The Denver Nuggets are just entering a crucial offseason for the team, with plenty of tough decisions to be made about many key players and coaches. Some of those decisions about coaches and front office members have been made already after the team fired head coach Michael Malone and Calvin Booth near the end of the regular season.

Shortly after losing in Game 7 of the second round of the playoffs to the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Nuggets promoted David Adelman to be the new full-time head coach. He then let go of most of his assistant coaching staff, so this Denver team will look a lot different next season.
The Nuggets also have some tough decisions to make as they wait and see which players will be back next season. Backup point guard Russell Westbrook has a player option that he can opt into for next season, but there is a team overseas that could offer him a lucrative amount of money to leave the NBA, according to Nemanja Zoric of HoopsHype.
'Hapoel Tel Aviv has made initial contact with former NBA All-Star Russell Westbrook,' Zoric wrote. 'I'm told the Eurocup champions are planning to make him an offer with a salary never seen before in European basketball.'
Westbrook had his rocky moments for the Nuggets this season, but he was still one of the few players that the staff and the players trusted to come in and contribute in a playoff setting. The former MVP is past his prime as a star player in the NBA, but there is a chance that he could find that again if he were to go overseas. He would also arguably be the biggest star in the league if he were to go overseas, something that he cannot claim anymore in the United States.

While Nuggets fans were mixed on Westbrook throughout the season, he would still be a big loss and would leave another big hole that Denver would have to fill in free agency. For a team that is somewhat strapped for cash and assets, maybe keeping him around for another year is the best option, especially if he picks up his player option.

Eight days later, the Thunder promptly beat the Cavs by 20 at home. Oklahoma City beat the Pacers 120-114 on the road on Dec. 26 and 132-111 at home on March 29. The Thunder beat the Knicks 117-107 at home on Jan. 3 and then by 25 a week later in a 126-101 win at Madison Square Garden. At the moment, the Pacers are the more likely Finals opponent as Indiana has a 3-1 lead over the Knicks ahead of Game 5 in New York. The Pacers are currently +550 to win the Finals ahead of Game 5 and the Knicks are +3000.

The polarizing ESPN personality is being criticized for playing the popular card game Solitaire during the Thunder's 111-104 road win over the Pacers in Game 4 of the NBA Finals on Friday, with even rival NBA player Kevin Durant joining in on the mocking. Report: Timberwolves Expected to Chase Kevin Durant Again… and He's Interested
For the second-straight playoffs, the Minnesota Timberwolves season ended in a five-game puff of Western Conference Finals smoke, leaving the new Marc Lore and Alex Rodriguez led ownership group with a bunch of questions as they enter the offseason. The biggest task on that to-do list is re-signing president of basketball operations, Tim Connelly. I expect that to be taken care of in short order. Then, Lore and A-Rod can let Tim work his magic on all of the other things on the rest of that checklist. Advertisement But according to the latest word on the street, once Connelly and Wolves have re-upped their commitment, they already have a target locked in on a familiar trade target, Kevin Durant. On Thursday, Brian Windhorst teased possible Minnesota Timberwolves interest in pursuing the 11-time All-NBA superstar, after they came so close to getting a last-minute deal done at the NBA trade deadline. What Minnesota desperately needed was backcourt scorer, who can get his own shot and make defenses pay for loading up on Ant. What does Durant have left to offer the Wolves? And even though KD's best days are now behind him, nobody fits that description better. Durant posted 26.6 points per game last season in Phoenix, just 0.6 points off his career average (27.2 PPG). He shot 53% from the field, up 2.5% from his career average, and 43% from deep, up a full 4%. The money won't be easy to make work, given both the Timberwolves and Suns are in the second apron of the luxury tax. More than likely, a trade would have to include Julius Randle, should he opt-in to his one-year $31 million player option. With Kevin Durant scheduled to make $54 million in the final year of his current deal, more work will have to be done, in order to facilitate a deal. Of course, if the Minnesota Timberwolves want KD that badly, then Connelly and his front office will find a way to make it work. And when Tim is running the show, I don't really worry about getting fleeced or something going wrong. That just doesn't really happen with him in charge.
