Charles Leclerc plays down F1 Monaco GP chances despite perfect Friday
Charles Leclerc believes it's "too early to feel positive" about a strong result at Formula 1's Monaco Grand Prix, despite the Ferrari driver topping both Friday practice sessions.
The Monegasque endured an early fright in FP1 when he clipped Lance Stroll's Aston Martin at the Grand Hotel Hairpin, as the Canadian failed to see the Ferrari and slowly moved back onto the racing line having let traffic already pass.

But Leclerc soon got into his stride, and set the only FP1 laptime within the 1m11s - his 1m11.964s just under 0.2s faster than Max Verstappen.
He continued to find more time in FP2, setting a series of quick laps on soft tyres to eventually file a 1m11.355s; Oscar Piastri got close to that headliner, but ultimately fell short by 0.038s.
Leclerc, who had played down his chances before the weekend, was asked if he was still convinced Ferrari would struggle at the Monte Carlo circuit.
"Maybe a bit less convinced, but let's say I'm not convinced the other way either," Leclerc said.

"I think for now, a Friday in Monaco is always very special, very specific. I think everybody is taking a bit their reference.
"It's too early to feel very positive about the weekend, but let's say that Friday has been very positive for us. I've been feeling pretty good with the car.
"It hasn't started the way I wanted with the crash with Lance, but after that it's been pretty smooth and I'm happy overall with the car."
Leclerc agreed that capitalising on qualifying pace on Saturday was still going to be vital in the race, although the addition of a second mandatory stop may well open the door to more strategic plays for victory.

He said that the Ferrari also felt good on all three of the compounds Pirelli had brought to the weekend, which could theoretically open the door to using the C5 medium in qualifying.
"Yes, the one-lap pace was strong," he added. "Whatever compound we were on, I was feeling quite comfortable and the lap time was coming pretty quickly, so that's always a good sign.

"Qualifying is going to be fundamental around here and we've got to be starting in front if we want to hope for a good result."
Leclerc's Ferrari team-mate Lewis Hamilton was in high spirits following practice, particularly in his effusive praise of the Monaco circuit - which he branded "the best rollercoaster ride".

The seven-time world champion stated that he was generally happy with the Ferrari package from the get-go, and that more changes were needed from his driving rather than any overnight set-up tinkering.
"I think in the time, I would say there's more to find in my driving in lines, in braking. I've got one tenth, for example, just in Turn 1," he said.
"But there's bits here and there throughout the lap. On the car there are subtle changes I think need to be made, but I will not be making many changes at all.
"We might change one small thing, like a quarter of a degree of camber or something like that, but maximum I think that would be it."

Mancheter City's James McAtee could make Lyon move
In a deal worth over €40m, Rayan Cherki (21) is set to join Manchester City. However, another player is expected to move in the opposite direction and join Olympique Lyonnais on loan, as per L'Équipe. Lyon will hope to acquire one of Manchester City's attacking players on a season-long loan. Whilst it looks difficult to secure Oscar Bobb (21), L'Équipe understands that James McAtee (22) and Claudio Echeverri (19) are realistic candidates to make the move to the Groupama Stadium. Advertisement Last season, McAtee, an England youth international, made 27 appearances in all competitions, scoring seven goals. He played 15 games in the Premier League, albeit only three as a starter, scoring three goals. Echeverri, following the return of his loan spell at River Plate in December, featured even more sparingly for Pep Guardiola's side. He made just two appearances in all competitions, accumulating just 19 minutes of game time in the process. GFFN | Luke Entwistle

Lyon agree deal to sign USMNT goalkeeper Matt Turner from Nottingham Forest
Lyon have agreed a deal to sign USMNT goalkeeper Matt Turner from Nottingham Forest. The two clubs have agreed a fee of €8million (£6.74m) for the 30-year-old, who spent the 2024-25 season on loan at Crystal Palace and was part of the squad that lifted the FA Cup in May, the first major trophy in the club's history. Advertisement Turner made his professional debut in 2017 for the United Soccer League's (USL) Richmond Kickers while on loan from the New England Revolution. He became New England's first-choice goalkeeper in 2018 and made his Major League Soccer (MLS) debut that season. He made 111 appearances for the club in total, keeping 24 clean sheets. In June 2022, Turner signed for Arsenal and spent the 2022-23 campaign as the back-up goalkeeper behind Aaron Ramsdale, featuring in seven games. Upon the arrival of David Raya at the club in the summer of 2023, Turner moved to Nottingham Forest, signing a four year deal. He went on to make 21 appearances for Forest as the side finished 17th in the table, escaping relegation to the Championship. Turner made four appearances last season serving as second-choice behind Dean Henderson. He has been capped 51 times by the U.S. and started all four of the team's games at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Brazilian Lucas Perri was Lyon's No. 1 goalkeeper last season, starting all but one of the club's Ligue 1 games as the side finished sixth. In November, Lyon were provisionally relegated from Ligue 1 and handed a transfer ban after a French audit demanded that they improve their financial situation. Club president John Textor pushed back strongly at the time against any suggestion that Lyon could be banned from Europe and is confident the club's finances are in order. Madrid's new street circuit to debut in 2026, replacing Imola on F1 schedule

(AP Photo/Manu Fernandez) LONDON (AP) — A new street circuit in Madrid will make its debut on the Formula 1 schedule in September of next year, replacing the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix at Imola. F1 announced its schedule for 2026 on Tuesday, setting the first Grand Prix at the new Madring track in the Spanish capital for Sept. 13. Advertisement Spain gets two races for 2026 as Barcelona stays on the calendar for the final year of its contract. It faces an uncertain future after that. F1 has previously said Madrid's race will be known as the Spanish Grand Prix. The new schedule doesn't specify a new name for Barcelona's race, which has been known as the Spanish Grand Prix since 1991. Spain's second race means Italy drops back to having one Grand Prix as Imola leaves the schedule. The historic track, a favorite with drivers, returned to schedule in 2020 as a late addition amid the COVID-19 pandemic and has hosted five races since. Its contract was up this year. The 2026 F1 season will start March 6-8 in Melbourne with the Australian Grand Prix and concluded with the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix from Dec. 4-6. ___ AP auto racing:
