Having started off on the bench, the 17-year-old attacking midfielder came on for Thiago Almada in the 84th minute of the game. Advertisement In the process, Mastantuono achieved a major milestone in the history of the Argentine national team becoming the youngest player to play for the senior team in a points-based match. The River Plate sensation surpassed Alejandro Garnacho (who debuted at 18 years, 11 months and 14 days against Australia in 2023) and Facundo Buonanotte (18 years, 5 months and 27 days against Indonesia). Overall, Mastantuono is now the fifth-youngest player ever to debut for the three-time world champions, and the youngest debutant of the 21st century. Among those ahead of him is the legendadary Diego Maradona, who made his debut at 16 years and 3 months in a friendly match against Hungary in 1977.

Barcelona president tight-lipped when asked about Nico Williams pursuit
Barcelona president Joan Laporta made a public appearance today at the 'Marxa Culer' event during which he was asked about the club's pursuit of Nico Williams by the media present. Having seemingly discarded the signing of the Spanish international after being snubbed last year, the Blaugrana are back in the hunt for the 22-year-old winger. Advertisement This comes after Nico's agent, Felix Tainta, held a meeting with Barcelona's sporting director Deco at a hotel on Friday. Since then, it has been reported that the UEFA Euro 2024 winner is 'crazy' about playing for the La Liga champions. Some sources in Spain have even claimed that Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has had a conversation with the player over a phone call, explaining to him the sporting project. Aaron Rodgers Looks Forward to Mentoring Will Howard: ‘I'm Gonna Help Him Out as Much as I Can'
PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers revealed during his introductory press conference on Tuesday that he looks forward to serving as a mentor for rookie Will Howard. 'Will's a good kid,' Rodgers said. 'Got to talk a little bit. I thought he did really well today. he seems pretty bright. [The game's] not too big for him. He got through progressions really well. I'm gonna be with him every single day and every single meeting. Found my seat next to him in the offensive meeting… I'm gonna help him out as much as I can.' Advertisement Howard is chomping at the bit to learn from one of the best quarterbacks in NFL history. 'I was fired up,' Howard said when he heard that Rodgers signed with the Steelers. 'Believe me. That's a guy I grew up watching, idolizing, and it's cool to be in the same room with him. Just hearing, first day, his thoughts and the way that he looks at things. He's a legend in this game. I'm gonna try and learn as much as I can from him and be the best support guy that I can be for him. I think it's amazing. The opportunity for me to learn and to work with a guy like that is second to none.' Having the chance to learn from a four-time NFL MVP like Aaron Rodgers will only set Howard up for success at the next level, and he knows that. 'I've been watching him pretty much, damn near, my whole life. There's a lot of things I've picked up from him. The things he can do with the football in his hands are kind of special,' Howard said. 'You got to make the best of your situation. I think him being here, for me, is like a dream come true, learning from a guy like that.' Advertisement Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love recently revealed that Aaron Rodgers played a big part in his development. 'In my time with A-Rod, we had a great relationship. It was awesome being in the same room with him, being able to learn. He was amazing with everything. And I definitely appreciate the way he handled everything on the outside with obviously him leaving and me taking over, and he's been very supportive of me [since],' Love said in an interview with Jason Wilde of ESPN Milwaukee. Brett Favre didn't necessarily welcome Rodgers with open arms in 2005, but that wasn't the case for Love. Rodgers made sure to be a good mentor. He also looks forward to facing Rodgers in Week 8 when the Steelers and Packers square off on Sunday Night Football at Acrisure Stadium.
