Everett police arrest 2 people accused of threatening student near North Middle School

The Brief
An adult and juvenile are accused of threatening at least one student near North Middle School on Tuesday.
As of Thursday night, the two were out of custody.
The incident happened two blocks away from where a fellow classmate was stabbed last month.
EVERETT, Wash. - Two males, an adult and juvenile, were arrested Tuesday, accused of threatening at least one student near North Middle School. This is the same area where a fellow classmate was recently stabbed.
What we know
According to an incident report summary obtained by FOX 13, Everett Police responded to the area of Broadway and 23rd Street for a report of an armed robbery.
"Two male suspects, one adult and juvenile, were taken into custody approximately 30 minutes after the event was reported. They were both booked. One was booked into Denny Juvenile Justice Center and the second into Snohomish County Jail," said a department spokesperson.
FOX 13 spoke with the victim and his family. We are not identifying the minor for safety reasons.
"I kept trying to walk away and they kept questioning me," said the eighth grader. "They asked me if my shoes were real."
The teen told FOX 13 he knew he was about to be robbed of his Jordans.
"I saw one guy reach into his pocket," he said. "He said, 'We can do this the easy way or the hard way.'"
The teen was about to make a split decision: his personal safety or his shoes.
Luckily, his dad showed up.
"I saw these two people standing next to my son," said Rogolio Blanco. "My son was trying to back up away from them."
Pulling up in his truck and rolling down the window, he scared the pair off.
"We called 911 and police quickly came to our location," said Blanco.
Within 30 minutes, police arrested the suspects. As of Thursday night, they were out of custody.
"We're just scared," said the teen's mother, Pricilla Goldberg. "Will they come back?"
Dig deeper
Compounding the issue of safety is the fact that Tuesday's crime happened two blocks away from the stabbing of a North Middle School student on January 16.
"We know each other," said the teen. "I didn't know if this was related to what happened to my friend or not."
"What was the motive?," asked his mother? "Shoes? This area has become so dangerous. I would highly recommend that kids don't walk alone."
As for her son's schooling, she said the family has made the tough decision to transfer schools.
"With the stabbing and now this, I have to protect my child," said Goldberg. "The area near Broadway is not getting any safer."
