June 15, admission is only $1 per person at all neighborhood pools. Throughout the summer, neighborhood pools will cost $3 for youth and $5 for adults for recreation swim through the summer. Officials said the open hours and days may vary. The neighborhood pools include: Cabrillo Pool at 1648 65th Avenue Clunie Pool at 601 Alhambra Boulevard Doyle Pool at 2827 Mendel Way Glenn Hall Pool at 5201 Carlson Drive George Sim Pool at 6207 Logan Way Johnston Pool at 231 Eleanor Avenue Mangan Pool at 2230 34th Avenue McClatchy Pool at 3500 5th Avenue Oki Pool at 2715 Wissemann Drive Pannell Meadowview Pool at 2450 Meadowview Road Southside Pool at 2107 6th Street Tahoe Pool at 3501 59th Street Officials said YPCE will continue offering many aquatics programs at 12 lifeguarded neighborhood pools at the start of the summer season. The programs include swim lessons, swim team, aquacise, recreational swimming and lap swimming. Four free play/wading pools will be open for children under 7-years-old. Wading pools include: Bertha Henschel Play Pool at 160 45th Street Colonial Play Pool at 5315 19th Avenue Robertson Play Pool at 3525 Norwood Avenue William Land Play Pool at 1300 13th Avenue Meanwhile, the North Natomas Aquatics Complex charges $7 for youth and $9 for adults. Officials said it will be open seven days per week through August. $200,000 grant presented to San Joaquin County schools for learning program Free aquatics programs for youth and families with financial needs are available through the Youth Program Scholarship Fund, officials said. The naming contest will also help raise funds that will benefit Herbie and his companion, as well as cover the new bear's intake expenses, officials said. Advocates organizing to support immigrant families All voters have to do is make a minimum donation of $5 to the zoo's annual campaign fund, and then pick their favorite name of the three options.
