Bomb squad called to suspicious package in centre
A shopping centre in Hull has been cordoned off by police after a suspicious package was found, police have said.
Humberside Police said it was called to the premises on Ferensway following the discovery at about 18:20 GMT on Tuesday.
A 200m (219yds) cordon has been put in place around the venue while an Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit (EOD) is sent to "examine the item", the force has said.
The building has been evacuated as a precaution and people have been advised to avoid the area until further notice.
Posting on social media, a police spokesperson said road closures were in place on Ferensway, Anlaby Road, and Spencer Street to "allow emergency services to work safely".
In a post on X, Stagecoach East Midlands said bus services had been affected, with passengers being alighted as close as possible to the Paragon Interchange, which is adjacent to the shopping centre.
Rail operator Northern said train passengers were affected, with services in and out of the station suspended due to the incident.
Hull Truck Theatre said performances of two shows, Mary and the Hyenas and The Contestant, had been cancelled due to "a full evacuation".

Ukraine drones attack on Moscow forces airport closure, Russia says
A Ukrainian drone attack targeting Moscow forced the closure of two of the key airports serving the capital, Russian authorities said early on Sunday. Russia air defence units destroyed nine Ukrainian drones heading towards Moscow by 0400 GMT, Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said on the Telegram messaging app. Emergency services were dispatched to the sites where drone debris fell in the overnight attack, Sobyanin said. He did not report any immediate damage. A Ukrainian drone attack also sparked a short-lived fire at the Azot chemical plant in the Tula region, injuring two people, and seven drones were destroyed over the Kaluga region, regional governors said. Both regions border the Moscow region to the south of the capital. Reuters could not independently verify the reports. There was no immediate comment from Ukraine. Russia's civil aviation authority Rosaviatsia said on Telegram that to ensure air safety it was halting flights at the Vnukovo and Domodedovo airports. Russia and Ukraine have increased their attacks in recent weeks while also returning to peace talks for the first time since the early days of the war that Russia launched against Ukraine in February 2022.

Man drives into a crowd in Germany's Passau, injuring several
A man drove a car into a group of people in the southern German city of Passau on Saturday, injuring several people, police said. Five people are being treated in hospital, including the man's wife, 38, and their 5-year-old daughter, according to a police spokesman. The severity of their injuries was not immediately known. The incident occurred at 3:30 pm (1330 GMT). Passers-by alerted the police. Police detained the driver, 48, and have not ruled out that he drove into the crowd on purpose, though that is currently unclear. Police suspect the incident may be linked to his relationship, the spokesman said. "The criminal police are on site and have taken over the investigation," he added. In February, a car drove into a demonstration march in Munich. Two of the injured - a woman and her 2-year-old child - later died in hospital.
