Challenged to a supernatural game by the sultan, you have to fulfill the conditions of a mystical game that demands you commit dreadful sins: Carnality, Bloodshed, Conquest, and Extravagance.
You'll have to desperately scheme, manage your limited resources, and explore the depths and heights of society to win a stay of execution—and to survive the consequences of the horrible things you did to win.
Sultan's Game is a really cool narrative card game, a kind of bleak, terrible world where your poor character must sink to lowest lows in a desperate bid to survive a kind of gruesome One Thousand and One Nights fantasy world of mystics and madmen.
The game's not only very pretty, but it strikes a balance between resource management and surprising narrative events. It's a little pop-up dark fantasy story generator that you're in charge of keeping running.
PC Gamer's Robin Valentine got a look at it earlier this year and said that it'd "turn you into a desperate sociopath… uh, in a fun way."
"[It's] a game not just about doing bad things to excess, but having to work really hard at it. Success requires sustained manipulation, scheming, murder, and… well, a pretty in-depth knowledge of the local brothel. You're essentially being forced to be a monstrous, decadent sociopath against your will and beyond your means," he said.
A few days after launch, the publisher and developer announced that Sultan's Game has sold more than 100,000 copies, and it has Very Positive reviews on Steam as of press time.
Developer Double Cross is working on updates including Steam Workshop support, automation for repetitive events, better card organization, more music and sound effects, and sensitive content filters for some of the darker storylines.
You can find Sultan's Game on Steam for $25, though it's 10% off until April 10.

It focuses on three friends spending their last night together, with a perfect mixtape of music to accompany their final adventure as friends. It's also, according to creative lead Johnny Galvatron, got GTA beating toilet paper tech and getting the rights to use one song involved sending someone up a mountain. Wishlist Mixtape on Steam now Mixtape is odd to explain initially but instantly makes sense when you see it in action. "The music is a mixtape and so is the gameplay," says Galvatron. "There's everything from skateboarding to pulling slushies; there's an amazing level where your toilet paper a house. I just have to say, our toilet paper tech is second to none. The way you can toilet paper that house? I'm extremely proud of that. Grand Theft Auto? Nothing on our toilet paper tech." Even without the soundtrack it's an interesting clash of genres with a distinctive art style. But it is all about the music. "On their last night together [three friends] listen to this perfectly curated mixtape, containing music from DEVO, Roxy Music, Lush, The Smashing Pumpkins, Iggy Pop, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Joy Division, The Cure and many more," he explains. "Through the gameplay, through the music, you relive their finest hours." Getting a soundtrack with such a high pedigree wasn't easy either. "One of the things I enjoyed the most was collating the soundtrack and then getting the wheels in motion for how to get that music," admits Galvatron. "I'm not saying it was The Cure, but we were trying to get a song and one of the people that owned the copyright was up a mountain and we had to send a sherpa to go and find this guy so we could get the rights." Mixtape is looking like a cinematic, arty take on the familiar whimsy of growing up, with Galvatron name-checking films like Dazed and Confused, Ferris Bueller's Day Off and even Wayne's World. Mariah Carey, Jamie Foxx among honorees at 2025 BET Awards: Full winners list (updating live)
The 2025 BET Awards, hosted by Kevin Hart, took center stage Monday night to honor Black excellence across music, film, television, and sports. Dubbed "Culture's Biggest Night," the star-studded event showcased the best of the best in creative achievement. See This Heartbreaking Footage Of Abandoned CBS Studio After Magnum P.I. And NCIS: Hawai'i Were Canceled

While we're officially six months into the 2025 TV schedule, there are still a handful of TV cancellations from 2024 that I will never get over. NCIS: Hawai'i and Magnum P.I. are two of these. The series, both set and filmed in the Aloha State, ended after their respective third and fifth seasons last year, with Magnum actually canceled for the second time this time around. The axings still feel fresh to me, butnew footage has been posted of the abandoned studio lot in Hawaii, and it's very clear time has passed. Jason Antoon, who portrayed cyber intelligence specialist Ernie Malik on the NCIS: Hawai'i spinoff, shared a video on X from outside Hawaii Film Studio in Honolulu, O'ahu. It's no longer bustling with projects, and it seems pretty abandoned. So much so that it's empty and 'full of weeds,' as Antoon himself confirmed. The overgrown grass an empty feeling is heartbreaking, and it's sad seeing the studios aren't bringing much entertainment work to the island anymore. That wasn't always the case; Hawaii Film Studio was also previously the home of Hawaii Five-0 and Lost, as well as several other films and shows. Rising costs have plagued the entertainment industry in recent years. "Financials" were previously cited by CBS as a reason the decision was made, and it's probably getting more expensive to shoot in Hawaii, and budget cuts seemed like a probability even before the show was shut down. NCIS: Hawai'i's cancellation last year was a pretty big shock, especially since it was doing well for the Eye Network. Star Vanessa Lachey was blindsided by the cancelation, and Antoon ended up trolling CBS over the news. There had been some hope that CBS would change its mind, since there were campaigns and petitions from very upset fans, but that never happened. Now seeing the studio looking like a ghost town makes me sad all over again. There was hope things could continue in Hawaii following the cancellations, thanks to Fox's Rescue: HI-Surf, a lifeguard drama set on the North Shore of O'ahu. However, that series also got the boot in May, but only because it didn't bring in the audience Fox was expecting. What really needs to happen is for a new show to take over the studio lot, one that is guaranteed to not only bring in jobs to the locals but one that will last, a rarity on network TV these days. NCIS: Hawai'i and Magnum P.I. may be no longer, but the shows live on thanks to streaming. Hawai'i can be streamed with a Paramount+ subscription, while Magnum is available with an Amazon Prime subscription.
