36 to be exiled from coastal Karnataka district for repeat communal offences?
The Dakshina Kannada police, in coordination with the district administration, have identified 36 individuals for externment from the district limits following their repeated involvement in communal offences and activities that threaten public peace and order, official sources said on Monday.Externment, in the context of law and specifically within the Indian legal framework, refers to a preventive measure where authorities prohibit a person from entering a specific area or locality for a designated period.advertisementAmong those identified are Arun Kumar Puttila, Bharath Kundelu, and Mahesh Shetty Timarodi. In total, 36 individuals have been named, including 15 Muslims, all of whom are reportedly involved in cases linked to communal violence and other criminal activities in the district.
The individuals have been flagged by various police stations across the district based on their criminal history and involvement in communal disturbances, officials said. According to sources, recommendations for externment have been sent from police stations under Bantwal Rural, Bantwal Town, Vitla, Puttur Town and Rural, Uppinangady, Punjalkatte, Belthangady, Sullia, and Bellare jurisdictions. The externment process, governed under the Karnataka Police Act, is typically initiated against habitual offenders whose presence is deemed prejudicial to law and order.A senior police officer from the district said, 'The individuals shortlisted have a record of repeated communal offences, and the proposal for externment has been forwarded to the Deputy Commissioner for further legal process.'advertisementAmong those identified are persons ranging from their early twenties to mid-fifties. The list includes individuals previously arrested or chargesheeted in cases involving communal violence, unlawful assembly, and breach of peace, he said. Many are considered habitual offenders who have been under constant police watch, he added.According to the officer, the externment, once approved, would bar these individuals from entering the district for a specified period, typically six months to a year. "This measure is preventive in nature, aimed at deterring the recurrence of communal tension, especially in sensitive areas," he added. The move comes against the backdrop of rising concerns over communal polarisation in certain parts of the coastal district, which has witnessed repeated flare-ups over the past few years. The final decision rests with the district magistrate after reviewing police reports, individual case files, and potential objections or representations from the accused parties, officials added.

'Sindoor Ka Badla Khoon': Shashi Tharoor Defends Op Sindoor | No Talks With Gun Pointed at Our Heads Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, speaking at the National Press Club in Washington D.C., passionately defended Operation Sindoor, India's powerful counter-terror military response to the brutal Pahalgam attack. Tharoor called the operation's name 'brilliantly chosen' and 'emotionally potent,' symbolizing the pain of 26 Indian women whose sindoor was wiped off by terrorists. 'There's a Hindi saying — sindoor ka badla khoon,' Tharoor declared, explaining how India's mission was not just military retaliation but a moral reckoning with terror. Modi govt to give toughest punishment to Pakistan now, India prepares big plan for Indus river
Modi govt to give toughest punishment to Pakistan now, India prepares big plan for Indus river India in the wake up terrorist attack in Pahalgam, has put the Indus Waters Treaty at abeyance and now the central government is preparing to speed up the completion of the projects being built in the Indus River Basin. The government wants that maximum water from the Indus River can be used in Jammu and Kashmir. The central government will soon give all kinds of approvals to speed up the work on important projects related to it. Actually, the Modi government wants that all the projects related to it should be completed as soon as possible, so that the water of this river can be fully used for the Indian states. Indus river basin projects will get necessary approval According to reports, Union environment minister Bhupendra Yadav said that the ministry will give all the necessary approvals to expedite the completion of these important projects. He said, 'The ministry will ensure that all green clearances/regulatory approvals for these strategic projects are given expeditiously. Also, proper scientific rigor will be maintained in the evaluation process.' This means that the government wants to complete these projects as quickly as possible, keeping the environment in mind, but all kinds of scientific standards will be taken care of. Work will be done on hydroelectric projects, construction of large reservoirs Not just hydropower projects, the government will also approve irrigation and water storage schemes soon. Hydropower projects will not only produce electricity but also help in storing water. Hydropower projects like Uri Stage-II (240 MW), Kirthai-II (930 MW) and Sawalkot (1856 MW) are still awaiting approval. These projects will not only generate electricity but will also create reservoirs to store water. This will solve the water problem in the area. Pakistan to face more trouble The environment ministry has already taken several steps to expedite the process of green clearance. A single-window portal has also been created for this. The statement of the Union minister shows that the government is giving priority to strategically important projects. That is, the government wants to complete these projects as soon as possible. This will bring many benefits to the country. Electricity will be available, irrigation will take place and the water problem will also be solved. However, this news is no less than a nightmare for Pakistan . Because, as India establishes its control over the water of the Indus river basin, the flow of water going towards it will decrease.
