Mirai teaser: After Hanu-Man, Teja Sajja returns as a warrior in search of his identity and a magical weapon. Watch
Teja Sajja, who once played grandson to actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu in the film Oh Baby (2019), rose to fame after his fantasy film Hanu-Man (2024) made on a moderate budget, went on to earn in crores, beating Mahesh Babu and Nagarjuna's film at the box office in Pongal last year. Now, the actor is back with yet another fantasy drama, Mirai. On Wednesday, the makers dropped the film's teaser giving a glimpse of their project's theme and characters.
Directed by Karthik Gattamneni, the cinematographer behind the famous Telugu franchise Karthikeya, Mirai stars actors Jagapathi Babu, Manchu Manoj, and Ritika Nayak among others. While the film is slated to release on September 5 worldwide, it revolves around a magic weapon, which is the only hope to save people living in Kaliyuga from a devil-minded human who is backed by evil power.
The teaser starts with a monologue by Jayaram, who plays a seer, , 'Aanewala hai ek maha sangram, ant honewala hai Ashok ka Aashay. Kaliyug mein janmi koi shakti ise rok nahi sakti. Iss baar rasta bhagwan nahi, dharm ke liye lada hua divya astra dikhayega. Wahi hai Mirai. (A war is about to happen. No one from kaliyuga can put an end to this. This time, even God cannot be our saviour. If there is anything that can save us, it is the ancient weapon Mirai).' The teaser then introduces its villain played by Manchu Manoj. A childhood in isolation changes him into a brutal human being. After showing a glimpse of other actors including Shriya Saran, Jagapathi Babu, Rajendranath Zutshi and Pawan Chopra, the teaser then introduces the character of Teja Sajja. A man who is unaware of his powers.

The teaser ends with what seems like Lord Rama walking through a crowd of monkeys, creating a lot of excitement in fans. Soon after the teaser release, many flooded the comments section with praises for the plot, VFX and actor's performance. Many claimed it has better VFX than War 2.
A user wrote, 'Tollywood at its peak and showing true culture.' Another user wrote, 'Teja Sajja ki script selection perfect hai.'
Others compared the film's VFX to that of Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR's War 2. A user commented, 'That running on the train scene was far better than what we saw in War 2's teaser.' Another user commented, 'Even War 2 VFX feels bad in front of this. Once upon a time, Bollywood used to have a great VFX but Tollywood has overtaken totally. Really proud to see movies like these.'
Some even compared the film to Prabhas' Kalki. A user said the battleground scene reminded him of a scene from Nag Ashwin's Kalki. The user wrote, 'This scene reminded me the Mahabharat scenes from KALKI 2898 AD. The VFX looks impressive.'
The People Media Factory production, originally made in Telugu, will also release in Hindi, among other languages.

Deepika Padukone quits Kalki 2 after 8-hour shift demand! Script leak accusation adds fuel to spirit exit drama
Actor Deepika Padukone has reportedly opted out of the second part of Kalki 2898 AD, following her earlier controversial exit from Spirit, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. The decision, according to sources, came after she requested an 8-hour workday—an ask that may not align with the scale and requirements of the upcoming film. Makers struggle to accommodate shorter work hours According to a report by Deepika had asked the production team of Kalki 2898 AD to consider limiting her daily work schedule to eight hours. This comes in light of her recent transition into motherhood after welcoming her daughter Dua in September 2024. Given that the project is a big-budget, high-scale film, sources claim that the team is finding it difficult to accommodate her request without compromising the film's progress. As a result, the makers are now reportedly considering either removing her character or reducing her screen presence in the sequel. There has been no official word yet from Deepika or the production team. Kalki sequel was to show her giving birth to the saviour Deepika played a central role in the first part of Kalki 2898 AD, portraying a pregnant woman who carries the unborn Kalki avatar of Lord Vishnu. Her character was set to deliver the divine child in the sequel, who would rise to save a post-apocalyptic world from an oppressive regime. The film also features major stars including Amitabh Bachchan, Prabhas, and Kamal Haasan, and draws heavily from the Mahabharata for its plot themes. Earlier exit from spirit and script leak allegations Deepika's name also surfaced in headlines recently after she was reportedly removed from Spirit, another upcoming film by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, also starring Prabhas. Reports suggest the actress had demanded an 8-hour schedule, a significant remuneration, and a share in the film's profits—terms the filmmaker reportedly did not agree to. Soon after, actor Triptii Dimri was announced as the female lead of the project. The controversy escalated when Vanga posted on X (formerly Twitter) without naming anyone, but indirectly implying a breach of trust. He claimed that a script he had shared during discussions with a lead actor had been leaked. 'There is an unsaid NDA between us… Putting down a younger actor and ousting my story? Is this what your feminism stands for?' he wrote, questioning the intentions of the unnamed actor and stating that she 'didn't get it, won't get it, and will never get it.'

Dakota Johnson distances herself from Madame Web debacle, blames it one people ‘who don't have a creative bone in their body'
Dakota Johnson has been busy juggling interviews and promo runs for her upcoming film, Materialists, with Pedro Pascal and Chris Evans. And while the storyline sounds like a crowd-puller, her box office history has critics raising eyebrows. The Spider-Man spinoff Madame Web, in which she played Cassandra Webb, tanked at the box office despite the Marvel tag. Also starring Sydney Sweeney, Isabela Merced, Celeste O'Connor, Emma Roberts, and more, the film got roasted by critics, dragged by fans, and swept the Razzies for Worst Picture, Worst Screenplay, and Worst Actress for Dakota. Now, Dakota's finally breaking the silence on what went down, and she's making it clear: she wasn't the problem. Also read: Coldplay's Chris Martin and Dakota Johnson break up for good; she wanted kids, he didn't: report In a new interview with The Los Angeles Times, the 35-year-old criticised studio decisions that, according to her, ruined the project. Dakota gave a blunt response, blaming the downfall on people 'who don't have a creative bone in their body.' She said Madame Web started as one thing but turned into something completely different by the time they were actually shooting. 'It wasn't my fault,' she said, laughing at how she got targeted, when in reality, she never felt responsible for the failure. Instead, she revealed feeling like a passenger on a chaotic ride, not the one driving. 'There's this thing that happens now where a lot of creative decisions are made by committee. And it's really hard to make art that way. Or to make something entertaining that way.' Acknowledging that 'bigger-budget movies fail all the time,' she also made it clear she's not losing sleep over it. 'There's no part of me that's like, 'Oh, I'll never do that again' to anything. I've done even tiny movies that didn't do well. Who cares?' In a previous interview with Bustle, the actor said she won't be doing another superhero movie anytime soon because, in her words, 'I don't make sense in that world. And I know that now.' Madame Web was reportedly made on a budget of $80 million but earned just around $100 million. In the film, Dakota plays Cassandra Webb, a New York paramedic with psychic powers, tasked with protecting three teenage girls. Back in 2024, Sony Pictures CEO Tony Vinciquerra blamed the press for 'crucifying' the movie before the audience even had a chance to give their verdict. He also claimed the film did 'great on Netflix' and pointed fingers at critics for 'destroying the movie,' simply because they never wanted Sony to make these Spider-Man spinoffs. Also read: Madame Web movie review: Dakota Johnson can't save this dreary film The daughter of Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith, Dakota has struggled to find her way in Hollywood post the Fifty Shades trilogy. With the upcoming Celine Song directorial (the acclaimed filmmaker behind Past Lives), she's finally trying her luck in a romantic comedy. In the story, Dakota plays a professional matchmaker who, in her personal life, is torn between her perfect suitor and the ex who never really left her mind. The film also stars Zoe Winters, Marin Ireland, Dasha Nekrasova, Louisa Jacobson, and Sawyer Spielberg, and hits theatres on June 13.
