Air India crash death toll reaches 270 as search for bodies continues
The search for bodies at the site of one of India's worst aviation disasters entered its third day on Saturday, with the death toll climbing as high as 270 and authorities continuing their search for more bodies. The Air India, London-bound Boeing 787 crashed into a medical college hostel in a residential area of India's Ahmedabad in Gujarat state, killing 241 on board and at least 29 on the ground. Only one passenger survived, who is currently still under observation for some of his wounds. 'He is doing very well and will be ready to be discharged anytime soon,' said Dr. Dhaval Gameti at the Civil Hospital in Ahmedabad. Some relatives of the crash victims expressed frustration on Saturday that the process of identifying and handing over the remains of the dead was taking too long. Authorities say it normally takes up to 72 hours to complete DNA matching with samples provided by relatives, and they are expediting the process. Meanwhile, the Indian government has formed a high-level, multi-disciplinary committee to look into the causes leading to the crash to go alongside a separate, formal investigation by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau. The committee will focus on formulating procedures to prevent and handle aircraft emergencies in the future and 'will not be a substitute to other enquiries being conducted by relevant organisations," the Ministry of Civil Aviation said in a statement. Authorities are also inspecting Air India's entire fleet of Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, the country's Miniser of Civil Aviation said in his first news briefing since Thursday's crash. Israel on Saturday warned of further attacks on Iran following deadly retaliatory strikes on Israel which killed at least three and wounded dozens. Iranian state television reported that air defence was firing in the cities of Khorramabad, Kermanshah and Tabriz, signalling the start of what could be a new Israeli attack. Their retaliatory strikes on Saturday morning followed an Israeli assault on Iran targeting key figures in Tehran's nuclear programme and its armed forces the previous day. Iran's ambassador to the UN says 78 people were killed and more than 320 wounded in Friday's strikes. Israel's defence minister Israel Katz warned that 'Tehran will burn' if Iran continues firing missiles on Israel after at least three people died and dozens were wounded in central Israel on Saturday morning. The attacks come amid escalating tensions over Tehran's nuclear programme, which Israel says poses an existential threat. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government says the attack on Iran was necessary in order to prevent it from building a nuclear weapon, something Tehran denies seeking - although officials there have at times hinted they could pursue one. Experts and the US government have, meanwhile, previously assessed that Iran was not working towards developing such a weapon before Friday's strikes. Both Israel and Iran said the attacks would continue, increasing the chances of further escalation and expansion of the conflict in the wider Middle East region. Netanyahu said his objective was to eliminate any Iranian threat to Israel.

Italy opens menswear show season with Pitti Uomo, Milan Fashion Week
This season's edition of Milan Fashion Week Men will be rather low-key, clearly feeling the impact of the global geo-political and economic crisis. It will feature 81 events, including 44 presentations, 17 special events and 15 runway shows, plus five digital shows that will be streamed on the week's final morning, on Tuesday, June 24. Only three among Italian fashion's leading names will feature on the Milanese calendar this season: Dolce & Gabbana, Giorgio Armani and Prada, while Zegna will be showing in Dubai, and many other labels have opted to present their menswear collections with womenswear at the September fashion week. Some emerging labels that have made their mark on the Milanese fashion landscape in recent years will also give this edition a miss, like Magliano, which is replacing its habitual show with a movie screening, JordanLuca, and Indian designer Dhruv Kapoor. Milan will however rely on four 'new' names to freshen up the calendar, starting with British label Paul Smith, which is quitting Paris this season to show at its Milanese showroom on June 21. The other new entries on Milan's menswear programme are Setchu by Japanese designer Satoshi Kuwata, winner of the 2023 LVMH Prize, which will kick off proceedings on Friday, June 20; long-standing Italian label Fiorucci, in the midst of a major relaunch; and Qasimi, the menswear label by Hoor Al Qasimi, originally from the UAE. Two comebacks worth mentioning are those of Vivienne Westwood, which will stage a presentation, and Spanish designers Miguel Vieira and David Catalán, showing on Monday, June 23. The same day will end with the first runway show by French designer Emma Rowen Rose with her baroque-chic, made-in-Italy label Rowen Rose, which is set to launch a menswear line on this occasion. Before passing the baton to Paris, Milan Fashion Week will be enlivened by a few big parties, including those celebrating Dsquared2's 30th anniversary and Jacob Cohen's 40th.

Nike partners with NorBlack NorWhite for collaborative collection
Global sportswear brand Nike has partnered with Indian apparel brand NorBlack NorWhite to launch a collection that reimagines the traditional Indian tie-dye technique bandhani through sportswear silhouettes. The partnership marks Nike's first collaborative collection with an India-based label. "Our global collab with Nike is officially live, and heard we are India's first to ever do it," announced NorBlack NorWhite on Facebook. "Fifteen years ago when NBNW was born, we couldn't imagine bringing our love for bandhani (tie-dye) into the sports arena, but here we are and it's feeling too beautiful. Grateful for everyone who brought this to life." The collection features women's apparel ranging from shorts and tops to tights and bras. Accessories include sneakers and a crossbody bag, all designed to transition from the sports field to the street. With a campaign shot in Jaipur by photographer Bharat Sikka, the collection's promotions also highlight several Indian sportswomen, including sprinter Priya Mohan and wrestler Anshu Malik. The collection has launched globally on Nike's e-commerce store as well as in select offline outlets. "We were briefed by Nike around the themes of Burst and Ripple," NorBlack NorWhite's founders Mriga Kapadiya and Amrit Kumar told Elle India about the collaboration. "The inspiration came from how radiant a singular ripple can transpire into larger movements, especially in textile form. The bleeding colors from tie-dye felt like the perfect metaphor. Fruition stood out to us — this moment felt like the explosion of flavors and feelings that have been building for years." After relocating to India, Canada-born entrepreneurs Mriga Kapadiya and Amrit Kumar launched NorBlack NorWhite in 2009. The brand is known for its work with indigenous artisan communities, especially in the Kutch region of Gujarat.
