The Denver Nuggets are just entering a crucial offseason for the team, with plenty of tough decisions to be made about many key players and coaches. Some of those decisions about coaches and front office members have been made already after the team fired head coach Michael Malone and Calvin Booth near the end of the regular season.

Shortly after losing in Game 7 of the second round of the playoffs to the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Nuggets promoted David Adelman to be the new full-time head coach. He then let go of most of his assistant coaching staff, so this Denver team will look a lot different next season.
The Nuggets also have some tough decisions to make as they wait and see which players will be back next season. Backup point guard Russell Westbrook has a player option that he can opt into for next season, but there is a team overseas that could offer him a lucrative amount of money to leave the NBA, according to Nemanja Zoric of HoopsHype.
'Hapoel Tel Aviv has made initial contact with former NBA All-Star Russell Westbrook,' Zoric wrote. 'I'm told the Eurocup champions are planning to make him an offer with a salary never seen before in European basketball.'
Westbrook had his rocky moments for the Nuggets this season, but he was still one of the few players that the staff and the players trusted to come in and contribute in a playoff setting. The former MVP is past his prime as a star player in the NBA, but there is a chance that he could find that again if he were to go overseas. He would also arguably be the biggest star in the league if he were to go overseas, something that he cannot claim anymore in the United States.

While Nuggets fans were mixed on Westbrook throughout the season, he would still be a big loss and would leave another big hole that Denver would have to fill in free agency. For a team that is somewhat strapped for cash and assets, maybe keeping him around for another year is the best option, especially if he picks up his player option.

NBA Finals odds: OKC Thunder are absolutely massive favorites against either the Pacers or Knicks
The Oklahoma City Thunder are a staggeringly large favorite to win the NBA Finals. After securing a 124-94 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 5 of their Western Conference finals matchup, the Thunder are -625 at BetMGM to beat either the Indiana Pacers or New York Knicks in the Finals. If you bet $10 on the Thunder to win the Finals, you'd net $1.60 in profit if they were to win the title. Advertisement Oklahoma City has been the best team in the NBA this season by a wide margin. The Thunder went 68-14 to secure the top seed in the West for a second straight year and had a historically good point differential. The Thunder outscored opponents by 12.9 points per game during the regular season. That was more than half a point better than the previous record set by the Los Angeles Lakers in the 1971-72 season when Los Angeles outscored opponents by 12.3 points per game. Oklahoma City also finished at least 16 games ahead of every other team in the Western Conference as Shai Gilgeous-Alexander won his first MVP award. Gilgeous-Alexander scored 34 points in Game 5 on Wednesday night and led the league with 32.7 points per game while also averaging 6.4 assists and 5 rebounds. OKC's incredible regular season was bolstered by its dominance of the Eastern Conference. And that assuredly plays a big role in the team's status as a huge Finals favorite. Oklahoma City went 29-1 against teams from the East. Advertisement The Thunder's only loss to an East team came on Jan. 8 when they fell 129-122 on the road to the Cleveland Cavaliers. Eight days later, the Thunder promptly beat the Cavs by 20 at home. Oklahoma City beat the Pacers 120-114 on the road on Dec. 26 and 132-111 at home on March 29. The Thunder beat the Knicks 117-107 at home on Jan. 3 and then by 25 a week later in a 126-101 win at Madison Square Garden. At the moment, the Pacers are the more likely Finals opponent as Indiana has a 3-1 lead over the Knicks ahead of Game 5 in New York. The Pacers are currently +550 to win the Finals ahead of Game 5 and the Knicks are +3000.

Stephen A. Smith under fire for playing game on his phone during NBA Finals while Kevin Durant joins the mocking
Stephen A. Smith may not have played his cards right. The polarizing ESPN personality is being criticized for playing the popular card game Solitaire during the Thunder's 111-104 road win over the Pacers in Game 4 of the NBA Finals on Friday, with even rival NBA player Kevin Durant joining in on the mocking. Advertisement Durant posted to his Instagram story the image of Smith playing the game while at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. 'CMON STEVE,' Durant wrote on the bottom of the photo. Smith maintained he only turned to the mobile version of the game during a stoppage in play in a response to a quote tweet from popular NBA aggregator on X @LegionHoops showing him playing cards. 'Yep! That's me. Who would've thought….I can multi-task. Especially during TIMEOUTS!' Smith wrote in a quote tweet of the post. 'Hope y'all are enjoying the NBA Finals. This is going 7 games now, peeps!' Advertisement 5 The photo of Smith playing Solitaire. @LegionHoops/X However, not everyone is buying that response. The community note on Smith's post claims he's fabricating his story and linked to a video showing Smith playing the game during in-game action. Advertisement 'Stephen A. Is lying. This photo was taken during gameplay, NOT during a timeout,' the community note states. The video linked in the post came from user @feellikedrew, who posted a video showing the Thunder going for a basket before cutting to Smith with the game on his phone. The end of the clip showed the Pacers running a play. Advertisement 'Bro talks about knowing ball,' the caption read. 'He's playing solitaire during the NBA finals.' 5 The action happening while Smith was shown playing a card game on his phone. @FeelLikeDrew/X Smith attempted to get the last laugh by posting just after midnight a photo showing a Solitaire hand with an inset image from when the Pacers led, 87-80, with 11:36 remaining in the game. The Thunder outscored the Pacers, 12-1, in the final three minutes to even the series at 2-2. Pacers fans and Durant are upset with the controversial Smith for comments he's made. Smith would not classify Indiana star Tyrese Haliburton as a superstar and then fired at Haliburton after the guard chirped at NBA pundits — he didn't name Smith specifically — after pulling the Game 3 upset. Advertisement 'Oh, by the way, just in case he was talking about me. My brother, I'm not going away,' Smith said on 'First Take' on Thursday. 'I'm going to be here for a while. .. Players far more accomplished and far more superior have made their efforts trying to call me out. How has that worked out?' 5 Kevin Durant posted this shot to his Instagram Story. @easymoneysniper/Instagram 5 Kevin Durant and Smith have feuded plenty. Kirby Lee-Imagn Images Advertisement The feud between Durant and Smith goes back years and the NBA star called him out in April for being too distracted to digest enough basketball after Smith mocked his leadership. 'Steve is trying to run for president, u think he actually paid attention to a struggling team??' Durant said in reference to the Suns. 'It's called propaganda.'

Report: Timberwolves Expected to Chase Kevin Durant Again… and He's Interested
For the second-straight playoffs, the Minnesota Timberwolves season ended in a five-game puff of Western Conference Finals smoke, leaving the new Marc Lore and Alex Rodriguez led ownership group with a bunch of questions as they enter the offseason. The biggest task on that to-do list is re-signing president of basketball operations, Tim Connelly. I expect that to be taken care of in short order. Then, Lore and A-Rod can let Tim work his magic on all of the other things on the rest of that checklist. Advertisement But according to the latest word on the street, once Connelly and Wolves have re-upped their commitment, they already have a target locked in on a familiar trade target, Kevin Durant. On Thursday, Brian Windhorst teased possible Minnesota Timberwolves interest in pursuing the 11-time All-NBA superstar, after they came so close to getting a last-minute deal done at the NBA trade deadline. Minnesota Timberwolves expected to pursue an interested Kevin Durant this offseason Credit: Joe Camporeale-Imagn Images Then Friday afternoon, sources tell Ashish Mathur ( that, not only are the Timberwolves still interested in Durant, but Tim Connelly & Co. already have plans in place and they're 'expected to pursue' the 36-year-old 4x scoring champion this summer. Advertisement And while KD doesn't have the luxury of a no-trade clause, or the control it brings, Hoops Wire's report does note that Kevin Durant does indeed have interest in playing for the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Timberwolves need another 'alpha' next to Edwards to win it all, which is why sources told Hoops Wire that Minnesota is expected to pursue a Durant trade again this offseason. A future Hall of Famer, Durant doesn't have a no-trade clause in his contract, but he's interested in playing for the Timberwolves, sources said. In the Western Conference Finals, the Minnesota Timberwolves struggled mightily to force the Oklahoma City Thunder out of a defensive game plan that was made to do one thing, and one thing only. Shut down Anthony Edwards. Related: Kendrick Perkins Apologizes to Anthony Edwards Because the rest of the Wolves' best scorers are big men, their swarming defense made it impossible for Julius Randle, Naz Reid and especially Rudy Gobert, to exert their will on the offensive end. What Minnesota desperately needed was backcourt scorer, who can get his own shot and make defenses pay for loading up on Ant. What does Durant have left to offer the Wolves? And even though KD's best days are now behind him, nobody fits that description better. Durant posted 26.6 points per game last season in Phoenix, just 0.6 points off his career average (27.2 PPG). He shot 53% from the field, up 2.5% from his career average, and 43% from deep, up a full 4%. The money won't be easy to make work, given both the Timberwolves and Suns are in the second apron of the luxury tax. More than likely, a trade would have to include Julius Randle, should he opt-in to his one-year $31 million player option. With Kevin Durant scheduled to make $54 million in the final year of his current deal, more work will have to be done, in order to facilitate a deal. Of course, if the Minnesota Timberwolves want KD that badly, then Connelly and his front office will find a way to make it work. And when Tim is running the show, I don't really worry about getting fleeced or something going wrong. That just doesn't really happen with him in charge.
