Diplomats deployed to Turkmenistan to assist Bahrainis

As part of its ongoing efforts to facilitate the return of Bahraini citizens stranded abroad in countries affected by current developments, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has deployed a team of Bahraini diplomats to Turkmenistan.
The diplomats are overseeing and coordinating with the relevant Turkmen authorities to streamline entry procedures for Bahraini citizens stranded in the Islamic Republic of Iran, enabling their transit through Turkmenistan and onward travel to the Kingdom of Bahrain via Gulf Air, the national carrier.

Kingdom Steps Up Anti-Fraud Drive
TDT | Manama Bahrain is stepping up its war on financial crime with the launch of a high-level training programme for fraud examiners, under a new partnership between the Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF) and OpenThinking Academy. The move will see the globally respected Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) credential offered in the Kingdom for the first time, aimed at arming finance, audit, and compliance professionals with the skills needed to detect, investigate, and prevent fraud in both public and private sectors. The agreement was signed in the presence of Dr Ahmed Al Shaikh, Chief Executive Officer of BIBF, Iyad Mourtada, Managing Director of OpenThinking Academy, and Bassam Kazerooni, Acting Head of the Banking & Finance Centre at BIBF. Integrity focus The CFE certification is a widely respected professional qualification combining forensic accounting, law, investigative techniques, and fraud prevention. Dr Al Shaikh said the partnership reflected BIBF's mission to equip Bahrainis and regional professionals with high-integrity, globally benchmarked credentials. 'This collaboration reflects our continued efforts to support Bahraini and regional professionals working to combat financial crimes,' he said. Iyad Mourtada said the programme would empower those in compliance, auditing, risk management, and financial security roles with advanced investigative skills. Training details The first cohort is set to begin in September 2025, led by certified instructors and industry experts at BIBF's campus. Participants will receive oneyear ACFE membership, access to the digital Fraud Examiners Manual, exam preparation materials, mock exams, and 30 Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credit hours. Designed for professionals in compliance, audit, fraud investigation, risk management, and public oversight bodies, the CFE programme is expected to enhance Bahrain's capabilities in financial crime prevention and detection.

Tamkeen supports 90 Bahraini employees at WestPoint Home
The Labour Fund (Tamkeen) announced its support for the employment and career development of 90 Bahraini employees at WestPoint Home W.L.L., a leading textile manufacturing company, through its employment and career development support programmes. Tamkeen's support is aligned with its strategic priorities for 2025, which focus on enhancing the position and competitiveness of Bahrainis in the private sector, equipping Bahrainis with suitable skills for career development in the private sector, and prioritizing enterprise growth, digitization, and sustainability, and supporting the development of the ecosystem surrounding the labour market and private sector. As a corner stone of Bahrain's non-oil economy, the Manufacturing Sector significantly contributes to economic growth. In 2024, it ranked as the second-largest contributor to GDP after the Financial and Insurance sector, accounting for 15.1% of total output. On this occasion, Mr. Khalid Al Bayat, Chief Growth Officer at the Labour Fund (Tamkeen), commented: 'we are committed to supporting ambitious Bahraini enterprises striving for global competitiveness and our continued support of WestPoint Home W.L.L. since 2017 has been instrumental in expanding its operations and developing its capabilities, which in turn enhanced the role of Bahraini talent through job creation and career growth.'
